00:00Russia unleashed a day of terror across Ukraine.
00:21Residents of Kiev hunkered down in the city's subway as more than 200 drones and missiles
00:26targeted critical civilian infrastructure, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
00:32Russia's main target was Ukraine's power grid.
00:36One missile missed, but another hit a dam providing electricity to Kiev.
00:41Its destruction would flood the capital, putting millions at risk.
00:46There are now reports of widespread power outages.
00:57Belarus is concentrating a significant number of armed forces personnel as well as weaponry
01:04along Ukraine's northern border with Belarus.
01:07Ukraine has issued an official warning, urging Belarus to withdraw forces away from the border
01:12to a distance greater than the firing range of Belarus' systems.
01:17In its statement, Ukraine's foreign ministry said,
01:20We warn that in case of a violation of Ukraine's state border by Belarus, our state will take
01:25all necessary measures to exercise the right to self-defense guaranteed by the U.N. Charter.
01:31Consequently, all troop concentrations, military facilities and supply routes in Belarus will
01:36become legitimate targets for the armed forces of Ukraine.
01:48And concerns are growing over new Taliban laws banning women's voices and bare faces
01:52in public in Afghanistan.
01:54U.N. officials say the rules extend the, quote, already intolerable restrictions on the rights
01:59of women and girls.
02:01Those new rules come nearly three years after the Taliban seized control of the country
02:04in 2021 following the withdrawal of U.S. troops there.
02:08Moments ago, former President Trump laid wreaths on the memorials of several service members
02:12killed in the Kabul airport bombing three years ago today.
02:25In Pakistan's Balochistan province lie the charred remains of a deadly attack on civilians.
02:31At least 73 people were killed when separatist militants, the Baloch Liberation Army, launched
02:37multiple attacks across the province and security forces retaliated.
02:43The largest attack, a hit on a highway where the BLA executed 23 civilians in cold blood.
02:50The group also targeted police stations, killing at least 10.
03:02A performance test for Pyongyang's new suicide drones, overseen by Kim Jong-un and shared
03:08with the world's media.
03:10Armed with explosives, these drones are programmed to follow a specific trajectory to reach and
03:14destroy a target.
03:16Apparently capable of flying more than 1,000 kilometres, that puts most of South Korea
03:21in range.
03:22North Korea sent drones across the border in 2022, which Seoul was unable to shoot down
03:27due to their size.
03:29And the South has since invested in better preparedness for a drone attack.
03:33On seeing images of those tested on Saturday, experts have noticed a close resemblance to
03:38Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.
03:47Flash floods caused by heavy monsoon rains in Thailand have killed 22 people in recent
03:54days.
03:55Disaster officials have warned of further sudden flooding this week.
03:58A Russian couple and nine migrant workers from neighbouring Myanmar were among the 13
04:03people killed in a mudslide on the southern island of Phuket.
04:08The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said in a statement that 19 others
04:12were injured and more than 3,000 households have been affected in 13 provinces over the
04:18past 10 days.
04:28This is the aftermath of the collapse of Arbat Dam in Sudan's Red Sea state.
04:34Vehicles that were carrying goods to and from the state's capital, Port Sudan, submerged.
04:40Dozens of people swept away.
04:43The dam broke after the state experienced one of its worst rains in recent history,
04:48releasing millions of cubic metres of water that swept through nearby communities.
04:54Locals say at least 60 people were killed when the dam collapsed.
04:58The reservoir created by the dam was the main source of drinking water for the administrative
05:03capital, Port Sudan.
