00:00When you look at the four pillars within the review, they're all great and there's heaps
00:05of really good stuff in there, but none of it will be possible without really good quality
00:10teaching staff in all our regional schools.
00:13Teachers that can't find accommodation, they're put up in maybe short-term accommodation for
00:19periods of time where they can't have their belongings or their pets, so you can't really
00:23settle.
00:25The CTP that's been around for many years, it's kind of outdated now and there are changes
00:32coming, but we need those changes in place so all our little schools have equitable access
00:38to incentives.
00:40International recruitment, which is a great program and there have been 100 positions
00:45filled successfully in recent years, but there are limitations with that with lack of housing
00:51as well, and also you can't use international recruitment if it's for a contract position.
00:56It only falls into a permanent when you have a permanent position, so if you've got a one-year
01:00contract you can't find anywhere for, locally, you still can't use international recruitment
01:06for that position.
01:07We would like to see everyone jump on board and give their feedback to the regional education
01:14strategy email or to us at PIWA, because the Minister wants this strategy to be built
01:21around the voice and the needs of the regional communities, so this is our opportunity for
01:26P&Cs, for school councils, for community groups, for families, for teachers, anyone with an
01:33interest to tell us what does work and what doesn't work, what do we need.
