00:00The word Khafid comes from the root Kha-Fah-Dad and it means to lower something, to weaken,
00:10to make something humble or to humiliate.
00:13The same root word used to refer to the camel when it lowers its head.
00:18Allah is called Al-Khafid.
00:20He is the one that lowers and weakens the oppressors and tyrants.
00:25He lowers and weakens those who think they are so great and arrogant.
00:30He is the one that lowers the rank and status of all those who disobey him.
00:35Look what happened to the Pharaoh who thought he was so great.
00:40He was lowered and weakened and he drowned.
00:43Look what happened to Iblis, Satan.
00:46He had such a high rank but due to his arrogance, his status was lowered to the lowest of the
00:52low and expelled from paradise.
00:55We may not have the power and money of the Pharaoh, but how many of us have a little
01:01Pharaoh in us thinking we are so great and powerful.
01:05Just as Allah is Al-Khafid, the one that lowers and weakens the status of those that disobey
01:11him, he is also Al-Rafiq, the one that raises and elevates the believers that obey him.
01:19Allah says in the Holy Quran, خَافِضَةٌ رَافِعَةٌ
01:25It will lower some خَافِضَةٌ and raise others رَافِعَةٌ
01:32This verse means on the Day of Judgement the arrogant, disobedient and the wrongdoers will
01:38have their status lowered and humiliated, while the righteous good-doers will be raised
01:44in ranks and status.
01:46These two names go hand in hand together, but this will be explained in the next lesson.
01:52How should we live by this name?
01:54We should humble ourselves before Allah instead of being arrogant.
01:59It was the arrogance of Iblis that sent him out of paradise.
02:04Imam Ali said, One whose heart is humble, his limbs also humble themselves.
02:11We should also do good deeds so Allah can raise our ranks and stay away from bad deeds
02:17so we are not lowered in ranks in front of Allah.
