Interview with the secretary of Highlands and Islands Blood Bikes Gordon Scott, and local MSP, Maree Todd.
Transcript
00:00I think as a blood bike charity, the biggest benefit that we provide is enhancing patient care.
00:07It's getting their medications or their blood samples transported more quickly than they would normally,
00:13so it provides better outcomes.
00:16And how can people support the charity?
00:19Lots of different ways, from volunteering.
00:22We're always looking for volunteers, not just to ride bikes, but to drive our cars,
00:27or help with fundraising, or even manning our telephones.
00:30We're on the phones from 7 in the morning to 7 in the evening.
00:34And also with donations, so if anyone wants to look us up on our website, they can help by making a donation.
00:41How do you plan to support the service?
00:45So I'm keen to find out about what I haven't...
00:48Every time I visit a place, I'm keen to find out what I can do to help.
00:53There are always ways of raising the profile of a service like this,
00:58but I'll chat to the guys about whether there's anything I can do as a local MSP,
01:03or indeed as a government minister, to make sure that people know what they do,
01:07and ensure that they are appropriately supported,
01:10so that this service continues, because I know it makes a difference to my constituents.
