"Every time I tell this story, I am filled with tears..." Anita, a journalist from Botswana, was plagued with terrible nightmares - where she would have sexual encounters with demons in the form of strange creatures, often waking up with physical bruises on her body. She equally faced stagnation and disappointment in her professional career as a sports writer. After the encouragement of her mother, she joined an Interactive Prayer Service with Brother Chris on God's Heart TV.

01:15My name is Ani Taranoba.
01:17I'm from Botswana.
01:18I graduated in 2017.
01:21And before I graduated, there is a process in our country
01:25where you need to undergo a process of internship
01:30in order to graduate.
01:32So I studied journalism and media,
01:34and I was opportune to do my internship
01:40with a newspaper called Study Standard.
01:44After three months of my internship,
01:46I was lucky for them to give me employment
01:51without undergoing the process of applying
01:54or going through interviews.
01:56I really enjoyed my job, and I still do enjoy my job.
02:01As time went on, the whole world suffered from COVID,
02:05and COVID changed a lot of things.
02:07And because of that, there was a shift in the atmosphere
02:11of how we were working,
02:13also with payments and so many things.
02:16I started developing depression,
02:19and I lost interest in the job that I was working,
02:22in the industry in which I was in.
02:25And then I decided to start applying for jobs
02:29so that I can go into other fields of communication.
02:33Unfortunately, from 2021 till this year,
02:40I was applying, and I never received any letters,
02:45either regret letter or just to acknowledge
02:48that they have seen my application.
02:51I will apply, and I'll never get any feedback, nothing.
02:54There was a year, which was 2022,
02:58when I applied for over 200 jobs,
03:02and not even one of them responded back.
03:07I would send emails every week.
03:10I would be applying for jobs every week,
03:13and I'll never receive any email telling me
03:17that I've been shortlisted,
03:19or I should come for an interview or whatsoever.
03:21It was really depressing, and I didn't know what was wrong.
03:25I didn't lose hope, and I didn't lose faith.
03:28I continued applying.
03:29I continued praying.
03:31I just believed that one day there'll be a change.
03:34I was also suffering from nightmares.
03:36These nightmares were more like
03:38I'll be seeing myself in dreams, having sexual intercourse.
03:42It can be with people I don't know,
03:45sometimes with demons, or sometimes creatures
03:49that I couldn't recognize or couldn't say I know.
03:54I didn't tell anyone, not even my mother,
03:56not even my family, because I was afraid
03:59of what would they think, what would they say.
04:02So if I refused, I would wake up sometimes with bruises.
04:06Sometimes I would be in a position
04:10where I see these entities having sexual intercourse,
04:14and I'm not taking part in it.
04:16And every time when I see such things,
04:19I will not get anything good my way.
04:24The beginning of this year in January,
04:26my mother introduced me to God's Heart TV,
04:30and she told me about the interactive prayer
04:34with Brother Chris.
04:35I applied for the interactive prayer.
04:38I didn't think much of it.
04:40Honestly, for me, it was just like any other prayer
04:43I've been involved in, any other church service
04:47I've been involved in.
04:49On the 30th of January, I sent out an application
04:54to be part of a youth leadership training program.
04:57And after that, three days later, I received an email
05:01to be part of the interactive prayer session with Brother
05:04Chris, which I joined.
05:06Physically, nothing special happened.
05:09I didn't shake.
05:10I didn't vomit.
05:12I didn't do nothing.
05:14It was just a normal prayer that I joined,
05:17and I didn't take anything into consideration.
05:21Little did I know that God was working behind the scenes
05:24for me.
05:25Every time I tell this story, I'm filled with tears.
05:30Even right now, I'm filled with tears
05:32because I never thought I would see this day.
05:36On the 21st of February, a week after the interactive prayer
05:40session, I received my first call to come for an interview.
05:46Apparently, that interview session lasted for three days.
05:50I came on the last day.
05:52As much as there was a lot of people,
05:55there was no fear within me.
05:57For me, I felt like the fact that I made it
05:59to this interview after so long, after three years of applying
06:04and not receiving anything, it's enough for me.
06:08It shows that God has truly turned my case around.
06:12I walked in that interview room session.
