00:00Four doctors have agreed to put their lawsuit against the Malaysian Medical Council on hold.

00:08Law firm Steven Thiru and Suidar Partnership, representing the doctor, said the Medical

00:12Amendment Act 2024 is expected to allow their clients' enrollment on the National Specialist

00:17Register when it comes into force.

00:20The amendment bill was debated and passed by the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara in July.

00:26The law firm said the changes would remove all obstacles preventing the doctors from

00:29applying to be registered as cardiothoracic surgeons.

00:33It said there is now a new clause containing the list of all training institutions recognized

00:38by the MMC, which included the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh

00:43qualification.

00:44MMC's law firm, Kinesh Sundaram & Co., confirmed its clients' agreement for the suit to be

00:49put on hold.

00:51In April, the High Court granted the four surgeons' leave to challenge MMC's decision

00:56rejecting their applications for a listing on the NSR.
