  • last month
The British love of a Sunday roast is alive and well, and here in Birmingham, there's no shortage of great places to enjoy it. We hit the streets of the city to find out where Brummies think the best roast dinners are served, is it a cosy pub, a bustling restaurant or simply just at home?

00:00Of course. Well, I think, like, you know, it can't be Wetherspoons, of course,
00:03because you've got the cheap pints as well when you have a, you know, a Sunday roast.
00:07For me, personally, with a Sunday roast, you have to have, like, some brussels sprouts.
00:10Because for me, you know, they're a classic dish to go with a Sunday roast, of course.
00:13You know, a bit of lamb or a bit of chicken, of course, as well, maybe helps.
00:17I personally prefer it at home, because once I eat it, I can, you know, be in the lounge,
00:21out, be lazy on the sofa, have a little nap after.
00:25I think the perfect Sunday roast is a good roast potato.
00:28And the best one would be my mum's.
00:31The second one would be in the jewellery quarter, but I can't remember what it's called.
00:36The road?
00:37No, the pub on the corner.
00:38Distillery?
00:39No.
00:41I say it's one of those, like, the Queen's something.
00:45I think my mum's cooking's the best, really.
00:47I think if you get two meats, I like chicken and I like beef, I might.
00:52You know, you've got to have the stuffing in roast potatoes as well.
00:54You know, sometimes, if you're feeling lucky,
00:56a Yorkshire pudding makes it great as well.
00:58You know, heap loads of gravy, like, drowning in it, you know what I mean?
01:01I mean, cranberry sauce is all right as well, but I don't really have it that much.
01:05Yeah, I generally have mine at home as well.
01:07We don't eat beef in my house, so we have pork and chicken, generally.
01:11Turkey, if we're really lucky.
01:13We have multiple types of potatoes, so mash is generally my go-to,
01:16but then the roasties are really nice as well.
01:18Yorkshire pudding's a staple.
01:20You have to have it in my opinion, otherwise you're not having a roast dinner.
01:22And you need a heap loads of gravy.
01:23It's, yeah, just drown everything in it.
01:26Generally, get the mash involved with everything.
01:27And I really like having sort of vegetables, like courgettes,
01:32squares or marrows.
01:33They're generally quite nice, I think, especially if you're doing
01:35granny carrots, they're perfect for it.
01:37So that's generally my go-to.
01:40Always at home, although never make it as good as my parents.
01:46It's more of a seasonal thing, so we'd only really have it autumn,
01:50winter, spring type time.
01:52But just anything that's on offer in the supermarket
01:55and has to have a Yorkshire pudding with it.
