A man’s attempt to avoid hitting a monkey led to a tragic accident on the Malau-Kuala Ketil trunk road in Baling, Kedah, on Saturday (Aug 31), resulting in the deaths of his wife and mother.

00:06Ketil trunk road on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of his wife and mother.
00:12In the 6.12pm crash, 26-year-old Siti Norhaslisa Kamaruddin and 69-year-old Omi Kalsomman were
00:19severely injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
00:2227-year-old Mohamed Fadzil and his three-year-old son, Luf Mikhael, escaped the accident unhurt
00:29while his two-year-old daughter, Lufia Mikhaila, is receiving treatment at the hospital.
00:35Acting Baling Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Charan Aiwan reported that the family was
00:41returning from a trip to Sungai Sedimkulim en route to their home in Bedong, Sungai Petani.
00:47Investigations indicated that Mohamed Fadzil swerved left to avoid a monkey crossing the
00:53road, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into nearby bushes.
00:58Fadzil and his children were rushed to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani for
01:04treatment while the bodies of the deceased were sent to Kulim Hospital for a post-mortem
01:09examination.
01:11The case is being investigated under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act,
01:171987.
