00:00:00Previously, our five couples from all over Australia arrived at an old holiday resort
00:00:07on beautiful Phillip Island, to create luxury family holiday homes.
00:00:32I cannot accept it, I've been nothing but accommodating for you.
00:00:36I'm more, I'm more angry than stressed.
00:00:38Oh my god, what a stressful bloody day.
00:00:41Yeah but you're getting on my nerves.
00:00:43Me, me, me, me, me, me, me.
00:00:45Don't talk over me, and don't talk to me like that.
00:00:49Bradley, I'm not having a wide bath.
00:00:54So I would have liked to, maybe not tackle this alone, first week.
00:00:59I just feel like I'm failing.
00:01:01Honey.
00:01:04Last week's bathrooms brought disappointment for Jessie and Paige.
00:01:11And Kylie and Brad.
00:01:12This is heavy, this is dark.
00:01:14It gives off a mid-2010s nightclub vibe.
00:01:18Christian and Mimi took out the win, it's Christian and Mimi!
00:01:23And fatten their kitty by a stunning $140,000 worth of prizes.
00:01:30This week...
00:01:31Hi, I'm Steph.
00:01:32I'm Christian.
00:01:33Christian and Mimi got some winning advice from Steph and Gian.
00:01:37The house is so consistent, the stone was the same everywhere, the same colour palette.
00:01:42There was a baby.
00:01:43It's your daddy.
00:01:44A Barbie.
00:01:45This is what we could have had.
00:01:47And even a trip to the beach.
00:01:49It's so calm.
00:01:51Tonight, it's paint, paper, sticks and ducks.
00:01:56Let's go.
00:01:57Stop rushing me, I can't make decisions when you're complaining.
00:02:00As our five teams push on to finish their first kids and guest bedrooms.
00:02:06And battle it out for the judges' seal of approval.
00:02:09Wow.
00:02:10This just goes, whoa, I'm here.
00:02:14That is cute as heck.
00:02:15Oh, this is another level.
00:02:17After two weeks of the block on Phillip Island, it's almost time to pack up tent city.
00:02:35Good morning.
00:02:39Because this week, the blockheads are building their first guest bedrooms.
00:02:42Today, carpets, blinds and curtains will go in, as well as last minute electrical.
00:02:48And all the other comforts to make these rooms like home.
00:02:51With no hot water connected to bathrooms yet, water showers are all part of the deal.
00:02:58And house Shreece Hayden is keen for this part to be over.
00:03:02There's no hot water.
00:03:04Sometimes the showers get unplugged by people.
00:03:07Last night, the boys made a rookie error.
00:03:09Ran out of paint.
00:03:11Still not enough paint.
00:03:15Halfway through the tin of paint, we realized, we are hammered by the judges last week.
00:03:22So black was out and color was in.
00:03:25Initially, I was taking on the judges' feedback.
00:03:27So I kind of went like a full 180 and I wanted to do like color and I was doing summer peach
00:03:32and I picked a really nice colorful piece of artwork until Scotty and Shelly came around.
00:03:38Black can be beautiful.
00:03:40You've got to go with your gut.
00:03:41You've got a vision.
00:03:42You've got to stick with it.
00:03:45So then I rethought everything.
00:03:47Kylie's flip-flop from black to color to beige to a bedroom that will look like this.
00:03:54And I have a brand new secret weapon, a headboard trimmed in, you guessed it, black.
00:04:00Like a really thin trim.
00:04:02Yeah.
00:04:03We can do...
00:04:04Yeah.
00:04:05I just want that black.
00:04:06He's like, stop getting on Pinterest and looking at Pinterest.
00:04:09I'm not.
00:04:14Housewives Christian and Mimi also had a late one last night and it's put them ahead of
00:04:19the pack this morning.
00:04:20How are ya?
00:04:21First to be almost ready for Flooring Extra to install their carpet.
00:04:27So we just got to give it one more quick roll on the ceilings, but that should only take
00:04:32about five, 10 minutes.
00:04:33So I'm just going to leave it with memes.
00:04:36So maybe if you start unloading some stuff.
00:04:40Christian and Mimi's guest bedroom is on the ground floor.
00:04:43The asymmetrical placement of the portatimba, bedhead and lighting is their big design idea
00:04:50that they plan to continue in the rest of the house.
00:04:52I think our theme is like to offset everything.
00:04:55We like asymmetry.
00:04:57But painting, not so much.
00:05:03After a week of ups and downs, Christian and Mimi are starting to settle into block life
00:05:07exceptionally well.
00:05:09So last week we won, which is very exciting.
00:05:13Okay, let's just keep the good times rolling and get another win on our belt.
00:05:17In fact, Mimi is beginning to suspect she has found her calling at last.
00:05:21My mum thinks that I am a disappointment.
00:05:27Oh my God.
00:05:30Her words, not mine.
00:05:32Put me through a private school, all these extracurricular things like piano, tennis,
00:05:36like violin, dancing, acting, singing, tap.
00:05:40And she's like, you're not good at anything.
00:05:43But I feel like I'm really sure of myself on the block, which is like really empowering.
00:05:51Here, your coffee.
00:05:52In house two, Grant and Courtney are feeling positive about their guest bedroom,
00:05:57which they are setting up as a kid's room.
00:05:59The wow piece for this week will be the wallpaper combination with the arch, definitely.
00:06:03Yeah, the stripes with the pistachio green.
00:06:05Sounds colourful and appealing.
00:06:07What could go wrong?
00:06:08You never know, we might really fail our kid's bedroom because we don't have kids.
00:06:12I'm just nervous. Like, I hope we've done all the right things and stuff for kids.
00:06:17And getting it right matters if they're going to snatch the winner's crown from Christian and Mimi,
00:06:21who beat them last week by a mere half a point.
00:06:25It's Christian and Mimi!
00:06:28We got great feedback from the judges on our bathroom, but we still didn't win.
00:06:32And we still lost.
00:06:34We're really, really happy for Christian and Mimi, but...
00:06:36It was tough not winning.
00:06:40Well, hello, hello.
00:06:42It's 9am and the Graphico crew are heading to Jesse and Paige's place, house one.
00:06:47We're using Graphico wallpaper to create a really unique look.
00:06:51They're hoping for redemption after a rough start to the block.
00:06:55It's not finished, the poor things.
00:06:57We delivered an incomplete room first week,
00:07:00so we haven't tested the waters with the judges,
00:07:02with our styling and what we can truly deliver.
00:07:05Figuring out her own style has been a problem for Paige.
00:07:09All our options are ugly.
00:07:11I can't tell anyone what I like because I don't know the words.
00:07:15And the pressure of the block has caused tensions with Jesse.
00:07:19I'm sick of f***ing wasting time!
00:07:21Oh, f***.
00:07:23Stop. You can yell at me all you want,
00:07:26but this is your problem because you don't choose to talk to me about things.
00:07:30He was yelling at me about wasting time when no-one was wasting time but himself.
00:07:36Very out of character.
00:07:39Tensity is almost pushing me to my brink.
00:07:44And some days, I feel like I'm gonna lose my s*** over a zip.
00:07:49Oh, I never thought I'd be so excited to see a single bed.
00:07:52I've been sleeping in a tent.
00:07:53Thank you, mate. Yeah, that's fine.
00:07:56In house three, armed with more paint,
00:07:59Hayden can finally finish last night's job.
00:08:02But with hours of painting ahead of them,
00:08:04other trades can't get into the room.
00:08:07It goes here. Yeah?
00:08:09So we'll just have to tell you what to do.
00:08:11I'm going to paint the walls.
00:08:13I'm going to paint the walls.
00:08:15I'm going to paint the walls.
00:08:17Yeah? So we'll just have to tell them...
00:08:20..hold their... ..hold their horses.
00:08:22I've had enough.
00:08:24We've got no doubt the carpet layers will be here in about 22.
00:08:27We've got carpets going in.
00:08:30We've got Grafico going in.
