Dr M holds court during defamation hearing

His age may be approaching the century mark, but Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad still showed his sharpness and stamina as he testified for hours at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Tuesday (Aug 27) in a hearing for a defamation lawsuit he initiated against Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi over his "Kutty" remarks.

00:35His candour also left the courtroom in stitches when Mohamad Shahrul asked him about his ten
00:39siblings and who among them is still alive.
00:42Dr Mahathir answered, I am, I am still alive.
00:47He however changed to a serious tone when answering questions on the impugned statement
00:52by Ahmad Zahid.
00:54He said he was not embarrassed about having Indian ancestry, but his grievance came from
00:58the statement, Mahathir Anaklelaki Iskandar Kuti.
01:02He said the lawsuit was not questioning whether Mahathir and Iskandar are Muslim names, but
01:07rather addressing the accusation of deception relating to his real name.
01:12The hearing continues before Judicial Commissioner Gan Taichung on October 14.
