00:00How would you define adventure?
00:21I think defining adventure is different for everyone.
00:29For some it might mean climbing Mount Everest, or it might just mean trying out a new restaurant.
00:38But rooted deep within us all, adventure represents enjoyment.
00:49The reflections of childhood, fort building and sunset bike rides in the woods.
00:59As I've grown older, adventure is still all around.
01:05It doesn't always need to be a monumental destination or achievement.
01:10It's been right beside you all along.
01:15There's something whimsical, pure and romantic about getting enjoyment from simply being.
01:22Being outside and feeling connected to everything around you, and everything happening in the
01:27background.
01:29Cooking a meal by the fire, the smell of campfire smoke as it blows into your face.
01:36The vastness of the night sky under the stars.
01:40Hiking in silence, with nothing but the echoes of the forest.
02:04I can't put to words the feeling of freedom you feel on a road trip living out of a van.
02:12Having no plan has to become the plan.
02:16A road might close, but there's always another one that might lead to somewhere unexpected.
02:22Even to one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
02:28Something central to this way of doing things is learning how to set expectations.
02:36It's okay to not have a destination or a plan.
02:40So go ahead, take that side road and whatever happens, happens.
02:56Our brains usually think of time in the form of summers and winters.
03:02Maybe sprinkle in a little fall here and there.
03:07But spring, spring is often overlooked.
03:13A stepping stone of melting snow and rain, just waiting for summer.
03:20But spring is a time of enjoyment, an appetizer that deserves its chance to blow you away.
03:32The cool weather feels refreshing before jumping into summer's heat.
03:38The landscape blanketed in flowers, those precious few days without the swarms of bugs
03:45sucking your energy away from you on a hike.
03:51The sun creeps up earlier each morning, with all its possibility readying the earth for a resurgence.
04:01Just as the animals wake from their hibernation, spring is a perfect time to get back into
04:07the swing of adventure and discovery.
04:11Summer will be here soon enough, so stop and enjoy these deep, cool breaths while they last.
04:21This is so perfect.
04:24This is my favorite place I've ever been to, ever.
04:31This is it.
04:41Spring has to be one of my favorite times for a hike.
05:02The perfect chance to see life return to the forest from winter's grip.
05:11The changing of the cycle allows for an abundance of opportunity for seeing wildlife.
05:21All of a sudden, fresh tracks start to cover the land, if you know where to look.
05:52If you know me a little bit, you'll know water always holds a special place in my heart.
06:08There's this feeling of calm that I can't quite put into words.
06:24About the gentle gurgles of a flowing river.
06:33The sound of water flowing over rocks, all the way up the roaring of a waterfall.
07:03It's a worthy investment to take the time just to stare off into space at every stream you see.
07:21All around, eagles, bears, deer, elk.
07:31Everyone is out and making the most of it as the time of plenty begins to slide back into the wilderness.
07:44As I leap into the mountains, there's an immediate shift.
07:48Snow still blankets the landscape.
07:52The brisk air still feels chilly in my lungs, teased by the warmer spring weather in the valley below.
08:14But this contrast allows for a mix of adventure that is hard to find anywhere else.
08:36It's unique, and I love it.
08:42It's unique, and I love it.
08:52It's unique, and I love it.
09:02It's unique, and I love it.
09:14Just taking a second and looking out at an incredible view, I always feel this little tingle wash over me.
09:24Living in the moment always steals the show.
09:30Feeling like a true part of where you are right there is indescribable,
09:40and makes me feel truly alive.
10:00All right, so I'm ready to go fishing, but first I want to show you what I'm wearing,
10:27what gear I have, because I am all suited up, ready to go.
10:33So, this is my fanny pack. It is fully waterproof when I close it,
10:37and I keep some stuff that I need handy.
10:41A few lines, a bit of tackle, and then I have my GoPro here.
10:47Over here, I have my pliers.
10:51These are very special. Okay, let me show you.
10:55I gave myself a little gift.
10:57So, they're so gorgeous. These are Sims pliers.
11:01You have, to cut your line over here, pliers,
11:05and there's just like a bunch of different grits over here.
11:09They're so cute. I love.
11:11And the case is really cute.
11:15Also, there's the tether on it, so you're not going to lose them.
11:21Over here, I have my bear spray.
11:23This is essential. I have not come across a bear yet,
11:27but just in case, I just pull it out, yank this off,
11:31and then I'm ready to go.
11:35Ideally, I don't want to use it ever, but it's very good to have,
11:39so I have it really close by over here.
11:41So, I have an extra belt here that's elastic.
11:45If ever I fall in the water and water starts going in the waders,
11:49they will not get full of water.
11:51So, that's good. I don't feel like drowning today.
11:55Then, on my back, I have my tackle.