00:08:32HomePro installing our blinds.
00:08:34Sparkies for chucking in some lights.
00:08:36Hike House 2, this week's bedroom is designed for younger guests.
00:08:40This teenagers' slash kids' room will have bunk beds,
00:08:44a clean bag, a TV and a PlayStation,
00:08:47plus a colourful interactive world map.
00:08:50Some would say we haven't left our teens.
00:08:55With the Grafico going up in house three,
00:08:57things are finally progressing.
00:08:59But more trades are in a holding pattern
00:09:01and foreman Dan is on the wall path.
00:09:03This is becoming a joke.
00:09:05Matt, the carpet layer, he's had to go for lunch.
00:09:07He's been writing around for hours to get into house three
00:09:10and they're pushing back saying, don't come in.
00:09:12So you're ready for carpet?
00:09:13No, we're not.
00:09:14Not at all.
00:09:15So with the sponsors, we just can't hold them up.
00:09:17We don't like holding them up.
00:09:18He'll be back from lunch soon.
00:09:20I'm bringing him straight down.
00:09:21Carpet's going in.
00:09:24Yep.
00:09:25Man, there was a lot of stuff that had to happen
00:09:27for an extra come down and install our new carpets.
00:09:30HomePro were doing our blinds and sheers.
00:09:33It was very chop chop, flat out.
00:09:36Next thing you know...
00:09:37We've got some defects in our room, starting with the roof.
00:09:41I'll be honest, I reckon it's a whole new redo.
00:09:43Like, you boys are paid for a job that's way below standard.
00:09:48Right.
00:09:49Way below.
00:09:50I'm looking at this,
00:09:51seeing holes all the way around the easy jam.
00:09:54I'm seeing scratches here.
00:09:55This junction here, I don't even know what that is.
00:09:59Plaster doesn't look too good.
00:10:01Paint job's probably not the best,
00:10:02but I think the plaster's definitely not come up as we want it.
00:10:07You see a better finish on a cake, Dan.
00:10:09Our plaster ceiling's stuffed.
00:10:11So, unfortunately, we got let down by a couple of trades this week.
00:10:13So, at the end of the day, we've got to be on it
00:10:15and making sure if they haven't done something right
00:10:17or if we haven't done something right, we fix it, so...
00:10:22So, our chances of winning the room are slim to none.
00:10:27What about something like that?
00:10:29Coming up...
00:10:30No!
00:10:31We'll get all the bark off of it.
00:10:32Fences are for a reason. Stop breaking rules.
00:10:34Conflict on site gets ridiculous.
00:10:38You're driving me crazy.
00:10:39Come on, can we just do this, please?
00:10:40He pressures me off the bat.
00:10:42I can't make decisions when you're complaining.
00:10:45And later...
00:10:46You guys are going to be my new family,
00:10:48so I just want to thank you guys for being part of that.
00:10:52There's plenty of love in the room, but not for everyone.
00:10:56It's flat. It is a flat room.
00:10:58But it's designed for design sake.
00:11:00And it doesn't feel high-end as well.
00:11:09It's mid-afternoon on beautiful Phillip Island.
00:11:15In house four, Carly and Brad have backtracked
00:11:17with their colour palette for their guest bedroom
00:11:20to include more of their signature black.
00:11:23So, change the paint colour,
00:11:25change the skirting colour, the door colour,
00:11:27pretty much literally everything.
00:11:30As well as a late addition of a black trim around the headboard.
00:11:34It'll look nice.
00:11:36Far out. What do you reckon Marty's going to say?
00:11:38He's going to hate it.
00:11:40But look, I'm not selling my home to Marty, I've decided.
00:11:43Yeah.
00:11:44So I'm just going to do me.
00:11:46No, how good?
00:11:50Doing Kylie also means changing her linen choice.
00:11:54Now I need to pair it back with where I was originally going,
00:11:57which is more neutrals, blacks, whites.
00:12:00Look, I've got my main colour, which is elegant beige.
00:12:03And I think the charcoal that we looked at the other day.
00:12:06Which was the darkest.
00:12:07So we've got charcoal and then we've sort of gone
00:12:09for more of a wheat spread.
00:12:11So hopefully I've paired it back enough,
00:12:13but it's still got a little bit of character.
00:12:19In house five, the carpet is down,
00:12:21the bedhead is installed and it's all coming together.
00:12:24And Christian's confident they've got another winning room.
00:12:28Oh my God, baby, our room looks unreal.
00:12:32We could go back to back here.
00:12:34Really?
00:12:35The green that we chose looks so gauze.
00:12:39Yeah, like really, really good.
00:12:41Oh my God, I'm excited.
00:12:42I just need one little thing to make this room complete.
00:12:46Throughout the week on Mimi's travels,
00:12:48she didn't find anything to fit in the pot that was in the corner.
00:12:53Instead of buying a real pot...
00:12:55Should we just get some sticks or something?
00:12:57That's what I'm doing.
00:12:59Well, you appear to be picking at your arm, Mimi, but anyway...
00:13:03Oh my God, grapevines stink a lot.
00:13:05Because there's already green in that section
00:13:07because you want it to be seen.
00:13:09So I'm thinking something a bit more, like, yeah, a bit more dry.
00:13:17So Mimi's hitting the local homeware stores to find something dry.
00:13:21Today I'm looking for something dry for a plant in the corner.
00:13:27I'm thinking more sticky.
00:13:29Yeah, so I've only got that sort of style.
00:13:32I don't mind that.
00:13:33They're not real.
00:13:34Oh, OK.
00:13:35It doesn't matter. People wouldn't know.
00:13:37Judges might, though.
00:13:38Judges might, yes.
00:13:39Fake sticks, no good.
00:13:41So a stickless Mimi heads for home,
00:13:43but Christian is taking the initiative to solve this sticky situation.
00:13:48I saw some sticks over here.
00:13:50Look, what about something like that?
00:13:52No!
00:13:53We'll get all the bark off of it.
00:13:54I want an actual tree.
00:13:56Yeah, these are from a tree.
00:13:59I don't know if we're allowed here, but...
00:14:01No, fences are for a reason. Stop breaking rules.
00:14:05The thing...
00:14:06Can we take this whole thing, Christian?
00:14:09That's perfect.
00:14:10Mimi, that's a living tree.
00:14:12You need something that's dead.
00:14:14Mimi, this is a good shape. Look.
00:14:16We're not putting that in our bedroom.
00:14:19I'm actually not even taking the piss.
00:14:22I think that'll look nice.
00:14:24You put it in.
00:14:25I don't want any part in this.
00:14:28Christian's sticking to his guns.
00:14:31Oh, that's going to look good.
00:14:35Does it look good?
00:14:36Be honest.
00:14:38Oi!
00:14:40Be honest.
00:14:41It doesn't look terrible.
00:14:43So I think going into judging...
00:14:45We'll see what they say.
00:14:49We'll leave it there. Hopefully no one squashes it.
00:14:51No one steals it?
00:14:56In House 1, Jessie and Paige are also bringing their room together.
00:15:00All the big decisions have been made, except one.
00:15:03He pressures me off the bat.
00:15:05I'm not making a decision under pressure.
00:15:11We went through four different pieces of artwork
00:15:13from the block shop and artist lane
00:15:15before we came across Anna Blackman's...
00:15:17Duck. I fell in love with the duck.
00:15:19I saw it, and I saw my whole life in it.
00:15:22I just want to see what it looks like in the middle of the bed.
00:15:29Try and straighten it a bit.
00:15:31Just come on. It's really awkward.
00:15:33What do you want me to do? Do you want me to decide?
00:15:35I do, but it's awkward.
00:15:37Yeah, well, what do you want me to do?
00:15:39Decide.
00:15:40Decide? There's, like, ten places it could go.
00:15:43Just put it up more.
00:15:44You're driving me crazy.
00:15:46Come on, can we just do this, please?
00:15:48You need to stop getting short-tempered with me.
