00:00Hi, welcome back to my channel.
00:02In this video, I will explain the ending of Rumble Through the Dark.
00:04So, let's begin.
00:06Rumble Through the Dark is directed by Graham and Parker Phillips from a script penned by
00:10Michael Ferris Smith.
00:12The movie is based on Smith's novel, The Fighter.
00:15Rumble Through the Dark follows Jack Boucher, a former bare-knuckle cage fighter with heavy
00:19debts.
00:21In a final desperate play to repay the debts he owes, Jack will step back into the ring
00:24and fight against impossible odds.
00:27Jack finds an unlikely ally in Annette, a carnival hustler, as he tries to salvage the
00:31family home of his terminally ill foster mother.
00:34Here's everything you need to know about the ending, just to let you know this video will
00:37contain spoilers.
00:39How did Jack lose his money?
00:42Skelly recognized Jack when he was getting gas.
00:45Skelly also owed money to Big Mama and thought he could make a deal.
00:49He offered to bring Jack to her, and in return, she would cancel his loan.
00:53Big Mama agreed as she wanted Jack more than anything.
00:57Skelly gave Jack some money and asked for a ride to the next town over.
01:00However, on the way, Skelly placed a knife on Jack's throat, asking him to drive straight
01:05towards the river.
01:06However, Jack fought back and crashed his truck in the field.
01:10Unfortunately, he was badly wounded in the crash and somehow dragged himself to a nearby
01:14pub.
01:16Barron and his crew saw the crash and stopped to help.
01:19Annette, one of Barron's crew, found an envelope filled with cash on the crash site.
01:24The money belonged to Jack, and he'd worked hard for it.
01:27The next morning, Jack scanned his truck for the envelope but couldn't find it.
01:31Why did Jack visit Big Mama?
01:34Jack returned home and found his house's door plastered with a foreclosure notice.
01:38This was where Jack spent his entire childhood.
01:41Jack's parents died when he was young, and thus, he went to live with his foster mother,
01:45who raised Jack like he was her own blood.
01:48She was the one who taught him to stand up to bullies and fight for what's right.
01:52The bad news was that she had reached a stage in her life where she had forgotten her own
01:55name, much alone Jack's.
01:58Jack was tired of always looking over his shoulder.
02:00Thus, he decided to confront Big Mama.
02:04He showed up at her house and told Big Mama that he had no money to pay her.
02:08In reality, Jack and Big Mama had a history, and the former used to fight in underground
02:12battles for her.
02:14Unfortunately, during one of the fights, Jack got severely hurt and took an early retirement.
02:19Now, he has a huge bounty on his head, and to survive, he needs to do one of two things.
02:24Either he pays Big Mama in full with the interest or once again starts fighting for her.
02:29With no choice left, Jack agreed to fight again, knowing it could kill him.
02:34Who is Annette?
02:35Is she Jack's daughter?
02:37Ricky Joe, one of Barron's men, found out about the money.
02:41He was a convicted felon and tried threatening Barron but had to leave when the latter aimed
02:44a gun at him.
02:46Ricky wanted to steal that money and was willing to do anything for it.
02:50When he found Annette alone at the gas station, he jumped her.
02:53Fortunately, Jack was nearby, and he saved her.
02:57Annette asked about him and learned that Jack used to be a famous fighter.
03:01Annette wanted to find her father, but her mother had only two things to go on, first,
03:05that he was a fighter, and second, that his nickname was The Butcher.
03:09People called Jack The Butcher when he was in his prime.
03:11Sadly, due to his injury, he'd started to forget things.
03:16This was why he couldn't remember Clark's sister, Ginny Gunner.
03:19So, it was possible that Jack had a relationship with Sally at some point but couldn't recall
03:23her because of his memory loss.
03:25Annette also suspected that Jack might be her father.
03:29During their conversation, Annette learned that Jack was the man who lost his money in
03:32the cornfield and returned everything she found.
03:35Did Jack defeat Axe in the final fight?
03:38Jack returned the money to Big Mama, but she had other plans.
03:42She tried to convince Jack to fight, and when he refused, she tried to use his house
03:46and mother against him.
03:48She told Jack that she would give him the money he needed to save his house if he fought
03:51with her best fighter, Axe, Derek Russo.
03:55To save his mother's house, Jack agreed to step into the arena one last time.
03:59The fighter on the other side was a beast, almost double Jack's size.
04:03Axe was confident that he would end the fight in minutes, given that Jack was an old, retired
04:08fighter.
04:09However, Axe couldn't have been more wrong.
04:11The battle ensued, and as expected, Jack gave him hell.
04:15Even though Jack was old, Axe was no match for his speed and techniques.
04:20Axe eventually gained footing and incapacitated Jack.
04:24Axe was motivated by people cheering his name, but Jack's reason to enter the ring ran deep.
04:29Jack had made many mistakes.
04:31He worked for Big Mama and gambled away everything his mother left him.
04:35This was why he couldn't lose.
04:37Axe tried to end the match, but Jack killed him with a strong punch.
04:41In the final seconds of the movie, we see Jack sitting on the jam of his house, reminiscing
04:45about the hearty conversations he used to share with his mother.
04:48So, did Jack keep his house in the end?
04:52Yes.
04:53The movie never revealed it, but since Jack kept his word and won the fight, Big Mama
04:57would have had no problem giving him the money.
05:00Big Mama knew Jack better than anyone and was confident that he would emerge victorious.
05:04So, it was possible that rather than putting her money on Axe, she gambled on Jack winning
05:08the fight.
05:10If things were the other way around, Big Mama would have never let Jack leave the ring alive.
05:15Jack knew he wasn't a good son, but after meeting Annette, he decided to change himself,
05:19become a great father to her and give her the love she never received.
05:23That's all for now folks.