06:15The panel was so shocked at the fact that I was smiling.
06:19They didn't know why I was smiling because everyone
06:22who walked in was having serious faces,
06:26and I was the only one who smiled,
06:28and they were asking, why are you smiling?
06:30Why are you so happy?
06:32I couldn't even tell them why I'm happy.
06:35I just sat down, carried on with the interview,
06:38and I went back home.
06:41And the shocking thing is, unlike other interviews,
06:45mine lasted for about 10 minutes.
06:47Others were less than five minutes.
06:50So when I had others saying that interviews lasted that short,
06:55I was like, did I say something wrong?
06:57Did they have to correct a lot of things?
07:01But little did I know,
07:03I was accepted for the program to be part
07:08of the youth leadership training program.
07:11It's a nine-month leadership training program.
07:13It's offered by Federate Ibejtafe Botswana,
07:17and they gave me this opportunity to be part
07:20of 20 youths of Botswana to participate
07:25in this nine-month program.
07:27I forgot to mention that while all this was happening,
07:31because it was happening week after week,
07:33I was also opportune to undergo a special prayer session
07:38with Brother Chris.
07:40I joined in that prayer session.
07:43I have never experienced those dreams again.
07:47Till today, I've never seen.
07:49I sleep peacefully.
07:50I don't wake up with scars.
07:52I don't wake up with anything, even on the day
07:55when I received the email that I've been accepted.
07:59Instead of dreaming those bad dreams,
08:01I was awarded a white envelope in my dream.
08:07And after I received that white envelope,
08:09the following day, I received an email saying
08:11that I've been accepted in the training session.
08:15In terms of my career, I've been a journalist
08:18for the past seven years now.
08:20And in the seven years, I've never received any recognition.
08:25I was just like any other journalist.
08:28But lo and behold, on the 19th of March,
08:33I received an email that I was nominated
08:35for the first time in my life to receive an award.
08:39I prayed about it.
08:41And on the 23rd of the same month,
08:45I was awarded the Bunani Anyo Botswana Women's Sports Awards
08:49Journalist of the Year print.
08:52And here is the award, my first ever award.
08:57It is overall a Botswana, but this one is the sports category
09:01because I'm a sports journalist.
09:042020, I joined a nonprofit organization
09:09called Young African Leaders Forum.
09:12This is a nonprofit youth-led organization
09:16which empowers the youth of Africa within the continent
09:20and as well as the diaspora.
09:23We advocate for the needs of others
09:25and we encourage the youth to just participate
09:29in the country and societies.
09:31I was doing this work for free.
09:35I was just volunteering for this job.
09:38I didn't think of anything.
09:40And in this process, I was using my resources.
09:43On the 18th of April, I was appointed the regional coordinator
09:49for the southern region of Africa for a two-year period
09:55to lead summits in this region.
09:59The youth of the southern African region is my responsibility.
10:03And to add on it, I'm preparing a summit
10:08that will be hosted in Zambia in November
10:11for the first time in southern Africa.
10:15And it can only be by the glory of God.
10:17This one comes with payment.
10:19This appointment I'll be paid for and I'll also be paid
10:22for being an ambassador for my country.
10:25It's actually two payments at once.
10:27So what's your advice to our people who have joined us today
10:30from all over the world about what Jesus Christ can do in their lives?
10:34First and foremost, when I took part in the first interactive prayer session,
10:39I did one thing, one thing that changed my entire life.
10:44I surrendered to God and I opened my heart.
10:48Those were the keys to unlocking my blessings.
10:52Had I not done that, I don't know.
10:54I wouldn't be here to testify.
10:57So I would encourage them to search deep down their hearts
11:01and to surrender everything to God.
11:03And for them to know that this appointment
11:06doesn't mean God has forgotten me.
11:08Everything has its own time.
11:11God managed to shower me with blessings in a period of three months.
11:16For many people, they take time to achieve whatever I've achieved.
11:21So I would encourage them to keep on going,
11:25to keep on praying and to keep on believing.
11:28They shouldn't hold back and they shouldn't doubt God in anything
11:32because God is capable of changing a story in a blink of an eye.
11:37It doesn't take him a long time to change your story.