00:15:51I don't give a **** if it's heavy.
00:15:53Far out, man.
00:15:54I can't make decisions when you're complaining.
00:15:57I can't.
00:15:59Let's just make a decision. You ready?
00:16:01Up higher, please.
00:16:04Up higher.
00:16:06Higher.
00:16:08Higher.
00:16:10You're such a ****.
00:16:12And then I stepped in.
00:16:14And it wasn't that hard, was it?
00:16:17I'll show you how it's done.
00:16:20Yeah, it looks great there.
00:16:22See, I'm not complaining. See how easy that is?
00:16:29All around the blog, it's full speed ahead.
00:16:32House 1, 2 and 5 are already styling
00:16:35and are so confident they've devised a crazy plan.
00:16:39Pub!
00:16:40We are going to the pub.
00:16:43I need a wine and I need some food.
00:16:48I think we have more than earned a nice night at the pub.
00:16:53Lovely.
00:16:58Hardhouses 3 and 4 aren't feeling those pub vibes.
00:17:04What goes with H? Spin it that way, Boris.
00:17:08B.
00:17:10This is where friendships end.
00:17:12I think if I had done the shopping,
00:17:14I would have bought solid furniture, not out of a box.
00:17:17Yeah, there were chats about going for drinks and some meals
00:17:20just to get out of the block and, you know,
00:17:22so we could all just let our hair down.
00:17:24But Brad and I, we hadn't started bringing any of our furnishings in
00:17:27or started styling, so I thought, nah, I just would prefer to stay.
00:17:31And so you did that?
00:17:32You stayed there and got everything done perfectly?
00:17:35No.
00:17:39Mimi and Courtney thought, let's get a bottle of red wine.
00:17:42We're in for a long night.
00:17:44What could go wrong?
00:17:53Do you want a glass?
00:17:54No, no, I'm good.
00:17:55I've got work to do tonight.
00:17:56So you guys came back from the pub first?
00:17:58Yes, we came back with the boys.
00:18:00We left early.
00:18:03Sucks when you have bucket loads to do
00:18:05and everyone else is half cut having a great old time.
00:18:12****
00:18:16Some kid's going to love it, ain't he?
00:18:20Had a few drinks, had a bit of banter.
00:18:22We just let loose, you know, no stresses.
00:18:24It was such a good night.
00:18:26It was a really great night.
00:18:32The plan was to focus on getting the room done,
00:18:34but instead we ended up having them all just decide to come
00:18:38and be social on our balcony, let's say.
00:18:41I love that bed head!
00:18:44I love the bed head!
00:18:46I don't know how you didn't get a noise complaint.
00:18:54Neighbours were very rowdy.
00:19:00If we had a bedroom door, we would close it.
00:19:03But we haven't mounted that yet and that is next.
00:19:05That's coming.
00:19:06That's coming.
00:19:07That's next.
00:19:12It's early morning on Phillip Island.
00:19:15A few blockheads are tired and emotional after last night.
00:19:18What time's the bit cafe open?
00:19:23****
00:19:24Oh my God, I just...
00:19:31How old are you?
00:19:32Give me ten.
00:19:34Sorry.
00:19:35Oh dear.
00:19:37Fortunately for the party goers in houses one, two and five,
00:19:40their rooms are essentially done.
00:19:43Now it's just, like, vacuuming and cleaning the window.
00:19:47That's it.
00:19:48I think I grabbed the ceiling paint last night, not the wall paint,
00:19:52so I've just noticed a tiny spot, so I'm just going to fix it.
00:19:55Very happy with this room.
00:19:57Wipe down, steam, vacuum, that's it.
00:20:00We're pretty relaxed there, Bradley.
00:20:02What do you want me to do?
00:20:04Stay away from my door.
00:20:06That's what I thought you'd say.
00:20:07We're in here till about three.
00:20:11Got two hours sleep.
00:20:13And now just trying to hang my first ever door.
00:20:16The last nail in the coffin for disappointment was
00:20:20I had to hang the door this morning
00:20:22and then found out that the door latch, like, it doesn't.
00:20:26It's, like, 15mm out.
00:20:30You're not having a good day, are you?
00:20:38Got 20 minutes to go.
00:20:4020 minutes to go, 20 minutes to go.
00:20:42Hi.
00:20:43Wow.
00:20:44Yes.
00:20:45Oh, my goodness me.
00:20:46You guys are going to win it again.
00:20:48To me, I walk in, I go, I've got a winning room in front of me.
00:20:5115 minutes to go, gang.
00:20:53Hey, Scotty.
00:20:54Wow.
00:20:55How you going?
00:20:56You've got a smile on your face, you're happy.
00:20:58Yeah.
00:20:59I'm so happy.
00:21:00I tell you what, I reckon you're going to win.
00:21:03Hello, Scotty.
00:21:05This is a winning room.
00:21:06This is a winning room.
00:21:07Let's hope so.
00:21:08That's what they said last week.
00:21:09Five minutes to go.
00:21:10I love it, boys.
00:21:11This is fantastic.
00:21:12Thanks, mate.
00:21:13Well, OK, what sort of cuisine do you like for the dinner tomorrow night?
00:21:16I feel as though this is a winner.
00:21:18Oh, you think so?
00:21:19I just feel it in my waters.
00:21:21Don't give me goosebumps.
00:21:22I feel it in my waters.
00:21:23I think you've seen a few more bedrooms than we have, Scotty.
00:21:26Well, yeah, there's a lot of good ones.
00:21:29Of course.
00:21:30Well done.
00:21:31Thanks, Scotty.
00:21:32See you.
00:21:34Now I'm all pumped up and then I'm going to get deflated later.
00:21:37I love how it's turned out.
00:21:38I'm really proud of what we've achieved this week.
00:21:41Let's just hope the judges agree.
00:21:43Scotty seemed to think so, but then talking to everyone else.
00:21:46He said the same thing to everyone.
00:21:48Bloody Scotty.
00:21:50Well, they're all winners in my book.
00:21:53But it's time.
00:21:55Tools down.
00:21:58And it feels like summer.
00:22:01You did a great job.
00:22:03I'm so proud of us.
00:22:04You did such a good job.
00:22:05I love you.
00:22:07I love you.
00:22:08Quiet.
00:22:11We did good.
00:22:12We did good.
00:22:13Are you going to high five me?
00:22:18Yay.
00:22:20Good job.
00:22:22What a week.
00:22:23How did we do this in a week?
00:22:25It's the time of the season.
00:22:32Time for the most important part of the week,
00:22:35where we all gather at my palatial headquarters
00:22:38to find out which bedrooms have hit the mark with the judges.
00:22:43Scotty.
00:22:44Hello, hello.
00:22:47She's come up to say hello.
00:22:49Very smoky in here.
00:22:50Hi, Scotty.
00:22:51Hey, Scotty.
00:22:52Hello, hello.
00:22:53Scotty.
00:22:54Hey, Scotty.
00:22:55Scotty, how are you?
00:22:56Hello.
00:23:00Come on, Becky.
00:23:02Come, Becky.
00:23:04Welcome.
00:23:05You all look spectacular.
00:23:07You look fantastic.
00:23:08Thanks, mate.
00:23:09Tell you what, doesn't a week make a difference?
00:23:11How much easier is it to do a bedroom?
00:23:14So much easier.
00:23:15Walk in the park.
00:23:16We were at the pub last night.
00:23:17You should have done two bedrooms.
00:23:18That's what I reckon.
00:23:19Oh, wow.
00:23:20No.
00:23:21Two.
00:23:22When I did my rounds this morning, I've got to say,
00:23:24I was extremely impressed.
00:23:26In my book, you're all winners this week.
00:23:28Let's do that.
00:23:29Thanks, Scotty.
00:23:30But it's not up to me, of course.
00:23:46And you want to know what the best thing is about the rooms you presented today?
00:23:50As of tomorrow, you can sleep in them.
