00:00So, today we've been given our first naval dev blog for the next update, and it's about USS Tennessee
00:05BB-43, which is going to be coming to the American Tech Tree at rank 6. So, if we take a look at the
00:11American Tech Tree, at the moment it ends off with the USS Arizona, which is a decent battleship.
00:17It's got okay main battery guns, although they're very slow firing, but it does lack in the way of
00:23anti-aircraft armament. However, while the USS Arizona is technically the last regular battleship,
00:29those of you who took part in one of the events, the Winter Extreme events last year,
00:34will have got the USS Mississippi, and this is basically what the Tennessee is going to be,
00:38but slightly improved. So, compared to the USS Mississippi, the main guns are going to be able
00:43to elevate a little bit higher, so they can shoot at longer ranges. It's going to have improved
00:48anti-torpedo defenses, so you're better protected against underwater damage from torpedoes,
00:54and the single 5-inch mounts have been replaced by eight twin 5-inch mounts.
00:58It's not much of an improvement over the Mississippi, but a massive improvement over
01:02the Arizona, because of course, while the main battery isn't changed, you are going to have a
01:06much better anti-aircraft armament. So, like I mentioned, you're going to have eight twin 5-inch
01:11guns, and they're able to fire HEVT shells, 10 quad 40mm Bofors guns, so again, much better than
01:18the current anti-aircraft armament, which is basically just 5-inch guns firing solid shot,
01:23and the occasional brownings, and then to top it all off, you'll have 43 single 20mm Oerlikon
01:29cannons. So, this is going to be better than the Arizona, it's going to have a much better
01:34anti-aircraft armament, much better protected underwater. Unfortunately, the main guns are
01:38still the same, so it's going to have that very slow reload rate, 1.2 rounds a minute,
01:42compare that to something like the Japanese Mutsu, which can fire about 1.9 rounds a minute stock.
01:47The armour is going to be broadly the same, so 343mm for the armoured belt, it's going to be
01:53able to launch a float plane, which will help with deploying smoke screens, it will have radar,
01:59it'll have a large crew, probably over 2,000 crew, so much better than the USS Arizona,
02:04which only has just under 1,400 crew, and unfortunately, it'll still be quite slow,
02:08maxing out at about 21 knots. And if I had to guess, I reckon it'll probably come after USS
02:14Nevada, although it could possibly come after Arizona as well, but at the moment you've got
02:18two battleships on the left line, so having two on the middle line would make sense to me.
02:23However, while I'm excited for USS Tennessee to be added, it's not so much because of the ship
02:28itself, as I've mentioned it's not a massive improvement over the Mississippi, but the next
02:33class after the Tennessee is the Colorados. And when you get to the Colorados, you get the 16-inch
02:40guns. At the moment, I believe only Japan has 16-inch guns on the Mutsu, so it would be nice
02:46for America to be one step closer to getting the 16-inch guns themselves, as well as potentially
02:51better armoured vessels. So yeah, I'm looking forward to this being added to the game,
02:56not a groundbreaking addition to the American naval tech tree, but it's a step in the right
03:00direction, and like I say, hopefully we'll be getting the USS Colorado soon, and then hopefully
03:06that opens the way for other nations to get their 16-inch battleships, or equivalent top-tier
03:11battleships. Anyway, just a quick video looking at USS Tennessee, hopefully you've enjoyed it.
03:17I've been Tyranno, and I'll see you next time.
