00:00The Frozen Turntable
00:06It was the end of a snowy day on the island of Sodor.
00:11Thomas and his friends were making their way back to Tidmouth Sheds.
00:16But when they got there, they discovered that the turntable was stuck.
00:22It was frozen and it wouldn't turn.
00:27The turntable only pointed to one berth, so only one engine could go into the shed.
00:35I should sleep in the shed. It wouldn't be right for me to sleep out in the snow.
00:42I don't want to sleep out in the snow either, Gordon. Snow and ice are not kind to my paintwork.
00:49What about Percy? He has to pull the mail train tonight. He'll need a berth to come back to.
00:54I don't mind, Thomas. I can find another shed to sleep in.
00:58No, Percy. You should sleep here. We can all find other sheds to sleep in, and we should.
01:08The engines all agreed that Percy would sleep at the sheds that night.
01:15And the rest of the steamies went to find other sheds to sleep in.
01:21They met Flynn coming back from fighting a fire.
01:24Where are you all off to at this time of night?
01:27The turntable is frozen at Tidmouth Sheds. We're all looking for somewhere else to sleep.
01:33There are two empty sheds at the Search and Rescue Centre, if anyone wants to sleep there.
01:37I'm not sleeping at the Search and Rescue Centre.
01:41It will be far too noisy if there's an emergency and the alarm goes off.
01:49So James and Emily went to sleep at the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre.
01:55Thomas and the other engines decided they should ask Victor if there was room at the Steamworks.
02:02Well, my friends, we only have room for two of you to sleep here tonight.
02:08I'm not sleeping here. The Steamworks always makes me think of breaking down.
02:15I'm quite sure I wouldn't get any sleep at all.
02:19Okay, Gordon, but you do need to find a shed for the night.
02:24Sitting out in the snow and ice is not good for an engine.
02:30Gordon, there's an empty shed at Whiff's Waste Dump.
02:33I am not sleeping at a smelly waste dump. It's simply out of the question.
02:40Thomas and Gordon left Henry and Edward to sleep at the Steamworks.
02:46Gordon was sure he could find a better place to sleep.
02:51Then they met Norman, pulling his last load of the day.
02:56Hello, Norman. The turntable at Tidmouth Sheds is frozen.
03:00Do you know a place we can sleep for the night?
03:03There's room for another engine at the Dieselworks, if one of you wants to sleep there.
03:09I'm not sleeping at the Dieselworks. It's too oily and I don't like the smell of their fuel.
03:19So Thomas decided to sleep there instead. Now Gordon was on his own.
03:27I'm sure I can find a better place to sleep than the smelly old Dieselworks.
03:34But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't think of anywhere else to sleep.
03:41Then an idea flew into Gordon's funnel.
03:45What silly engines! They've all gone off to sleep in other sheds.
03:51But the turntable is sure to be working by now.
03:56But the turntable wasn't working. It was still stuck in the same place.
04:02And there was still only one berth that an engine could get into.
04:08What silly engines! I know where I am going to sleep tonight.
04:15It was very late indeed by the time Percy got back from pulling the mail train.
04:20He was tired and ready to go to sleep. But the berth was not empty.
04:26Gordon!
04:27Oh, what is it? I'm sleeping.
04:30Move in, Gordon, and make room. I need a place to sleep too, you know.
04:35I'm not sleeping.
04:37Oh, what is it? I'm sleeping.
04:40Move in, Gordon, and make room. I need a place to sleep too, you know.
04:45Nonsense, Percy. This berth is too small for two engines.
04:51If you need somewhere to sleep, there's a spare shed at Whiff's Waste Dump.
04:58Percy was not very happy. But he was too tired to argue with Gordon.
05:04So he headed off to sleep at Whiff's Waste Dump instead.
05:08Gordon liked the idea of having Tidmouth Sheds all to himself.
05:13I really should ask the Fat Controller to give me a shed of my own.
05:20It's much more peaceful without all those other engines chattering and making noise.
05:29But then the men started working on the turntable again.
05:35They were being very noisy. Gordon found it very hard to get any sleep at all.
05:42Before he knew it, it was morning, and his fireman was warming up his firebox so he could pull the express.
05:52Then the men got the turntable working again. But no sooner had it turned away from Gordon, it stopped.
06:00The cold weather really didn't agree with it.
06:07Gordon was very surprised. He was ready to go. It was time to pull the express.
06:15But the turntable wouldn't turn back. It was well and truly stuck again.
06:21And that meant Gordon was stuck too.
06:24Oh, the indignity!
06:29The Fat Controller was very cross.
06:32He wanted to know why Gordon hadn't picked up his passengers that morning.
06:38What are you doing in here? Edward told me Percy was going to sleep in the shed.
06:44Oh, I'm sorry, sir, but I needed somewhere to sleep as well.
06:51Percy slept at the dump. I didn't know I was going to get stuck.
06:59Then Percy arrived, looking bright and cheery.
07:02Good morning, everyone!
07:04Very well, then. Percy can pull James' coaches today, and James can pull the express.
07:12But I pull the express!
07:15Well, you can't pull it if you're stuck in here, now can you, Gordon?
07:20Uh, uh, oh...
07:25The Fat Controller stayed at the sheds to supervise work on the turntable.
07:30All Gordon could do was wait and wait.
07:34I wish I could go out and do my job like a really useful engine.
07:43At last, the workmen got the turntable turning again.
07:50And Gordon steamed eagerly out of the shed.
07:54And Gordon steamed eagerly out of the shed.
07:59But it was already getting dark, and the other engines were coming back for the night.
08:06Gordon was very disappointed.
08:09I haven't done anything really useful all day.
08:14Then you shall do something really useful all night.
08:20You shall pull the mail train tonight, Gordon.
08:24Oh, no! The mail train is a job for a small engine, sir.
08:29No, Gordon, the tables have turned.
08:33Tonight, the mail train is a job for you.
08:40Oh, the indignity!
