00:04:57And I think to myself, just last week I had my very first successful title defense, I might add, in the United States capital, Washington, D.C.
00:05:13Well, you don't need to boo it, let's calm down there.
00:05:17But I thought to myself, well, I don't...

00:05:35Well, hold on now, you might really want to say that here in a minute.
00:05:38Because I thought to myself, if I'm going to defend this, I know it's a U.S. Championship.
00:05:42But if I'm going to defend it in the capital of the United States, I figure I might as well come over here and defend it in the capital of Germany.
00:05:52We might just keep a little trend going.
00:05:54The capital, we can call this thing the capital championship for all I care.

00:07:40Well, myself and the entirety of Berlin, we can guarantee you there is no one better on
00:07:54German soul than the German Ludwig Kaiser. So, let me give you a little news flash here because
00:08:10after I beat you in the capital of my home country, one, two, three, I'm going to take
00:08:17that championship, I'm going to bring it all across over the pond, I will make it bigger
00:08:25than it ever was and I will make it my own personal European Championship.
00:08:47I gotta be honest, that's pretty impressive, that's really impressive for Gunther Stooge,
00:09:08but I'll tell you like this, you talk about what you want to do with this championship,
00:09:13you can do anything you want to do with this championship pal,
00:09:16the only problem with that equation is that you gotta win it, but you won't because you can't
00:09:21because I won't let you. So, here's how it goes down, you want to talk about what you're going
00:09:27to do with this, the only thing you're going to do is you're going to lay down and catch three
00:09:31the hard way, when I hit it and quit it, move on to the next and you with everybody in Berlin and
00:09:37all around the world can pledge allegiance to the champ of the United States of America

00:10:38for the United States Championship.
00:10:45Kaiser goes 6'3", 209 pounds, born and raised in Hamburg, Germany.

