00:00Let's go big picture to begin. As you look at the national
00:06championship odds, I really think it is a statement into
00:09what this college football season holds. Now, there is a
00:12slight change, of course, as Florida State was upset last
00:15week in Dublin by Georgia Tech, FSU, and Michigan tied for the
00:19tenth best price to win the natty this year at thirty to one
00:22entering the year entering week number one, Michigan now a
00:25thirty to one price by themselves with that tenth best
00:29number. So, it's you know, nine of the ten best prices to win
00:32the college football playoff national championship in 2024
00:35hail from either the SEC or the big big ten. Five SEC schools.
00:41Four big ten programs on that list and the independent that
00:45is Notre Dame. Is the national championship prices an
00:49indication of you of what this college football season is
00:52going to look like in the hunt for a title? Yeah, I mean,
00:56look, it's obviously they're the two best conferences but
00:58you know, what you do have to account for maybe here's a
01:01little bit of cannibalization of each other and that there is
01:04a possibility that whether it's Notre Dame or even an ACC team
01:08that could sneak in and sort of upset the apple card here.
01:12Uh although I don't wanna give too much credence to the big
01:14twelve. I I think they still have a long way to go as far as
01:16the conferences are concerned but again, Georgia's gonna play
01:19its toughest schedule easily in 5 years. Um LSU is going
01:23through a state of transition. Alabama's got a brand new head
01:25coach despite the fact that they're returning a lot of the
01:27same talent. So, all these teams have a bunch of
01:31question marks and they're all gonna start to play opponents
01:33that they don't routinely see and this is kind of the only
01:36thing that conference realignment in my opinion has
01:38really done that has made it a lot more exciting. When you
01:40look at some of these opening game schedules and things of
01:43that nature and the way it's all gonna shake out. LSU, LSU,
01:46and and USC and then you get Texas A and M and and Notre
01:50Dame in week one. I mean, you're getting some legitimate
01:53matchups here that could be season defining matchups that
01:56really could, you know, decide how the ranking system goes for
01:59those seven at large bids that are gonna pop up for the
02:02expanded college football playoff here. So, I do think
02:05there'll be a little bit of cannibalization. I think when
02:06it's all said and done with it, we get to the final twelve. You
02:09know, you're having nine of the top ten teams come from those
02:12two conferences. It wouldn't shock me if we got three or
02:16four big twelve teams in, two or three ACC teams and you're
02:18only looking at maybe five or six or seven from the SEC and
02:22the big ten combined.
