Crypto investment scam targeting Japanese citizens busted, 21 held

Police have dismantled a cryptocurrency investment fraud call centre, believed to be targeting Japanese citizens, following separate raids on two luxury residential properties in the capital on Aug 19.

A local man and 16 men from China were among 21 individuals arrested.

00:15two robberies were committed in two residential areas around Kuala Lumpur.

01:13and 2 mobile units were confiscated.

01:19According to the investigation, the Calling Center for Cryptocurrency Investors
01:23had just started operations less than a month ago.
01:27This syndicate used a luxury bungalow
01:30with two high-rise floors
01:33and located far from the main road
01:36as an operation center
01:38to hide their activities
01:41from the authorities.