00:11:06And L.A. Knight finds himself in hostile territory tonight, it's probably what's going to happen
00:11:11tomorrow night, Wade, for Randy Orton when he takes on Gunther, of course, who cut his teeth
00:11:16here in Germany as a professional wrestler, Gunther defending against Orton for the world title,
00:11:19same type of atmosphere Knight's facing tonight. Yeah, and it's quite a while since L.A. Knight
00:11:24has been in the position of perhaps not being the crowd favorite in a matchup, and if you're
00:11:29not expecting that, and I'm pretty sure L.A. Knight was not anticipating Ludwig Kaiser coming out
00:11:34tonight, it really can throw a superstar. Much like Gunther, Kaiser began his career West Side
00:11:39Extreme Wrestling here in Germany, he was actually a world champion in that promotion, he was a tag
00:11:45team champion as well, his tag team, Wade, was named Hot and Spicy. Oh yeah, and if you look at
00:11:51clips of them, they certainly were hot and spicy, but I'll add to it this, Michael Cole, as we know,
00:11:57Kaiser has very much been a tag specialist in his entire time under the WWE umbrella,
00:12:05this is his first ever opportunity to win singles gold. And looking to make it a short-lived
00:12:12championship reign for L.A. Knight. And the thing about Kaiser, Wade, is that L.A. Knight really
00:12:20encapsules everything that Kaiser says he hates about sports entertainment today. He wants to wipe
00:12:26the silliness out of sports entertainment, and he looks at a guy like L.A. Knight for the catchphrases
00:12:31and the fan favorite, and the way that he carries himself as one of those people he would like to
00:12:35take out of the equation. Yeah, you know, I kind of disagree with Kaiser on that one, I get it,
00:12:40when you get the clowns, the fools, the jokers in this industry, the difference with L.A. Knight is he
00:12:45likes to fool around, he likes a bit of audience participation every now and again, but imagine he
00:12:50back it up when that bell rings, and Kaiser knows that. Indeed, the biggest win of his career back
00:12:54earlier this month at SummerSlam, L.A. Knight winning his first singles championship here
00:12:58in WWE, a long road, and one that Knight earned. Of course, knocking off Logan Paul at SummerSlam,
00:13:05and Kaiser now with a big right stunning the champion. A great opportunity, this is for
00:13:11Imperium to add some more hardware to go along with Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship.
00:13:17Kaiser's a father, a legend here in Germany, Axel Dieter taught a, let Kaiser how to wrestle, oh,
00:13:24and there is a L.A. Knight exploding out of the corner with a clothesline. Kaiser was a big fan
00:13:30of Alex Wright, a fellow German superstar from WCW, aka Berlin. A tribute to Alex Wright would be
00:13:38if Kaiser wins gold here in Berlin. And Kaiser dropped on his back of his neck on the ring apron.
00:13:51And Kaiser, slip out and drive Knight kidney first into the ring. And Kaiser,
00:13:58who has a mean streak, just asked his former partner in Imperium, Giovanni Vinci, who will
00:14:04return to Friday Night SmackDown next week. Kaiser knocked him out of action for many months,
00:14:09and he's with this move that Kaiser is about to attempt that took out Vinci, that took out
00:14:15Kofi Kingston. And here comes Kaiser now, right into the shoulder, into the steps of Knight.
00:14:20Can Kaiser win the United States Championship?
00:14:29Well, back live on Friday Night SmackDown, L.A. Knight made through the day that he decided to
00:14:34have an open challenge for his United States Championship, because Ludwig Kaiser has taken
00:14:39the fight to the champ. Here's a statement that has never been altered in the history of humanity.
00:14:46We've got an entire arena going bananas for Ludwig Kaiser. We are in Berlin, Germany. Kaiser brought
00:14:53up in Hamburg, Germany. Hometown favorite, and they would love to see Kaiser win the championship.
00:15:12And Knight trying to fight back against this proficient,
00:15:15precise striker in Ludwig Kaiser. Knight has got the guts and the grit.
00:15:22Been in this business for a very long time. Body has been through one hell of a beating
00:15:27of the hands and feet of Ludwig Kaiser. Knight worked in a lumber mill as he was
00:15:33learning to become a wrestler, Wade. Did everything he could to put money away,
00:15:38to go to school, and climb the ladder, and now here he is as the United States Champion.
00:15:44Can he retain tonight on SmackDown?
00:15:52Oh, what a chop! L.A. Knight trying to take the hometown crowd out of the game and has not been
00:15:58able to do it yet. Kaiser over the top rope and on the German announce table, and now L.A. Knight
00:16:03going to dribble Kaiser like a basketball.
00:16:17And one for good measure, and now Knight's in control. Ludwig Kaiser getting the stuffing
00:16:22knocked out of him after being in complete control for about six minutes. And Kaiser though,
00:16:29this wildly... Knight! Oh, and the neckbreaker from behind. This is the kind of grit that took
00:16:35L.A. Knight to the United States Championship. May well be on the way to defending success.
00:16:46Elbow to Kaiser, cover by Knight to retain. Kick out by Kaiser in two. He hit the nail on the head
00:16:53earlier, Wade. Can you imagine if Kaiser could win the gold here tonight? It'll give him some
00:16:58even more momentum for the World Championship defense of Guthrie, his fellow Imperium member
00:17:03and country. Then tomorrow night, Guthrie, even though he's from Austria, has sort of adopted
00:17:09Germany as his homeland. Trained here, developed as a top sportsman here, and don't the people of
00:17:17Germany love him for it? And Knight into the corner, and the knee to the side of the face of Kaiser.
00:17:23L.A. Knight got that much-needed first championship retention out of the way last week.
00:17:30Inverted atomic drop, missed wildly the clothesline. Kaiser misses as well. Knight off the ropes, and
00:17:35he runs into the kick by Kaiser. Quickly, to the cover, to win the title. What's the leg? Is it
00:17:39enough? Almost had him, two and a half. Ludwig Kaiser showing all the frustrations knowing how
00:17:46close he was to becoming a singles champion. Take another look at his athleticism and timing
00:17:54from the German. Almost scored in the W. Kaiser is such a great in-ring technician.
00:18:01It's just beautiful to watch Kaiser work in the ring, and now the right and left exchange
00:18:06between these two men. Chet Mean and Challenger, the United States title.
00:18:16Down goes Kaiser, and Knight's got him where he wants him. And this audience feels it slipping
00:18:22away from the hometown boy, Ludwig Kaiser. Went for BFT, Kaiser rolls him up, grabs the tights,
00:18:31kick at two. Trying to steal one there.
00:18:37On his line. Ludwig Kaiser just refusing to die in this matchup. Kaiser with a kick. Champion's in
00:18:46trouble again, and every time Knight starts to build a little momentum, Kaiser is able to get
00:18:50right back in the matchup. That was a kick eerily reminiscent of Miroslav Kloser for Germany,
00:18:57straight to the jaw of the megastar. Kaiser rolls. For the win. Is it enough to win the title?
00:19:03Knight stays in it at two. Just milliseconds away, and that championship is getting closer
00:19:09and closer to the waist of Ludwig Kaiser. Kaiser is feeding off this capacity crowd in Berlin.
00:19:18Ludwig Kaiser at his rapacious best.
00:19:22Okay, Knight. Knight, though, from behind. Drives his knee to the back of the neck of Kaiser.
00:19:28And this is that championship caliber that LA Knight has shown he's got. Down goes Kaiser.
00:19:35Here is your winner, and still the United States Champion, LA Knight!
00:20:02Incredible matchup here tonight on Friday Night SmackDown. LA Knight retains
00:20:07much of the chagrin of the crowd here in Germany, as their countryman Ludwig Kaiser
00:20:13came oh so close. Take another look at this. Just as Kaiser was going in, well, LA Knight was going
00:20:20in for the kill. Kaiser with that Kaiser roll, followed up by LA Knight hitting that BFT.
00:20:26And when LA Knight connects with that, there is only one result. Successful defense in the first
00:20:34open championship defense by LA Knight. But what has to be said, Cole, Ludwig Kaiser,
00:20:41that was his first singles opportunity for a championship here in WWE. I promise after a
00:20:47performance like that, it will not be his last. Cannot wait to call his matches when I move to
00:20:52That's on Monday night in Denver with Joe Tessitore. I'll be on Friday for Graves starting

