00:13So she's still with us.
00:15It's like I know you. That's what happens.
00:18It's like I know what I want to do.
00:21And now you can show me, yeah.
00:25Celine Dion getting emotional about the effects
00:28that her neurological condition, stiff person syndrome,
00:31has on her singing.
00:33Celine first announced her diagnosis in December 2022.
00:36And though we've heard her talk about her struggles,
00:39the new Prime documentary, I Am Celine Dion,
00:42actually shows us what she's been going through.
00:44And while we're not showing the most intense moments,
00:47we warn you, this is difficult to see.
00:53Celine crying in pain and gasping for breath
00:56as her medical team desperately tries to alleviate painful muscle spasms
00:59brought on by stiff person syndrome.
01:02The medical crisis began after a recording session
01:05when Celine went to her sports medicine therapist,
01:08Terrell Lobo, showing him a spasm in her foot.
01:11Her brain right now is overstimulated.
01:13Despite his efforts to relax her foot,
01:15Celine's muscles appear rigid.
01:17I'm going to lift you. Ready?
01:19And Lobo calls for help.
01:21Brian, I need you right now. She's in a crisis.
01:23The agonizing footage captures Celine appearing helpless.
01:26We now know she was suffering from a full body spasm.
01:29Celine, try to calm down.
01:31She appears unable to speak,
01:33communicating only by squeezing a team member's hand.
01:35Squeeze Brian's hand if you can.
01:37That a girl. Good job, boss.
01:39Good. So she's still with us.
01:41Her team administers nasal spray,
01:43which reportedly is commonly used to treat people who suffer from SBS.
01:47Good. Hands are starting to loosen up.
01:49Welcome back. Everything's good.
01:52Thankfully, the 56-year-old began to feel better,
01:55but she got emotional, admitting how embarrassing the ordeal was.
01:58You don't like to not have control of yourself, you know?
02:01The six-time Grammy winner proved just how incredibly resilient she is.
02:05She began to sing again not long after the terrifying episode.
02:13Celine is reportedly managing her condition
02:15with antibody treatment, medication and physical therapy.
02:18According to the Today Show, her health has now turned a corner.
02:21And last week at the premiere for the documentary,
02:24Celine told us she's working hard to get back on stage.
