00:00Toad and the Whale
00:06It was a hot summer's day on the island of Sodor, and Oliver's brake van, Toad, was feeling particularly happy.
00:16I do like to be beside the seaside. Oh, I do like to be beside the sea.
00:24Oh, this sunshine's got your head, Toad. But if you feel like singing, you carry on.
00:31Okay then, Mr Oliver, I will.
00:34Oh, I do like to stroll along the prom, prom, prom, where the Bronx...
00:40But it wasn't long before Oliver got fed up of Toad singing.
00:45When I'm down beside the sea, I'm beside myself with glee, beside the seaside, beside the sea.
00:52Oh dear, you never hear such a noise on the Great Western.
00:57This is what happens when Toad's in a good mood.
01:00Sorry, Mr Duck, I didn't mean any offence.
01:04I know, Toad, but perhaps it would be best if we all did our work quietly.
01:15Mr Oliver, look, it's a whale.
01:19You'll never believe this, Duck. Toad says he's seen a whale. That's not a very good joke.
01:26But it's not a joke.
01:29You need to be a bit more serious, Toad.
01:32Perhaps you should concentrate on being a really useful brake van instead of singing or making jokes.
01:39Yes, Mr Oliver.
01:46Isn't it a lovely day, Toad?
01:49It was, Mr Thomas, until I saw that...
01:53Oh, never mind, you'll just laugh too.
01:56No, I won't, Toad.
01:58What?
01:59I saw a whale on the beach at Bluff's Cove.
02:03He imagined it, Thomas.
02:05Come on, Toad, all that sun's gone to your head.
02:10Toad was very upset that Oliver wouldn't take him seriously.
02:15He didn't say a word all the way back from Knapford.
02:19Are you okay, Toad?
02:21Truth be told, I'm a bit sad.
02:24First you stopped me singing, then you told Thomas I imagined seeing that whale.
02:31I'm sorry, Toad.
02:33I'm a bit sad.
02:34First you stopped me singing, then you told Thomas I imagined seeing that whale.
02:40I'm sorry I was unkind about your singing.
02:43But...
02:47But what, Mr Oliver?
02:49I don't believe it.
02:51There is a whale, Toad.
02:56I'm so sorry I doubted you.
02:58I told you.
03:00And your whale on the beach needs help.
03:03You're right, Toad.
03:04We must alert the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre.
03:12Emergency at Bluff's Cove! On the beach!
03:16Is it a fire?
03:18Maybe it's a shipwreck.
03:20Duty calls!
03:30Oliver and Toad help the search and rescue team by bringing water to keep the whale wet.
03:40What are they doing now?
03:42It looks like Butch is going to move the whale closer to the sea so it can swim away.
03:52The tide's too far out, sir.
03:55Harold's right.
03:56You can't pull a whale all that way, Butch.
03:58It just won't survive.
04:00Oh dear. Is there nothing else they can do, Mr Oliver?
04:05I don't know, Toad.
04:07But if there is, I'm sure they'll do it.
04:10Oliver and Toad watched as the whale was covered over to protect it from the hot sun.
04:17And trenches were dug around the whale to keep it wet as Flynn and Belle pumped water over it.
04:24When the tide comes back in, the whale can swim away.
04:28But that will take hours.
04:30Why don't they just pick the whale up and take it to Brendam Docks?
04:34The water's really deep there, so it could just swim away.
04:38Oh, Toad.
04:40Let's just let the search and rescue team get on with their job.
04:44Come on.
04:45We need to take these empty water tankers back to Knapford.
04:50At Knapford, all the engines were talking about the beached whale.
04:55You didn't imagine the whale then, Toad?
04:58No, Mr Thomas.
05:00What's wrong now? Aren't the search and rescue team there?
05:04Yes, but the tide's so far out, I'm worried it won't return in time to save the whale.
05:11I still don't know what's wrong with my idea.
05:16I still don't know what's wrong with my idea of moving the whale to Brendam Docks.
05:22Fizzling fireboxes! That's a brilliant idea, Toad!
05:26It is?
05:27Sir! Sir! Toad's got a plan to save the whale!
05:32What's this, Toad?
05:34I don't know if it'll work, sir.
05:37But I thought that we could lift the whale up and take it to Brendam Docks so it could swim away.
05:43Maybe it could be lifted onto a flatbed or something.
05:46The Fat Controller thought Toad's idea was a good one.
05:50He telephoned the search and rescue manager right away.
05:56And sent Thomas to fetch Rocky.
06:00Everyone was proud to be part of Toad's plan to save the whale.
06:13Do be careful, Rocky.
06:15Don't worry, Toad. I will.
06:26The whale looks very sad and tired.
06:29I wish there was something we could do to make it feel better.
06:33I've heard whales like singing to each other.
06:36Oh, really? And I like singing, too.
06:40Steady, Mr. Oliver. Easy does it.
06:46Oh, you do need to be back in the water.
06:51Oh, you do need to be back in the sea.
06:55Are you sure about this, Toad?
06:58Oh, yes, Mr. Oliver. Whales like singing.
07:01Oh, you do need to go where you can swim, swim, swim.
07:07As Oliver and Toad jumped slowly and steadily to random docks,
07:11everyone came to see the amazing sight of them carrying a whale.
07:20Well, lo and behold.
07:23Is that a whale?
07:25Yes, Cranky. Do you think you can get him back into the water?
07:29I'll do my best.
07:32Goodbye now.
07:35I hope you find your family.
07:51Oh, no. I can't see him, Mr. Oliver.
07:55There he is.
07:57He's safe, Toad. Thanks to you.
08:10From that day on, whenever Toad passed Bluff's Cove,
08:15he always remembered his friend with a song.
08:19Oh, he does like to be back in the water.
08:23Oh, he does like to be back in the sea.
08:27Now he's back inside the sea.
08:29He's beside himself with Glee beyond the seaside,
08:34inside the sea.
