00:00Sunderland City's Council's Planning Department received a new application for the Old Roker Amusements Building on Marine Walk.
00:07A Planning, Design and Access Statement said the building's design would mirror the Pier Point development at Marine Walk according to the LDRS.
00:15The amusements building closed several years ago and it was stated in the Council Decision Report that
00:20the demolition of tired and unattractive amusements and the replacement with a sensitively designed building will serve to enhance the character and appearance of Marine Walk,
00:29reflecting positively on the Roker Park Conservation Area.
00:33The Seldon's Leisure World website have a coming soon notice as they recently acquired Roker Amusements stating
00:39our plan is to knock down the current premises and build a new state-of-the-art indoor entertainment centre.
00:44It said the development would have no undue impact on the living conditions of any neighbours and would have a good standard of accommodation.
00:52A decision on the revised plans will be made after Council conduct a consultation on the matter.
00:57This is expected in October.