00:27:45Immediately when he got to the back, Baron Corbin was waiting for him and mocked him for it. Once
00:27:50upon a time, nobody mocked Legado Delta and Pazma because they feared them. Something has changed.
00:27:56They need to get that fear back from the locker room and it starts tonight. And that's what they're
00:28:00hoping to do tonight against Cruz and Corbin. Apollo Cruz, of course, 6'1", 240. He has all the
00:28:07tools, powerhouses you see here. He can also fly with the best of them. Tremendous vertical suplex
00:28:12delayed here by Cruz. And I'm with you. I really like this pairing of Corbin and Cruz. They feel
00:28:18rejuvenated. They feel like guys who are on the rise. But here's what you're going to remember.
00:28:22Cover by Cruz. Hooks the leg and a kickout. Since linking up as a tag team, Cruz and Corbin
00:28:28are 0-2. They simply haven't got the results yet. I ask them about it. They say it's about
00:28:33building chemistry. Get a little better every week. The results will come. They are not panicked.
00:28:37Well, and again, Wade, there's no doubt as the tags made and Angel now legal for most cars.
00:28:42There's no doubt Corbin is a great tag team competitor. He won the NXT tag titles with
00:28:46Ron Breaker. So he knows how to get it done. He knows how to develop chemistry. And to your point,
00:28:50it takes a while sometimes. Yeah, and I'll tell you this about Corbin is a born winner,
00:28:55Golden Gloves champ, champ here at WWE, NFL lineman. This guy has all the tools and the
00:29:02link up with another guy that I admire greatly in Apollo. Almost can't miss. When you want to talk
00:29:06about chemistry, though, talk about Virgo and Angel. Los Garza. These two are cousins. They've
00:29:12wrestled together for over a decade since their days back in Mexico. Sometimes you just need a
00:29:17little bit of added motivation. They've been around each other a long time and Santos Escobar
00:29:22leading them the riot act and glaring at them from ringside will certainly do that.
00:29:28Corbin has been dominating. And this is what Corbin needs to get back to. This is what we've
00:29:34seen from him in years past. Now the double team. And this is that chemistry. This is what we were
00:29:39talking about. This is why Los Garza are such an effective tag team. They're both third generation
00:29:44superstars. Oh, running knee from Angel. Did you like it? Angel the grandson of El Ninja.

00:30:01Also a third generation luchador sent over the top rope by the very powerful Corbin.
00:30:08Spanning their playbook week by week are Corbin and Cruz. You never quite know what to expect
00:30:13from these two. Cruz will make some calmness TV. Former United States champion and
00:30:20intercontinental champion in his own right. And now Corbin launches Cruz over the top rope.

00:59:55of defeat i'll tell you this about carmelo hayes he will not stop until he gets ultimate victory

01:01:47him but with one bad wheel that simply can't be the case and speaking of knees uh after the show

01:02:03moonsault down you have to think with mellow's mind on his knee perhaps not fully in the matchup
01:02:09at this point i've seen him avoid that move a couple of times previously mellow ain't a hundred
01:02:14percent this is desperation time for carmelo hayes andrade a former nxt champion united states
01:02:21champion as well yeah proven pedigree at the top of the card in wwe design karate

01:03:03and again mellow uh really favoring the right knee yeah this is the problem for mellow this
01:03:09is usually the point he moves up to fifth gear turns it up on his opponent and there's no way
01:03:14to hide from that he simply cannot move as quickly as he normally does so much of his
01:03:19offense is based on his agility and his athleticism so smooth in the ring battle to battle as good as
01:03:25i have ever seen at this level is mellow and he keeps getting better every single week north
01:03:30american champion in nxt two-time nxt champion well and now andrade looking for three amigos
01:03:37nope carmelo hayes standing switch andrade drives into the corner roll through andrade
01:03:45powering hayes up and i'm ready showing off his power there cover stacks him up and a kick out
01:03:50at two poorly maintained turnbuckle in the corner they got ripped off halfway through that move

01:05:19difference maker this could be the difference maker carmelo andrade high above the ring

01:05:38just by a quarter of a millisecond check this out the agility power and timing of andrade
01:05:46took so much out of himself it took three or four seconds to make the pin that was the difference
01:05:52that's what's interesting about andrade he's deceptively strong we know about his quickness
01:05:57he's lucha style but he's a very powerful man he's showing that off tonight and he's evolved
01:06:01his game as he's grown here in wwe realized lucha alone simply wasn't gonna get it done
01:06:08now he's as well-rounded as they come gonna beat respect into each other andrade
