00:00We are taking a look here at some of the odds markets to win the Cy Young in the NL and
00:07also the Rookie of the Year.
00:08It's Chris Sale now as a decided favorite here.
00:10Minus $6.50 price at the FanBull Sportsbook, followed by Wheeler and Hunter Green.
00:15If we're looking at the National League Rookie of the Year markets here, it's Jackson Merrill
00:18at a minus $2.80 price, followed by Paul Skeens at a two-to-one price.
00:22Looks like the Cy Young Award is basically wrapped up in sales favor.
00:26That Merrill-Skeens intrigue down the stretch could just be Merrill's playing good baseball
00:32and will continue to play good baseball, and Skeens, maybe he doesn't even finish the season
00:36because the Pittsburgh Pirates hang it up for him.
00:40They're really not talking a lot about this at this point because we're still at the stage
00:43of the season, Donnie, where tickets are still sold in Pittsburgh.
00:48It's kind of hard right now at the end of August to say the last two weeks of the season
00:52you're not going to see Skeens pitch.
00:53The other thing that's really hurt him, I know it doesn't really matter in terms of
00:56metrics or stats or the way that people vote, but it is kind of crushing to see him go deep
01:00into these games and then the bullpen completely gives it up.
01:03And so I don't think that's helping his case at all.
01:05But again, it is still open.
01:08That race is still open.
01:09If, for some reason, Skeens was going toe-to-toe at the end of the season and Merrill was the
01:13slump over the next few weeks, these odds would get tighter.
01:15As far as Wheeler goes, yeah, I do think at this point it is open and shut.
01:19The funny thing to me is to see how deep the odds are for the third pitcher on that board
01:23was with Hunter Green being 55-1 and not pitching.
01:27So it just kind of tells you here at this point who is going to win the Cy Young.
01:30Yeah, it's going to be Sale in the end.
