00:00You're very strong. You're stronger. Creatures. Death. Hobbits. Hobbits. Perfect. Love serial
00:07killers.
00:08Season two and apparently the most expensive yet. So I was wondering, did the snack game
00:12kind of like, was it upped?
00:15Chair game certainly didn't up. Maybe if we make some more publicity about the chairs.
00:19Maybe.
00:20We'll get better chairs.
00:21Yeah, maybe.
00:22Not good chairs.
00:23Kind of like...
00:24Yeah.
00:25Kind of like the steel chairs from wrestling.
00:27Yeah.
00:28Yeah, but they fall over very easily.
00:30Yeah, yeah. Very hard to sit in. But the snacks are good. The smoothies were very good.
00:35Snacks are excellent.
00:36Great.
00:37Endless Freddos. Freddo bars.
00:38But they've got smaller, haven't they?
00:39They have got smaller. Or have our hands got bigger?
00:41Oh, well I might have.
00:42Because we're now grown up.
00:43Evolution.
00:44Endless, yeah, endless goodies and crisps.
00:47Well everyone loves your bromance, so I thought I'd give you a little second to just tell
00:50each other what you like about each other.
00:52Oh, Charlie.
00:53Charlie, you're tall.
00:54Yeah, you're taller.
00:56You're very strong.
00:57You're stronger.
00:58I don't know, actually. We couldn't have an arm wrestle.
00:59Well, what I've always said to Charlie is that I've loved working with him because of
01:00his ease and...
01:01You're going to say ego.
01:02Because of his huge ego. And challenging at times. But no, we share, I think, an ease of
01:21working method which has worked very well. We don't over-analyse, over-talk about things.
01:28We kind of just do the scenes and I think are both reasonably relaxed people and kind
01:33of just let it happen. And I think there's a lot to be said for that sometimes.
01:37Exactly. And the same back to you, Charlie. It's generosity and it's just like the fun
01:44and lightness of working despite the heaviness of the material that made it very special.
01:49Now hug it out. Come on, hug it out.
01:51Thanks, Charlie. Thanks for a lovely time.
01:53Thank you, Charlie.
01:54See you.
01:55See you, everyone.
01:56So this is obviously about collectibles. We're looking at rings. I'm going to start it off.
02:01I'm a kind of Olympic poster collector.
02:03Oh, nice.
02:04When you're not collecting rings, what else?
02:05Have you been busy recently?
02:06So busy, honestly. I'm very broke now.
02:09Yeah, I hear you.
02:10But are you a collector of anything apart from rings?
02:12I have a Smurf collection. So when I was a little boy, I know I like your expression
02:18When I was a little boy, mostly playing alone, I would play with my Smurfs.
02:24I have a large Smurf collection.
02:26How large?
02:27I'm saying it. I've got Smurfs. I've got a Smurf collection.
02:29Where are they?
02:30Totally.
02:31Are they in a cupboard?
02:33You're totally befuddled by that, aren't you?
02:36I thought it was a cartoon. Didn't they actually have them?
02:38Yeah.
02:39Wow.
02:40I've got them in a cabinet.
02:41Wow.
02:42Charlie's seen it.
02:43Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
02:45Yeah. It's my Smurfs.
02:47When you were a little boy, you could get plastic Smurfs.
02:51That is wonderful.
02:53I don't collect them now.
02:54I don't know.
02:55No, I don't collect them now. But that is the one collection that I have.
02:58Love that. And what about the fact that you must have read a lot of these books and people
03:02kind of geek over Lord of the Rings a bit, don't they? Anything you like geeking over now?
03:06Obsessive. I get quite obsessive about serial killer documentaries.
03:10Perfect. Love serial killers.
03:12I wouldn't call it geeking over.
03:14Just geeking out over serial killer documentaries.
03:17I am fascinated.
03:19Yeah.
03:20I mean, but sometimes you're reading, because I read a lot of books, and you're reading it
03:25and you kind of have to just put... Because I'm quite queasy as well.
03:28I don't mind a bit of gore.
03:29It's when the descriptions start.
03:31When it gets too descriptive, you just have to put it down and go,
03:34oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God, but then go back to it.
03:36I just didn't see the answer of serial killer geek.
03:38Serial killers, yeah. I was going to say, like, football or something.
03:41There's nowhere near as interesting as serial killers.
03:43I am fascinated in how warped the human mind can become.
03:48Which leads us back to season two.
03:50Yes, season two.
03:51Although not the human mind, but the Elven mind.
03:53The Elven and God mind.
03:55So is this everything you wanted it to be season two?
03:58Yes. Yeah, it is.
03:59Is it?
04:00Yeah, it's very cool to see it come to life.
04:02And I think we had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted to do
04:06when we were told that we'd be doing this story.
04:09Yeah.
04:10Although we've only seen as much as you have.
04:12In fact, if not less.
04:13If not less.
04:14It could be terrible after the third episode.
04:16Do you remember what happens?
04:17Yeah.
04:18Remember what happens.
04:19But you're always remembering bits.
04:20Going, oh, my God.
04:21Particularly when you're going to do dubbing.
04:23And you go, oh, God, I'd forgotten that bit.
04:25And, you know, most of the dubbing is spent...
04:27Anyway, for me, I just kind of watch it like that.
04:29Is it okay? Is it okay?
04:31Because I'm always, you know, highly self-critical.
04:33So do your families like it?
04:35And your friends?
04:36Yeah, well, I think, yeah.
04:39I mean, I think most of my generation were all into Lord of the Rings.
04:42So, like, the people who are my age, my friends,
04:45they are into it because it's such a familiar world.
04:48And I think, yeah, I mean, I think my family...
04:51My family watch it because I'm in it, I think.
04:53But I don't think they would otherwise.
04:55That's a good family.
04:56You never know, though.
04:57No, it's a good family.
04:59And have you had to tell many fibs to kind of get them off scent?
05:02What you're doing, what's happening?
05:04Oh, yeah.
05:05You're a good liar.
05:06Well, I had to lie about it a lot.
05:08I had to lie in this a lot, like so much.
05:10Yeah.
05:11But actually, no, I take that back.
05:13It was get people off scent.
05:15That was a lie.
05:16I never told any lies.
05:17I just lied about lying.
05:19It was more just diversions.
05:21Yeah.
05:22And just finally, while we watch this, give me a little tiny synopsis.
05:25I could post the headline.
05:27Okay, so we have... What do we have in season two?
05:30Elves.
05:31Trauma.
05:32Battle.
05:33Blood.
05:34Wizards.
05:35Romance.
05:36Gods.
05:38Death.
05:39Hobbits.
05:40Harfitz.
05:41And, uh, uh...
05:43Shelob.
05:44And spiders.
05:45Spiders.
05:46Yeah.
05:47Okay, and that's me gone.