00:23:55Right, well, look, they are all fantastic,
00:23:58but somebody is going to win the $10,000 from Ford,
00:24:02so let's find out who it's going to be.
00:24:05Jessie and Paige, house one.
00:24:07Are you nervous?
00:24:08Yes, I'm nervous.
00:24:09No, I'm not nervous.
00:24:10You're not?
00:24:11No.
00:24:12We had the worst last week.
00:24:16I have no background in design.
00:24:18I have no background in styling.
00:24:20I don't know how to define my style verbally.
00:24:23Paige put too much pressure on herself about what her style is
00:24:27and how she should do it that it just became too much.
00:24:30This week was a roller coaster of good times and bad times.
00:24:35Everyone's just hounding me to find the name for my style.
00:24:38I don't know it.
00:24:39The plan is to make a room that I don't like
00:24:42because it's going to be ugly.
00:24:44Got the bed.
00:24:45You got the bed?
00:24:46Yeah.
00:24:47Can we talk about a little sexy man, Jessie?
00:24:50I love seeing a man in charge.
00:24:55I don't like the handles.
00:24:56You don't?
00:24:57No, I don't like them now.
00:24:58They just looked so different in the display the other day.
00:25:03Like, I don't want to sit in a circle and kumbaya
00:25:05and talk about my feelings when I don't have any.
00:25:13The duck was a pivot.
00:25:14So special.
00:25:15So special.
00:25:16I'm actually feeling like we're in a different space
00:25:18compared to this time last week.
00:25:20It was definitely a stage where I wanted to give up
00:25:22and I didn't and I felt so good for it.
00:25:26Like, I am so proud of this room.
00:25:31Last week, Jessie and Paige,
00:25:32you didn't get to finish your room.
00:25:34No.
00:25:35So it was so great for me to arrive this morning
00:25:38to see a finished room.
00:25:40Well done.
00:25:41And it seems the judges agreed with me.
00:25:47This just goes, whoa, I'm here.
00:26:04Shona, I thought the wallpaper that you chose was phenomenal.
00:26:11That's brave.
00:26:12That's brave.
00:26:13I have walked in here and I really feel at home.
00:26:17Like, I just want to jump into this bed the way that they've made it.
00:26:21This wallpaper, as you said, is absolutely stunning.
00:26:24Very high end and it feels still coastal and beachy.
00:26:28Darren thinks your bathroom last week
00:26:30didn't give him enough sense of Jessie and Paige.
00:26:34But this really does.
00:26:36This is a finished room.
00:26:37There's ever so slight change of direction
00:26:39to something that's a little bit more classic and still cool.
00:26:44I think this is the right place to be.
00:26:47The room feels coastal, but not Phillip Island coastal,
00:26:51more city-adjacent coastal.
00:26:53Shona agrees.
00:26:55So this is more a traditional American Hamptons,
00:26:59which me, I would say, would be a modern colonial.
00:27:02Now, I know you've been looking for a style.
00:27:05You don't really have to have,
00:27:06but you've been looking for a name for it.
00:27:08We have.
00:27:09Well, you've got it now.
00:27:10Yeah.
00:27:11It's called, what's it again?
00:27:12Modern colonial.
00:27:13Modern colonial.
00:27:15Do you know what?
00:27:16It seems so obvious now.
00:27:18But whatever the style in this bedroom is,
00:27:20all three judges believe you got it just right this week.
00:27:24Really?
00:27:25I really like the blend of contemporary and traditional here
00:27:28because you've got their square set ceilings.
00:27:30We have the niche for the drapes.
00:27:32Those little details really sit nicely against the stripe.
00:27:36You've got this colonial panelling
00:27:37and the colonial panelling on the door
00:27:39and even the more traditional fittings.
00:27:41Now what they tried to do last week makes sense.
00:27:45They're on the right path.
00:27:46He thinks you should run with your style
00:27:48the whole way through the house.
00:27:51Shona did have some pointers saying,
00:27:54just pay attention to the little details.
00:27:57I'm just referencing last week
00:27:59where they had the traditional tatware in a brushed colour
00:28:04and then in here they've got a brass that has a brush.
00:28:08Inside they have a black
00:28:10and then on the doors they have a polished chrome.
00:28:13So I would say turn all these into a brushed chrome
00:28:17because it matches the look and feel.
00:28:19If you've watched the show, which I'm sure you all have,
00:28:21they really bang on about matching the metals
00:28:23between hinges, door handles and things like that.
00:28:26Definitely, yep.
00:28:28Then also the lighting plan.
00:28:30So we've got LED lighting, which is a soft light.
00:28:33We've got the wall sconces, then we've got these downlights.
00:28:36So I would have said put these downlights over here
00:28:40for the wardrobe.
00:28:42What she did really like was the way you designed
00:28:44the Kingsman wardrobes to run wall to wall.
00:28:47Really gorgeous, ample Kingsman wardrobes.
00:28:52Double hang, they've got the long hang.
00:28:54The wardrobe colour is fantastic
00:28:57and goes really well with the crisp white of the door
00:29:00and the wallpaper colouring too.
00:29:03We've got strong wallpaper, we've got a big duck.
00:29:06She thinks the Anna Blattman artwork was a terrific choice also.
00:29:11I knew the duck was good.
00:29:13I mean, this is night and day from last week.
00:29:15To see that improvement within seven days
00:29:17for me is a massive win for these guys.
00:29:19I'm so happy for them.
00:29:20This is sexy and this is classy.
00:29:23Absolutely.
00:29:24I think they've nailed their style
00:29:26and if they consistently do this look throughout,
00:29:29I think it's going to be a stunning house.
00:29:31A great effort and a great turnaround from week one.
00:29:35That is it, Jessie and Paige.
00:29:43It's improvements, that's the big thing.
00:29:45We've made such big improvements over the last week.
00:29:47The judges gave us some really good critique
00:29:49of where we're going and where we should go,
00:29:51so it was really positive.
00:29:57It's time for you to decide which contestants you think
00:30:00have created this week's winning room.
00:30:02All you have to do is head to the Block website now
00:30:05to cast your vote.
00:30:06And don't miss the results a little later in the show.
00:30:13Guest bedroom judging was a big turnaround for Jessie and Paige.
00:30:17Will the positive vibes continue for our NSW team?
00:30:21How's tea, Courtney and Grant?
00:30:23Hey.
00:30:27Summarise this week for us.
00:30:29This week was definitely fulfilling.
00:30:31And rewarding.
00:30:32This week we decided to do a kids' room.
00:30:34This is the room closest to the master bedroom,
00:30:36so we're thinking a younger kid, so 10 and under.
00:30:40We'll do a niche here.
00:30:41Oh, OK, so the bed's in the arch and then that would be the bedhead.
00:30:46Oh, so you want to make the wall the bedhead essentially?
00:30:48Yeah.
00:30:49We're going to add in a curve as a bedhead
00:30:50and that should tie in with the curve that's in the bathroom.
00:30:53I wanted to do lighting that resembled a cloud,
00:30:56like three different clouds.
00:30:57Yeah, I was thinking like three kind of different heights.
00:31:01Yeah, sure.
00:31:02We got a wall sconce for the craft area.
00:31:05You want it to be a bit of fun as well in the kids' bedroom.
00:31:09You need a hand with anything?
00:31:10I knew I wanted to go with that pistachio green for the arch,
00:31:13so I went to Mitre 10, I found a really nice pistachio shade
00:31:17and it was called Spring Green.
00:31:20We've all got a very different style.
00:31:22No one else is really doing like a modern Mediterranean feel.
00:31:25What we're going to produce is going to be very different
00:31:27to what everyone else is going to produce.
00:31:29A bit more playful.
00:31:30This week I feel like we're going in pretty confident.
00:31:33We've got a clear direction.
00:31:37Whoa!
00:31:39Wow!
00:31:40Look at this!
00:31:50Wow!
00:31:56Marty had exactly the same sentiment as Shana.
00:32:00I love these beds.
