00:00The word rafiq comes from the root word ra, fa, a, and it means to raise and to elevate.
00:11Allah is called al-rafiq, he is the one through his wisdom raises and elevates that which
00:18he wishes.
00:19Allah says in the holy Quran, and we raised, rafa'na, the mountain above you.
00:27The Quran also says Allah is the one who raised, rafa'a, the skies without any pillars that
00:35you see.
00:36It also says, and we have raised, rafa'na, some of them above others in degrees of rank.
00:45As we can see from these few verses, Allah al-rafiq raises things that are physical such
00:52as the skies, clouds, mountains and so on, and raises things that are not physical such
00:59as your status and your rank and etc.
01:03But don't forget, just as Allah is al-rafiq, the one through his wisdom raises and elevates
01:10that which he wishes, he is also al-hafid, the one that lowers and weakens the status
01:17of those that disobey him as mentioned in the previous lesson.
01:21Allah says in the holy Quran, khafidatun rafi'a, it will lower some, khafidatun, and raise
01:32others, rafi'a.
01:35This verse means on the day of judgement the arrogant, disobedient and the wrongdoers will
01:41have their status lowered and humiliated, while the righteous good-doers will be raised
01:46in ranks and status.
01:48Allah al-rafiq raises the status and rank of every believer that obeys him and stays
01:55away from sins.
01:57The holy Quran says, Allah will raise those of you who believe and those who are granted
02:03knowledge to high degrees.
02:05Allah has granted knowledge and purity to our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon
02:11him and his pure family, the Ahlul Bayt.
02:14They are the best of believers.
02:17Allah al-rafiq has raised them to the highest rank in this world and in the next.
02:23The Prophet peace be upon him was tortured, mocked at and people tried many times to kill
02:29him, but Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala made sure he is the most raised and blessed person till
02:35today.
02:36Look at the Ahlul Bayt, all of them were poisoned and killed unjustly except for the awaited
02:42Imam.
02:43Allah has raised them such a rank that we still remember them and the injustice that
02:49was done to them, even 1400 years later.
02:53It's a privilege to be remembered and raised in ranks by Allah al-rafiq.
02:59How should we live by this name?
03:01We must remember that whenever we obey Allah and stay away from bad deeds, he will raise
03:08and elevate us in ranks which could be a level even higher than the angels and protect us
03:13from humiliation.
03:15And we should know that whenever we disobey Allah and do bad deeds, he will lower us in
03:21ranks which could be a level even lower than the animals.
03:25There was a time where you couldn't read, a time where you couldn't understand, a time
03:31you were naughty, but look, Allah has raised you to a level that you are learning right
03:37now.
03:38And we should remember all these blessings Allah has given us and thank him for raising
03:42our ranks.
