00:00African Swine Fever, or ASF, is still being monitored for pigs in Quezon City.
00:06In Quezon City, there are still pigs operating even though they have an ordinance that prohibits backyard piggery.
00:13There are checkpoints and inspection sites that are laid out for the pigs that may be sick.
00:19In one of the inspection sites, a truck was blocked and the pigs have symptoms.
00:26This is the breaking news of Bernadette Reyes.
00:34This weekend, two trucks loaded with pigs were blocked in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City and Malanday, Valenzuela.
00:42One of them is using a recycled local shipping permit.
00:46While the other was seen by pigs with symptoms of African Swine Fever.
00:51The results of the tests for the pigs are still being waited for.
00:54First, the Bureau of Animal Industry, Quezon City Veterinary Department and the police laid out inspection sites
01:00to monitor the pigs that may be sick.
01:03Apparently, more than 200 backyard piggeries were left unattended
01:07despite the Quezon City ordinance that prohibits them.
01:11We have instructed our city veterinarian's office to go around and inspect and look for them
01:17just in case there are any that are sick.
01:19For the backyard raisers to be able to voluntarily feed their pigs,
01:24they don't have to pay P2,000 to P5,000 that is stated in the ordinance.
01:30If the ASF is positive, the pigs that will be fed will be called immediately.
01:35If there are no symptoms, the meat will be sold at the Kadiwa Center.
01:39Meanwhile, the plan of controlled vaccination against ASF will begin.
01:43The National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. is hoping that the price of the vaccine will be affordable.
01:50As low as possible, if possible, P100.
01:53Because the vaccine right now, the existing vaccine, ranges from P20 to as high as P100.
02:02According to the DA, a dose of the vaccine may cost P400 to P500.
02:08For GMA Integrated News, I'm Bernadette Reyes and that is the breaking news that you need to know.