11:59So, there's a water bottle in here, tackle, a bunch of stuff, a couple snacks.
12:03And,
12:07got my gloves, too, so I don't get too cold.
12:11And, obviously, last but not least, I have my net.
12:15I'm really hoping to catch something really big, so I got a big net.
12:19And, I have my Orvis Clearwater reel and rod
12:23with a cute fly on top. I'll show you over there.
12:27I brought a few fly options in my tackle, so I'm going to test out different things
12:31depending on what gets more bites.
12:33And, I fully rigged it before heading out, so I don't need to do it out there.
12:37So, wish me luck. We're going steelhead fishing.
12:41I'm hoping to get something massive and have dinner later, but if not,
12:45I will go and pick up some sushi, so it's going to be fine.
12:49Let's go.

13:13We all rely on everything Earth has to offer
13:17for our survival, but there's something special,
13:21something tangible about trying to hunt or fish
13:25for your own food. It brings us back
13:29to our roots because it's difficult.
13:33Buying a meal at a supermarket will never feel as rewarding as reeling one in
13:37yourself. Fishing has
13:41always kept this special place in my heart.
13:45There's a romanticization about a skill being
13:49passed on from generation to generation.
13:53So, we're at the next fishing spot. Got all my gear again.
13:57First spots were not very interesting, no action,
14:01no fish jumping out, nothing. So, this one, we'll
14:05go and see, but we have to cross and go for a little hike into the
14:09woods past potential bear's den.
14:13So, Andrew's a little stressed, but it's fine. But, we're going to make our way
14:17there and then I'm going to hope that we can catch something. We'll see.
14:21Let's go.
14:25Music
14:29Music
14:33Music
14:37Oh my god, look at these ferns. They didn't unravel
14:41yet. Look at how cute.
14:45Little baby ferns growing from some moss.
14:49Ah, I love this. So beautiful.
14:53Okay.
14:57Music
15:01Music
15:05So, we have to cross from here. We're going to cross this little
15:09tiny stream, go through the woods over there
15:13and then it's like past all of those trees. There's like a
15:17rapid stream here, but then after that there's a nice calm
15:21eddy, which is probably where the fish are hanging out. We're going to go and test that
15:25out and see how the water levels are.
15:29Let's go. Let's go, let's go.
15:33Music
15:37Music
15:41Music
15:45Alright, so we're halfway there so far.
15:49No bear, so let's keep going. The water
15:53level is a lot lower than last time I was here,
15:57so I'm not too sure. But I'm already here,
16:01so might as well keep going.
16:05Let's go.
16:09Music
16:13Music
16:17Music
16:21Fly fishing
16:25is no stranger to being a challenge.
16:29Yet, all the more
16:33rewarding when you get a catch.
16:37Music
16:41Music
16:45Music
16:49When I was a kid, I was
16:53always outside.
16:57It's something that is
17:01lost in the hustle and bustle of adulthood.
17:05Music
17:09There's something freeing about just spending the days outside.
17:13Music
17:17Cooking off a campfire and sleeping under the stars.
17:21Music
17:25It's a pure expression of what it means to be human.
17:29Music
17:33Finding meaning in the simplicities that give us happiness.
17:37Music
17:41Today while fishing, I caught
17:45the biggest piece of salmon
17:49at the grocery store.
17:53Sometimes you just have unlucky days, so this
17:57looks just as good, honestly. Maybe not, but it's fine.
18:01It'll be fine.
18:05Music
18:09I'm making the best salmon
18:13veggies and potatoes right now over the fire.
18:17Music
18:21Music
18:25Campfire cooking just always hits that spot.
18:29Music
18:33Music
18:37Music
18:41Music
18:45That primal feeling of
18:49I made this.
18:53Music
18:57Music
19:01I've always been fascinated by time.
19:054pm meetings are alien to every other creature on the planet.
19:09For everyone else, it's the sun
19:13that dictates it all. A day full
19:17of adventures based on the sun is something you should experience.
19:21Waking up and going to bed
19:25based on sunrises and sunsets always deepens
19:29my connection to living in the moment.
19:33Music
19:37Music
19:41Music
19:45Music
19:49Sitting around the campfire at the end of the day,
19:53eating some s'mores is truthfully bliss.
19:57The perfect way to end the day is always taking time
20:01to reflect on it. Even the most mundane
20:05or mediocre day deserves a moment to pick out a highlight.
20:09It doesn't need to be crazy.
20:13Enjoying a cup of coffee, listening to the birds chirping
20:17or just having a really relaxing moment.
20:21More often than not makes my tops.
20:25It's all about finding the beauty in the little moments.
20:29So,
20:33I will ask you, what was your
20:37highlight of today? Even the smallest
20:41things can be an adventure.