00:32:01They're very unusual beds, aren't they?
00:32:03I've never seen them that low.
00:32:04Yeah, we wanted to make sure it felt spacious in there.
00:32:07Amazing colours and it is very cosy and inviting.
00:32:11Shana's favourite word this year is personality
00:32:15and she felt, Courtney and Grant,
00:32:17that this room delivers personality in spades.
00:32:22Marty also wanted to praise you for building a room
00:32:25that is very functional.
00:32:27If that was a double bed and you just changed
00:32:30these three pieces of art behind us,
00:32:32this is easily an adult's room because it's not juvenile.
00:32:36And it's cute as heck.
00:32:37Oh, the styling's incredible.
00:32:39The colour is divine.
00:32:43I just love it because we've got a beautiful green-tinged sheer
00:32:49that just adds that sense of fun, sophistication.
00:32:53The fact that we've got this beautiful pistachio
00:32:56and there's an ice cream over there
00:32:57because that makes me feel like that's an ice cream.
00:33:00We've got three pendant lights here, positioned perfectly.
00:33:05Marty said, I can't rave enough about this room.
00:33:09I can imagine my daughters running in here
00:33:11having a play, running around, sitting down
00:33:14in a little drawing nook, I call that.
00:33:16I mean, it's a study nook,
00:33:17but that is such a great little kid's drawing nook.
00:33:20And these guys, they know what they're doing.
00:33:22There's no down lights.
00:33:23It's beautiful and calm.
00:33:25The feature lighting, the mood lighting, everything is unfoldable.
00:33:30In terms of execution and styling, it's right up there.
00:33:36Garen thinks the room is sophisticated and layered,
00:33:41but it wasn't faultless for him.
00:33:43One tiny little, tiny, tiny, tiny little detail.
00:33:45You're going to break your toe.
00:33:46Bingo.
00:33:47That's something you kick your foot on and break your toe on.
00:33:50Absolutely.
00:33:51These work just as well if they're right back there.
00:33:53While you're there, can you open the wardrobe?
00:33:55Of course I can.
00:33:56So, oh, cute, cute styling.
00:33:59Stop it!
00:34:01Wow.
00:34:03Something about little things.
00:34:06So cute.
00:34:07What Marty likes is how deeply you are thinking about your rooms.
00:34:11There are so many little details.
00:34:14From a marketing perspective,
00:34:15when the buyer gets an emotional connection to a property,
00:34:19that's when the best occurs with bidding.
00:34:22I always find the value of somebody's doing this attention to detail,
00:34:26this love, care and excitement into the low-value rooms
00:34:30shows me that they're going to bring it everywhere else.
00:34:33This is amazing,
00:34:34and if it does continue into those big master bedroom suites
00:34:38and kitchen where you have all those other rooms,
00:34:40these guys are going to be hard to beat.
00:34:42Bit of an early crow from Marty.
00:34:44Don't jinx it, Marty.
00:34:46Yeah, Marty said that last year, and that term came last.
00:34:48Oh.
00:34:50No, I'm joking.
00:34:51He didn't say that.
00:34:54One thing Darren then realised about both House 1 and 2 this week
00:34:59is that there is no heating or cooling.
00:35:03And once he'd mentioned it,
00:35:05all three judges felt that this was a major oversight.
00:35:09I would 100% be putting in a fan,
00:35:12even though this is an amazing design feature.
00:35:15It is coastal, sleeping under a fan on a hot night.
00:35:18It is really nice, and you do need it.
00:35:22Marty is worried that the buyers will penalise anyone
00:35:25who isn't addressing that basic amenity in the home.
00:35:29But that issue aside,
00:35:30Darren reckons you have presented a gorgeous room
00:35:33that is just so damn cute.
00:35:37That's it, Courtney.
00:35:38A grand thumbs-up all round.
00:35:39Very good week for you.
00:35:41Nice work, mate.
00:35:42Well done.
00:35:43Well done, mate.
00:35:44We've had great feedback.
00:35:46Like, there isn't much more you can ask for.
00:35:48Yeah, I think we've produced an awesome room.
00:35:49Yeah.
00:35:50So you just keep doing what we're doing.
00:35:53WHISTLE BLOWS
00:36:07OK, house three.
00:36:09You all right, boys?
00:36:11Yeah.
00:36:14This week was just as crazy as the last.
00:36:17Being a kid's bedroom, it's going to be different,
00:36:19it's going to be louder,
00:36:20it's going to be a bit more designed for kids.
00:36:24Here we go, we're going to look at floors.
00:36:25Do you know what you're looking for?
00:36:27Uh, not at all.
00:36:28So Tanya gave us some great advice
00:36:29that down the island it gets very cold.
00:36:31Carpet is often ran through most of the rooms in the bedrooms.
00:36:34I reckon that one.
00:36:35Oh, yeah, that's it.
00:36:37That's the bunk bed,
00:36:39so you can swing off the TV from the bunk.
00:36:42If you're going to have a holiday place here on the island,
00:36:44there'd be no holiday house here without some bunk beds in it.
00:36:49We were able to get just enough space to fit in a little TV
00:36:54for the kids to be playing some games on those wet days.
00:36:57So this is the TV you're looking for?
00:36:59Beautiful, sounds good.
00:37:00Woo-hoo!
00:37:02The whole room is designed around the wall art.
00:37:05It's a massive map of the world
00:37:07with every animal in the world on it.
00:37:09I'll be honest, I reckon it's a whole new redo.
00:37:11That's way below standard.
00:37:14Seeing holes all the way around the easy jam,
00:37:16I'm seeing scratches here.
00:37:18Definitely don't feel like we're going to win.
00:37:20No way, no.
00:37:21We're calling it Ricky's Roasting.
00:37:23And it's perfect because it's Sunday.
00:37:25So we're going to have some nicely roasted Ricky
00:37:28with a nice side of potato h, extra cheesy,
00:37:32bit of onion flavouring.
00:37:34It's going to be delicious.
00:37:49Marty was hoping that somebody this week
00:37:53would present bunk beds.
00:37:55You got your bunk beds?
00:37:57So you got off to a good start tonight, boys.
00:38:00But he immediately wondered aloud...
00:38:02Yes, but are they in the right spot?
00:38:07Shona was immediately drawn to the wardrobes
00:38:10and that awesome graphic code print.
00:38:13Because that's hot.
00:38:15I'm loving that.
00:38:16I'd love to see my kids come in and, you know,
00:38:18play with all the little animals and what are they?
00:38:20That is so smart for kids.
00:38:22Darren agreed, saying this does feel like
00:38:25an appropriate kids' room in a holiday home.
00:38:28I like this set-up.
00:38:30I like the PS4 and Disney Plus and all that.
00:38:33This is good.
00:38:34Makes sense to me.
00:38:35Maybe that's a little bit high for kids
00:38:37to be playing movies or watching stuff from the floor,
00:38:41but it's a nice thought.
00:38:43Marty, however, was still wondering
00:38:45about the orientation of the bunk beds.
00:38:47I probably would have had the bunks
00:38:49running along this wall here and the TV over there.
00:38:53He thinks this layout is claustrophobic
00:38:55and harder to photograph.
00:38:57If you look at the floor space,
00:38:58this is a room which is about 4 metres by 3.5,
00:39:01but yet we're sort of in a really tight space here.
00:39:05And he also picked up on some significant issues
00:39:08with the craftsmanship.
00:39:11The painting of the ceiling's really rough.
00:39:14It's more than the paint, mate.
00:39:15Have a quick look over there at that plaster.
00:39:18It's very rough.
00:39:20When you walk in the room,
00:39:22you feel off-centre about where you should go
00:39:25because you're hitting a bunk when you're walking in.
00:39:28You're going to trip over the beanbag.
00:39:30The door doesn't close.
00:39:32Plastering's an issue.
00:39:33This feels like a retrofit of a Phillip Island home.
