Cowboys Questions: Run defense vs run offense, Rico Dowdle & more
An abbreviated Crusty's Corner today had Broaddus asking his fellow GBag Nation members a few questions about the Cowboys. Will the run offense or the run defense be more improved in 2024? Will the team realize Rico Dowdle is the best running back on the team?

01:10good in the sense that I think you're a top half of the league run defense and I I can't
01:15say that about your your run offense right now how about you there Dawson yeah you know
01:19I know the running game was bad last year and I don't think they've improved that I
01:23think they have they have sown the seeds that will eventually lead to run game improvement
01:28by getting a younger offensive line going for sure that is gonna cook but I mean Leo
01:33Fowl Kendricks and overshown along with Neyland and better better scheme I think for stopping
01:39the run I you know I'm much more confident the defensive part of this you know I like
01:42what you guys are saying because you're bringing up all the really the right defensive pieces
01:46and I think the safety group at playing it too deep you know can play guys in the alley
01:50and can show up and now you're not dealing with 205 pound linebackers or safeties that
01:55are playing linebackers think they got guys that can run to the ball and all that what
01:58a breath of fresh air it's going to be for more it will and and maybe even so what they've
02:02done inside you know with the defensive tackles yeah I will say this though I think their
02:08run offense will be better and just for what Dawson said earlier about adding Guyton and
02:15then having Bebe I'm really excited about Bebe Martin and Smith and those guys work
02:25because if we see how Dallas runs the ball it's really not perimeter runs and now you've
02:30got these backs that other than you know I think Rico Doudle and and and Vaughn could
02:36get to the edge and get to the core but it's more about that inside what's going on they're
02:41going to try and attack and then cut the ball inside cut the ball if you've got guys
02:46that have power like those three inside guys have I think they're going to be better running
02:51the ball I think they will be better as well but it's not going to be as good as the run
02:56defense according you guys yeah I still think it's the biggest question about the team coming
03:01into week one like how much of a running game can you come up with are you going to be bottom
03:06third in the league can you can you be the 15th best rushing attack yeah and I think
03:11hopefully with the with the youth of these guys as the season goes on assuming their
03:15health and everything like that this is something that you hope gets better along the way as
03:19Guyton and Bebe continue to develop.
