Fishermen condemn recent South China Sea collision incident

Fishermen from Batangas, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Laguna, and Cavite held a Fluvial Parade in the waters of Calatagan, Batangas on Sunday, September 1, to condemn the recent collision of a Chinese Coast Guard vessel with the Philippine Coast Guard’s BRP Teresa Magbanua at Sabina (Escoda) Shoal, 75 nautical miles from Palawan Island.  Chinese Coast Guard vessel 5205 repeatedly rammed the Philippine Coast Guard's BRP Teresa Magbanua. The Chinese vessel first struck the Philippine ship's port bow, then turned and collided with its starboard quarter, before finally striking its port bow again. These aggressive maneuvers resulted in significant damage to the Philippine vessel, leaving holes in various parts of its hull. 00:49Good morning, I am RJ Villena, spokesperson of the Alliance for Peace and Democracy.

00:55This morning, we held a fluvial protest to condemn, especially the most recent incident in Escoda Shoal.

01:04This was attended by Teresa Magbanua and our fellow Coast Guard.

01:09We are doing this to condemn and to insist that this is not right.

01:15This is not humane. This is not fair to anyone who is fishing in the sea.

01:22This is not fair to anyone.

01:27China is forcing us to do this.

01:31They are really forcing us to do this

01:35so that we can take action and tell them that we are bullying them.

01:40But the truth is, they are the ones who are bullying.

01:43Because of the poll, they did not respect the UN Clause,

01:46they did not respect the 2016 Arbitral Ruling,

01:50and most of all, they do not recognize any country in the world.

01:54Especially the West Philippine Sea, which they are trying to gate.

01:59Even in the 18th century, we know that there are signs that this is in the Philippines.

02:06But it was only in the 1940s when they claimed that the West Philippine Sea is theirs.

02:11But what are they doing?

02:13They are using this to build artificial reefs, artificial islands,

02:20and they are building military bases on the islands adjacent to the West Philippine Sea.

02:27This is too much.

02:28They should stop this because the people are already full.

02:32The people already know that the Filipinos are already full of what China is doing.

02:38We are the West Philippine Sea!