00:39:38Shona also noted that this was the third bedroom
00:39:41they'd been in today with carpet on the floor.
00:39:44We're right walking distance from the beach.
00:39:47Like, you're going to be dragging in...
00:39:49Sand.
00:39:50Sand the whole time.
00:39:51This has been an easier week.
00:39:54I was expecting more from them.
00:39:56Darren was much more positive today,
00:39:58saying, I don't see problems with this room.
00:40:01I like the decision with the bunks.
00:40:03I love the colour palette on the bunks.
00:40:05I don't even mind the layout.
00:40:07You've got lots of open space to get at the robes.
00:40:11I'd be happy with this room.
00:40:13It's a good room.
00:40:14It's not a great room.
00:40:15And we've just seen two great rooms.
00:40:17I don't even think it's a good room.
00:40:21I think the wardrobe is the hero.
00:40:23The rest of it needs to be fixed.
00:40:25Because the thing is here,
00:40:27why do you just do a dado line on one wall
00:40:32and then paint it in greys but you have neutrals there?
00:40:35Why not the other wall?
00:40:36They're trying to pull through the bathroom into here.
00:40:39That's what they had in the bathroom.
00:40:41They're trying, but they're not hitting the mark.
00:40:44But the bias, there's no real major issue
00:40:48from a real estate perspective.
00:40:50So I agree with you, Darren,
00:40:51but I also agree with you in the fact that it's flat.
00:40:54It is a flat room.
00:40:55OK, I'm saying it's an issue for me.
00:40:57For Marty, he said it's not competition worthy.
00:41:00Guy's third room in a row
00:41:02where we don't have heating and cooling.
00:41:04Marty is looking for you
00:41:05to make a better emotional connection with your buyers.
00:41:09Hayden's just had his firstborn.
00:41:11Come into this week with a bit more passion.
00:41:14Come into it with a bit of an open mind of
00:41:16what do you want to build for your new child?
00:41:19If that had been injected into this week,
00:41:22I think we would have been taken on that journey
00:41:25and we would have bought into it.
00:41:26And this is an opportunity missed
00:41:28where he's disconnecting the emotion from property.
00:41:31If you draw on something in your life,
00:41:33like little Matilda,
00:41:35that gives you that emotional connection in that room, you know?
00:41:38Yeah, fair point.
00:41:40Marty finished by saying...
00:41:42I think it's the only show on the planet
00:41:44where you can have five massive winners.
00:41:46They don't have to be the highest-grossing team,
00:41:50but, jeez, they can make some serious money
00:41:53and set their families up
00:41:54because that's what the block can do.
00:41:56That's why you're here, away from your baby and your partner,
00:41:59because the sacrifice you're making is to change your life.
00:42:02Come on, boys, bring it.
00:42:04He wants you to work harder and smarter in the weeks ahead.
00:42:07That's it, boys. It's over.
00:42:14We're going to get full emotional this week.
00:42:16In whatever room reveal it is, we're going to get full emotional.
00:42:20Yeah.
00:42:21I think this week the trades are in trouble.
00:42:24I've been trying, trying, trying...
00:42:34It's guest bedroom week on the block.
00:42:36So far, the feedback has been mixed.
00:42:39Now it's our Queenslanders' turn to hopefully impress the judges.
00:42:43OK, house four, Carly and Brad.
00:42:49This week, I have sort of done a little bit of what the judges asked
00:42:52and mostly me.
00:42:54It's such a catch because I need to take on the feedback
00:42:57so I can sell the home,
00:42:59because I don't want to be creating something that I wasn't envisioning.
00:43:03I kind of went like a full 180,
00:43:05so I thought painting the bedhead Summer Peach, it's called,
00:43:09which ties in really well with the art.
00:43:12You're putting carpet in your bedrooms?
00:43:14No.
00:43:15We don't do carpet because we're from Cairns.
00:43:17Because I'm doing so many different looks in different bedrooms,
00:43:20there's nothing that ties it all in together.
00:43:22So I had already sort of predetermined
00:43:24that I wanted to go with a timber flooring.
00:43:26The structure in there is my bedhead.
00:43:29I'm actually planning on doing, like, LED strips around the two squares.
00:43:33I'm pairing it back, so we're keeping with black cabinetry,
00:43:36softening it with timber.
00:43:38We're doing, like, terrazzo handles.
00:43:40Are we taking on board the judges' feedback
00:43:42or are we moving in our own direction?
00:43:44Well, look, I've taken it on, I've scaled back.
00:43:47No-one wants a black bedroom.
00:43:49So how do they know?
00:43:50I'm just going to change everything now.
00:43:52I have questioned my styling and come full circle.
00:43:56I'm in a good place mentally today.
00:43:59So let's shatter it.
00:44:00Don't.
00:44:01No, so I'm ready to hear feedback.
00:44:03All right, Kylie and Brad.
00:44:06Oh, we have floorboards.
00:44:08Up to you.
00:44:09I got the eye of the tiger
00:44:13Dancing through the fire
00:44:16Cos I am a champion
00:44:19And you're going to hear me roar
00:44:26Perhaps unsurprisingly,
00:44:28Shona walked in and immediately loved your floorboards.
00:44:32So far the only house on the block that has considered that.
00:44:36And a fan!
00:44:39And doesn't it just feel nicer in here with that fan moving?
00:44:43Yeah.
00:44:44Compared to the other rooms today.
00:44:45Makes such a difference.
00:44:46Darren wasn't 100% convinced about the styling this week.
00:44:50This is really very classic.
00:44:53It's elevated, but I feel like it's as at odds
00:44:59to its location as last week's room was,
00:45:01but in a different direction.
00:45:03And they've sort of got some of the things
00:45:05that that room really needed,
00:45:06like this oak timber floor and the oak elements.
00:45:10But this room, I feel like they've put things in
00:45:13for the sake of putting them in
00:45:14to make it look like it's tricked up.
00:45:17But I don't think it works in this environment.
00:45:20I feel like this room doesn't belong here.
00:45:23And Shona is with him on that point.
00:45:25She's a bit perplexed.
00:45:27It feels like Art Deco,
00:45:29but it's not working because it's not an Art Deco place.
00:45:33Do you get that?
00:45:34Like it was a very Art Deco room, wasn't it?
00:45:36Yeah.
00:45:37Or the bedhead.
00:45:38Yeah.
00:45:39Marty was your arch enemy last week,
00:45:42but this week, your biggest supporter.
00:45:46This is palatable.
00:45:48This is marketable.
00:45:49This is a room where if you had 10 buyers walk through,
00:45:52you're not having that jarring effect by at least half of them,
00:45:56like what we had last week, which I think was an issue.
00:45:59I want to commend them for actually taking on,
00:46:02I think, some pretty harsh feedback well
00:46:05and toning it down,
00:46:06but they haven't lost sight of who they are.
00:46:08Marty thinks the fundamentals of this room are great,
00:46:11to make it better,
00:46:12you could easily change the bedhead and the artwork.
00:46:16This is a good room.
00:46:18That can go away, that can go away,
00:46:20and if somebody doesn't want this picture frame,
00:46:23whatever this thing is,
00:46:24then they can just go as well.
00:46:26The actual room itself,
00:46:28I'm just so happy that it's not as intense
00:46:31and dated and nightclubby as next door.
00:46:35But Shona was adamant
00:46:36this is not the look you want to go for for a holiday home.
00:46:40That doesn't say beach to me,
00:46:42and it's not the look that fits modern contemporary,
00:46:46which is where I thought they were going.
00:46:48This is a very old version of a modern art deco feel,
00:46:54and it doesn't feel high end as well.
00:46:57I just think Carly has so much personality with her green hair,
00:47:02and, you know, bring your personality.
00:47:05I just feel that this is a compromise
00:47:09and from what we saw in the bathroom,
00:47:12this doesn't, is that them or is this them?
00:47:15I feel like the bathroom's them,
00:47:17but, you know, bring your energy, bring your sass.
