00:00okay so tell me about what your favorite foods are I mean what is it that you
00:04traditionally like to eat I particularly like to eat traditional foods like I
00:10really like a lot of meat so more like a beef pork and chicken so it's more like
00:17meat and potatoes for me so just like starch and nice and hearty yeah I mean
00:25what's your heritage I'm African Nigerian to be precise
00:29okay so a lot of obviously I'm guessing does Nigerian cuisine have a lot of
00:31spice to it yeah it does it has a lot of spice and I've got a very good spice
00:36tolerance so I like spice food and living around this area what's the stuff
00:40that you like to eat around here around here that's not because we've got a lot
00:46of African stores around so I'm still very much into my African cuisine so I
00:50tend to buy things like you know tomatoes peppers and chickens and just
00:56make a normal African stew and then rice on the side I eat a lot of rice
01:01okay you've not been quite as adventurous to say maybe going out for a
01:04curry or a kebab or a pizza or anything like that I have been I have been but
01:08not as I would have want to because you know it's not everywhere that you find
01:13and you like so you need it's a when you're doing something new you need to
01:17find somewhere that it's that they actually know how to make it so I've had
01:22peri-peri I've had lamb chops I've had shrimps prawns and seafood just a seafood
01:30platter and I've also been to the Bentley Bridge side of things and Costco
01:35and I had like an all-you-can-eat so I tried a lot of different things some I
01:39loved some I hated so it was just that I have been adventurous
01:46sometimes people can say cuz I've tried a lot of good stuff I remember this is
01:51the weirdest thing I was in Amsterdam and we ended up going to an Ethiopian
01:54and Eritrean place you know eating with the sourdough bread and then picking up
01:59the food with that yeah it was good it was spicy but it worked out quite nicely
02:02so tell me about what your favorite foods are I'm gonna have to go with some good Italian
02:07food something like spaghetti bolognese or maybe like a lasagna or something
02:12man up in my own house what is it about Spag Bologna that you like? I just love
02:15Mediterranean foods I visited Amsterdam last year and there was a really nice
02:19Mediterranean food restaurant so I just had a lot of Mediterranean food whilst I was there
02:24and something about the food and the spice and the culture of that as well
02:28oh absolutely mate I'm really big on wanting to go back to the Mediterranean
02:32in this area as well there's plenty of options well not just that but also I
02:35can see that you've been to Hasty Tasty Pizza yeah what is it that food in this
02:39area that you like? oh food in this area we're talking like just West Midlands in
02:44general? well yeah I mean you live around here I'm assuming so I live in
02:48South Staffordshire actually okay well that works as well but I just thought
02:51that the whole sort of region this it's a wide range of different foods aren't
02:55they? oh completely yeah yeah I'm quite partial to a bit of a chips and curry
02:59sauce myself yeah that's got you thinking now haven't I? pork
03:07scratchings in the nail yeah real okay so when you think about your favorite
03:14foods what are the things that you like to eat? I like to eat some African traditional dishes
03:22soup exactly, I like palm oil soup, that's the Bangda soup
03:28is there anything sort of special you do with it? is there a special type of soup that you like?
03:31yeah that's what I do, that's Bangda soup, I love Bangda soup, it's a palm oil soup
03:35because I can eat it with starch and I really like eating it with rice as well
03:41living in Wolverhampton have you sort of found something similar to that or have you tried to change your taste as you've been here?
03:46no not at all, I think the cultural difference also extends to food nutrition
03:53sometimes some of their soups are still less spicy than I like it
03:59you personally like a bit of spice then? yeah so would a vindaloo curry be up your street as well then?
04:05I don't know, I've never tasted it but I'd like to try it, I hope it's fine
04:10so is that the thing about living in this region, you'd like to expand your taste a little bit?
04:14yeah I think there should be some more infusion of some other tribes, some other cultures
04:22because we mostly have Asian meals, there's not enough African food
04:32so tell me what are your favourite foods? Chinese, Italian, chips
04:37so you're someone who likes a lot of everything basically, is there anything specifically within Chinese cuisine that you like?
04:42more of the authentic stuff like dim sum, some of the evening dishes and stuff, nothing like the take away
04:52oh so it's more down to the authentic taste and flavour and things like that?
04:56yeah it makes me feel like a back home
04:58what about the Italian stuff, are you a spaghetti bolognese person or are you more pizza?
05:02both, depends on the mood
05:07in fairness we've all been there with that
05:09so tell me about living in this region, is there anything from this region specifically that you've tried and you've liked?
05:15battered chips
05:17I ask this about a lot of people, what is it about orange chips and battered chips that you like?
05:23the crunchiness, texture, flavour, that sort of thing
05:26have you ever been a curry person as well?
05:28yes but because my family isn't into spice as much I've kind of had to fall back on it
05:36we go to Indigo once in a blue moon
05:39you're more of a chicken korma person than a vindaloo person then?
05:43yeah