00:47:20Just remember that this feedback is all about auction day.
00:47:26That's what it is.
00:47:27I know it's hard to listen to it sometimes,
00:47:30but it's all about them
00:47:31trying to get you a result in 12 weeks' time.
00:47:35And, you know,
00:47:36that's the emotional connection we've talked about.
00:47:38Karen agrees with Shana.
00:47:40I don't get the feeling that Carly loves this style.
00:47:45Do you love the room?
00:47:46Like, absolutely, bottom of your heart, love the room?
00:47:51It's a run.
00:47:52I paid it back for them.
00:47:54I was listening to the feedback.
00:47:56Yeah, so we've just got to find a balance between.
00:47:59Trust your instincts.
00:48:00Look at the market, do the research.
00:48:02Have a look at some of the houses
00:48:04that are in these coastal environments
00:48:07that are cool,
00:48:08that have a little bit of rock and roll to them.
00:48:10Mixed opinions this week from the judges.
00:48:12Marty's fine with the direction you've taken,
00:48:15but Shana and Darren feel like you need to pivot and fast.
00:48:20There's lots to think about.
00:48:21That's it.
00:48:22Well done.
00:48:23Thanks for letting me do that.
00:48:25Well done.
00:48:27More rock and roll.
00:48:29She said to pair it back.
00:48:30They all said to pair it back in my bathroom, so I did.
00:48:32But then she said make it more.
00:48:33And now I'm too boring, so.
00:48:34She said make it more rock and roll.
00:48:37Which is black.
00:48:38Rock and roll to me is black.
00:48:40Okay, house five, Christian and Mimi.
00:48:48This week was...
00:48:51Okay, the room in itself was easy.
00:48:53Obstacles were harder.
00:48:56On this side we're going to have a pendant.
00:48:58So that's a big, like, different texture.
00:49:00Yeah.
00:49:01We've come up with this idea
00:49:02to try and have three different textures
00:49:04for the, like, main wall where the bed's going to go.
00:49:07So I made a boo-boo today.
00:49:09It's a big boo-boo.
00:49:10A demolition permit.
00:49:11Both our signatures have been forged by Christian.
00:49:15What?
00:49:16So when we got the cupboards measured up...
00:49:18I forgot to even think about the pipe.
00:49:20I think we're going to be losing half a cupboard.
00:49:23Then he cut corners on insulation.
00:49:25Looks like you've been tearing it apart to make it fit.
00:49:29Something missing.
00:49:30The lagging.
00:49:31The next day, that pipe struck again.
00:49:33He had to remove the last cabinet
00:49:36so that I could lag the pipe.
00:49:38And it still wasn't over.
00:49:40What tape have you got?
00:49:41Yeah, duct tape.
00:49:43No, you've got to use the proper silver tape for it.
00:49:46I went to Linen House,
00:49:47got all of my sheets, all of my throws.
00:49:50I'm actually using tablecloths as a throw.
00:49:53The feature timber from Port is a statement.
00:49:55Our room is a statement.
00:49:57It's, yeah.
00:49:58I'm pretty confident going into tonight.
00:50:01Darren had to put his shoulder into the door
00:50:04to get into the room.
00:50:08It's a tight squeeze.
00:50:10I haven't had to hip and shoulder a door for a long time.
00:50:13It's a bit sticky.
00:50:14Did you know that?
00:50:16We left it open.
00:50:19Don't work like that.
00:50:23Darren wasn't in love with the asymmetry.
00:50:26I think it's interesting.
00:50:27It looks like a great photograph.
00:50:31But it's designed for design sake.
00:50:46Darren wasn't in love with the asymmetry.
00:50:52But he had to admit, it also works.
00:50:56This is a very high caliber.
00:50:57This is another level.
00:51:00Something about you
00:51:02makes me feel like a dangerous woman.
00:51:07Something about, something about,
00:51:10something about you.
00:51:13Shona really loved the asymmetry.
00:51:15I love that we have one pendant
00:51:18and then we have a bedside lamp.
00:51:20I love that it is classy.
00:51:24Like, look at all the different textures
00:51:26that are on here at the moment, including the rug.
00:51:28I love the fact that we've got the porter timber
00:51:30which connects to the bathroom.
00:51:32And that was quirky as well.
00:51:33So this is almost classic elegant with a slight quirk.
00:51:37And then we've just got the details
00:51:39that are in the beautiful artworks.
00:51:41Marty said,
00:51:42I think this room compliments the bathroom beautifully.
00:51:46So when a buyer walks through
00:51:47and they duck into that bathroom,
00:51:49walk into here,
00:51:50I mean, as a downstairs master alternative,
00:51:53this really ticks the boxes
00:51:54because it does feel very high end.
00:51:56The room's elegant and classy
00:51:58and natural and very appropriate.
00:52:01So to me, this isn't saying beach.
00:52:03This is saying boutique hotel.
00:52:05Boutique coastal hotel.
00:52:07Yes.
00:52:08Build quality is excellent again.
00:52:10The kinsmen wardrobes are stunning.
00:52:14And they're sort of matching the bedhead
00:52:16and the laminate that's on the wardrobes,
00:52:19which is actually quite clever
00:52:21because this is going to be like a little private garden there.
00:52:25So it's got green, green, green.
00:52:27And so if they plant that out beautifully with more green,
00:52:30it's like it's being just sort of enveloped.
00:52:32And I just feel this is a boutique hotel in Phillip Island.
00:52:38Darren did wonder about the placement
00:52:40of the switches beside the bed.
00:52:42But with this detail, all these details,
00:52:45that's the solution?
00:52:47Well, we've always said,
00:52:48never have the switch as the feature
00:52:50and it just jumps straight out.
00:52:52If you're putting effort into the details,
00:52:54then put it into every detail.
00:52:57But he did really love the felted wool bedhead.
00:53:01Look at me, the weird, creepy guy, touching stuff again.
00:53:04I just, I can't help it.
00:53:06Marty thinks you are now taking the buyer on a journey
00:53:10with the rooms you have presented so far.
00:53:13And if they can continue this journey throughout,
00:53:16these guys are going to be extremely hard to beat.
00:53:18I'm calling it early because how they're designing it,
00:53:21how they're executing it, the craftsmanship,
00:53:23it's very hard to fault.
00:53:25The fact that we've got that shadow line
00:53:27between the skirt and the wall,
00:53:28we've got that no profile around the door and the architraves,
00:53:32I just think that it looks like they've put effort
00:53:36and money into fine details.
00:53:39And those things are the things
00:53:41that elevate a house from good to great.
00:53:43Marty also picked up on the details.
00:53:45But how subtle are they in making it feel beachy?
00:53:48Like you said, with the little whales
00:53:50on this display shelving,
00:53:51but then even with their feature lighting,
00:53:53using a light that's got rope in it,
00:53:55you know, like symbolic of the pier,
00:53:58throwing the rope for the boat.
00:53:59They've got some driftwood, they've got the right colours.
00:54:02They're paying homage to that beautiful island lifestyle
00:54:05but in such a sophisticated and really detailed way
00:54:08that it's not jumping out at you,
00:54:10but just enough for you to feel subconsciously
00:54:13that this is a coastal property.
00:54:15Once again, Marty's opinion,
00:54:17a room that will photograph beautifully,
00:54:20be really appealing to buyers and renters.
00:54:24Your room this week is not perfect,
00:54:27but it's very close.
00:54:29I think that the best feedback was that
00:54:31they said that they can already see the flow
00:54:33in the two rooms that we've done,
00:54:35and we're just going to continue that further.
00:54:37An emotional connection is really important for us.
00:54:39The judges think houses one, two and five
00:54:43have really nailed it this week.
00:54:45Out of five houses, we have three houses
00:54:48that know who they are,
00:54:50whereas we've got two houses that really,
00:54:53they're not quite sure.
00:54:55If one, two and five keep going with their direction
00:54:59and going higher and higher,
00:55:01three and four are going to get left behind.
00:55:04Marty said shift gears and shift now.
00:55:07Because if they don't shift in week three,
00:55:10it's going to be very, very hard to pull a big U-turn
00:55:13and get out of the hole that I think they're in right now.
00:55:16Yeah.
00:55:17OK, that's it. Scores. Here we go.
00:55:19There's no half a point.
00:55:21There's no half a point.
00:55:23Here we go, Darren Palmer, Jessie and Paige.
00:55:26I'm nervous now.
00:55:27This is sexy and this is classy.
00:55:29Absolutely.
00:55:37Well done.
00:55:38Caught you grand.
00:55:40That is cute as heck.
00:55:44Oh, my God.
00:55:54Ricky and Hayden.
00:55:56I love the colour palette on the bunks.
00:55:59I don't even mind the layout.
00:56:08Kylie and Brad.
00:56:10To make it look like it's tripped up.
00:56:16And Christian and Mimi.
00:56:19It looks like they've put effort and money into fine details.
00:56:35Marty Fox.
00:56:37Jessie and Paige.
00:56:39It's so cosy.
00:56:41Like, I have walked in here and I really feel at home.
00:56:45Never seen anyone do an eight or a nine like that.
00:56:48Oh!
00:56:50Tactical on those.
00:56:52I know.
00:56:54Courtney and Grant.
00:56:56This is amazing and if it does continue in all those other rooms,
00:57:00these guys are going to be hard to beat.
00:57:05The eights are perfect, aren't they?
00:57:08Ricky and Hayden.
00:57:10They're trying but they're not hitting the mark.
00:57:19Kylie and Brad.
00:57:21This is palatable.
00:57:23This is marketable.
00:57:32Christian and Mimi.
00:57:34As a downstairs master alternative,
00:57:37this really ticks the boxes because it does feel very high end.
00:57:44OK.
00:57:46It's going to be very tight. I'll see you in a bit.
00:57:53Shona Blades.
00:57:55Jessie and Paige.
00:57:57This just goes, whoa, I'm here.
00:58:02Courtney and Grant.
00:58:04This has a feeling of week seven.
00:58:07This doesn't feel like week two.
00:58:13Ricky and Hayden.
00:58:15This feels like a retro fit of a Phillip Island home.
00:58:21Kylie and Brad.
00:58:23It feels like Art Deco but it doesn't say beach to me.
00:58:29Christian and Mimi.
00:58:31This is a boutique hotel in Phillip Island.
00:58:40OK.
00:58:42The winner of week two on the block, Phillip Island,
00:58:47taking out $10,000 from Ford, is by half a point...
00:58:51Oh!
00:58:53Who is it?
00:58:56Who is it?
00:59:10Welcome back to my luxury HQ,
00:59:12where five very nervous blockhead teams are about to discover
00:59:16who has scored the guest bedroom win.
00:59:19OK.
00:59:21The winner of week two on the block, Phillip Island,
00:59:26taking out $10,000 from Ford, is by half a point...
00:59:30Oh!
00:59:32Who is it?
00:59:36It's Christian and Mimi!
00:59:38Here we go.
00:59:41I think the judges trust us and our vision and our direction.
00:59:46Maybe I can do this.
00:59:48Claudia and Grant, half a point again.
00:59:51Very close behind.
00:59:53What can you do?
00:59:55Congratulations, Christian and Mimi.
00:59:57Well done.
00:59:59It's $10,000 from Ford coming your way.
01:00:02Congratulations.
01:00:04Congratulations.
01:00:06Christian and Mimi, well done.
01:00:08It's $10,000 from Ford coming your way.
01:00:10You've also got a very special Ford getaway with yours,
01:00:14truly, tomorrow night.
01:00:16And I'm flying in some very special guests,
01:00:18so it's going to be an educational dinner about the block.
01:00:22A well-deserved prize for Christian and Mimi
01:00:25with their 28-point win.
01:00:27Bridesmaids Courtney and Grant came a close second
01:00:30on 27.5 points.
01:00:33The third spot went to Jessie and Paige
01:00:35with a respectable 27 points.
01:00:37And in equal last,
01:00:39Ricky and Hayden and Carly and Brad on 22 points each.
01:00:43You're going to have a target on your backs now.
01:00:45They're going to be chasing you.
01:00:47They're going to be tripping you over.
01:00:49They're going to be sabotaging you.
01:00:51That's what they're going to be doing.
01:00:53Is that true, guys? Yeah.
01:00:55Here we come, mate.
01:00:57They're probably not going to be over the moon
01:00:59that we're going away and meeting other people
01:01:01and getting better again.
01:01:03It hurts not to win, obviously.
01:01:05Half a point. I know, nearly there again.
01:01:07Yeah, of course, you know, you want to win.
01:01:09These advantages better your place in the competition.
01:01:12Yeah.
01:01:13So that just should put a fire in your belly
01:01:15to just keep pushing forward.
01:01:17See you later.
01:01:19Off you go.
01:01:21Bye, Rob. Thanks, bud.
01:01:23To be fair, I thought we were going to get slammed a lot harder.
01:01:26Tomorrow is a new day, it's a new start, it's a new room.
01:01:29And we're still determined as ever to win the next one,
01:01:32whatever it is.
01:01:34See, it wasn't that bad, was it?
01:01:36Oh, stop.
01:01:38I'm a bad winner.
01:01:40Not in a bad way, in a way that, like, she loves winning,
01:01:42but she feels bad about everyone.
01:01:44Don't cry. Don't cry.
01:01:46Enjoy it.
01:01:48That's exciting. You won two in a row.
01:01:50Why are you crying? That's a good thing.
01:01:52I don't know. I just hate it.
01:01:54I don't know. You hate winning?
01:01:56Oh, yeah.
01:01:59Our door shuts perfectly.
01:02:01As Mimi and Christian get scores like that
01:02:03and they didn't have perfect finishings,
01:02:05I'm a bit like, why try?
01:02:09A few hours later, everyone has gathered in the green room
01:02:12for a post-judging drink,
01:02:14except for a dejected Carly and Brad,
01:02:16who are heading to bed early.
01:02:18First of all, massive congratulations to Mimi and Christian.
01:02:22You guys have done a fantastic job.
01:02:24Congratulations again.
01:02:27Despite the hammering they got from the judges,
01:02:30house race Ricky has no regrets.
01:02:33First of all, on behalf of me and H,
01:02:36it's still surreal being here with all of you guys.
01:02:40Just enjoy the journey and, like, as long as you do that
01:02:43and make a few friends along the way,
01:02:45like, that's the most important thing.
01:02:47And for me personally, like, I don't have any family.
01:02:50I've got no-one to worry about, like, apart from my dogs.
01:02:53So you guys are going to be my new family.
01:02:56So I just want to thank you guys for being part of that
01:02:59and I look forward to spending the next three months with you.
01:03:02Cheers to you guys.
01:03:04Cheers, Ricky.
01:03:06Cheers, everyone.
01:03:08Mimi! We've got a house to do.
01:03:11Next week...
01:03:13I've been telling you what I'm feeling.
01:03:15You are being such a narcissist right now.
01:03:18..last on-suite week brings frustration...
01:03:21I don't care whether you've got, like,
01:03:23dinner date with the Prime Minister, mate.
01:03:25It's Waterproof Wednesday, mate.
01:03:27Absolute disaster, this.
01:03:29We haven't probably been on track or had a plan go to plan
01:03:32since we've been on the block.
01:03:34Ah! There's a penguin!
01:03:36..and surprises.
01:03:38This is sophisticated, fresh, it's elegant.
01:03:42It looks phenomenal.
01:03:44That's a big, big tick.
01:03:47That's Phillip Island right there.
01:03:49Wow! I love this so much.
01:03:54Go light!
01:03:56Uh-oh.
01:03:57..and disappointments.
01:03:59What is this?
01:04:02Our room reveal galleries are now open for inspection
01:04:06exclusively at the block website.
