00:00Hi, Albert, how do you feel? Do you feel like you deserve the point?
00:03Or do you think you're getting the view as well that Red Card is here
00:06for the century, for the rest of the season?
00:09I think overall it's a deserved point, yes.
00:12First half we were in two situations, a little bit lucky when they missed the goal.
00:15We had a great goalkeeper today, we will need a great goalkeeper here at Stamford Bridge.
00:21And the 1-0 was completely deserved at half-time,
00:26but then we had one or two adaptions and the players did fantastic in the second half.
00:32I had the feeling when we were in our shape that Chelsea didn't find the space
00:36and they didn't find moments, and we were always dangerous in our transitions.
00:40Then we had set-plays, we had finishes,
00:42but at the end we also could see their quality, their pace in offence.
00:47But we defended fantastic and then in one situation we needed the goalkeeper again,
00:53and he was here, Dean.
00:54So overall, I think because of the second half, it's a deserved point
01:00and it's very important for us to go into the international break with one point in the league.
01:06Would it be fair to say that the introduction of Di Cori gave you some control
01:12that you hadn't had previously? It felt like it shifted the momentum?
01:16There were more situations, yes, Checky did fantastic,
01:20but we were also a little bit deeper in the shape and what we found in possession,
01:25this was the most important thing, because you can't defend 90 minutes or 45 in your own half
01:31and you always need your moments in offence,
01:33and we didn't find them in the first half very often.
01:35We had them, but the whole preparation was to find the opposite ten in the pocket,
01:42and he was always free, but we never found him.
01:45We always played into the pressure and lost the ball in transition,
01:49and then this is one of the strengths with the pace,
01:51and we showed them two clips at half-time,
01:55because they were always free, either the opposite ten or the opposite wing-back,
01:58because with Munoz and Mitchell we have great runners outside,
02:01and this we did much better, and so we got the game more in their half,
02:04especially in the final third, we had some set-plays, we had some situations,
02:08we created chances, and so really,
02:10congrats to the team that they could adapt it so quickly at half-time.
02:13Do you always show clips at half-time?
02:16Yes.
02:17Do you limit how many, in case it's too much?
02:20No, it's maximum two or three, and for me it was clear when I saw it outside,
02:24and the journalists come down, I said to them,
02:27guys, we have so many chances, but we don't use them.
02:32And it is, because how they play, how aggressively they play,
02:35and also how they press, it's important to let them run,
02:39and with the heat today, to switch the sides,
02:41and we always found our sixes in great position,
02:44but we played again into the pressure,
02:46and then we started to switch the play,
02:48and then we got the moments,
02:49also when we had the chance from Daiji Kamada at the end,
02:52we found the run, and we were with players in the cut-back,
02:57and so we created moments, I think we had four or five corners,
03:01and I think this was crucial for coming back.
03:08You've had a lot of speculation to deal with,
03:10and your players have you in the transfer window,
03:13are you already feeling a more settled team out of the window's close,
03:16and you've managed to keep hold of several players you were tipped to lose,
03:19does it already feel like it's more settled?
03:22It was very important for us, with all the circumstances,
03:25we were here today with 14 on-field players from our first-team squad,
03:28because of some injuries, and the new players couldn't play today,
03:31and four on-field players from our squad, four from the under-21s,
03:36and then coming here with two defeats is not the best situation,
03:41and then being down 1-0 at half-time,
03:43and this is a lot of respect for the players' belief, for the trust,
03:48but we showed them that they always kept going.
03:52So, really, congrats to the team for this togetherness and for this belief,
03:57and so we got the reward.
03:59I just wondered how your goalkeeper was,
04:00because he took quite a thumb for the goal and made some great saves.
04:05I said to him, sometimes it's good when you get a knock.
04:08No, he did brilliant, but we knew we would need him here at Stamford Bridge,
04:13with their team, with the quality they have.
04:16I think against any team, they will have their chances,
04:19because there's such a good player, good structure in the game,
04:22and we knew we would need him.
04:24Of course, at the end, we could see there's one ball in behind,
04:27and we could see Jackson's pace, but also I think it was Natalya Klein,
04:31with everything he had, I think he knew that he could do it.
04:37You can't get the ball, but it's a difference if you hear or feel
04:42the defender with the press in your back, and that's so important.
04:46And then, yeah, Dean saved the ball.
04:49How much work have you done with Dean Henderson since you've been at the Palace?
04:52Because he had a difficult time when he arrived,
04:54injuries and a lack of confidence, and now he's basically won you a point.
04:58Is he one of the players you've worked a lot with?
05:01Hopefully. I haven't worked any minute with him,
05:04because he's the goalkeeper's coach who's working with the goalkeepers.
05:07Dean Keeley does all the work on the pitch, yes, we talk about it,
05:12and we give him the confidence that he's our number one,
05:17but it's not because he's a nice guy.
05:19He's a nice guy as well, but he has a lot of quality,
05:21and we knew it, we can see it in every training.
05:24He's very hard-working, so just to show his character.
05:27He was in the team with England in the final,
05:30and then all the international players had three weeks off,
05:35but we were in the USA at this time, and he said,
05:38OK, I come with the team to the USA after two weeks off,
05:40so it shows just his character, and this I really appreciate.
05:46It's fair to say he's changed, though,
05:47from the kind of stuff around him a few months ago.
05:51He's different to what he is now, is that fair to say?
05:53I don't know, because I don't know what happened before,
05:55but for me, from the first day when I arrived,
05:58we had two fantastic goalkeepers, Sam Johnson and Dean Henderson,
06:01and unfortunately Sam injured in the international break,
06:07and then Dean was here, and this is how a football team,
06:10how competition works, you have to be ready to help the team,
06:14and Dean was ready from the first day.
06:17He accepted the role because there was a switch of goalkeepers
06:19before I arrived, just the game before at Everton,
06:22and Sam did a brilliant job there,
06:24and so it was not for me to change everything,
06:27so when you arrive new, and he accepted it and worked very hard,
06:30and now he gets the reward for his character and his hard-working mentality.
06:34Jürgen, how happy are you with the score tonight?
06:37You've got Shalaba, Lacroix and Mkezi added to the squad,
06:40the performance you got out there today.
06:43Very happy, and we need it, so I'm very happy that Mark Gay is still with us,
06:47and then we know that we have to keep our key players as well,
06:53so it's really great what the club and our owners decided to keep Mark,
07:02and also Mark didn't push for leaving us, and it's the same.
07:07When I see all the circumstances that we have,
07:10and we know it but we never discuss it,
07:11it's because I don't want to complain,
07:13because if you always complain, I don't feel like a victim,
07:16and when you always complain, you look like a victim.
07:19They had 10 days pre-season, and since then they played every single minute in the games,
07:26and that's why Mark had a cramp at the end today.
07:28It's the third game this week, playing 100 minutes every game with no pre-season.
07:34It's unbelievable how they perform, it's unbelievable what they do,
07:38because I was a player for 19 years, and I know after 10 days you are far away from being fit,
07:43but they do it with their passion, with their desire to help the team,
07:48and it shows me from the first day that they are really pleased to be a Crystal Palace player,
07:54and this is what I really appreciate.
07:57How long will it take to integrate the new players, though, and get them to help you?
08:02We keep working, and of course it's now nine or ten players going to the national team,
08:07so I think our South American players will arrive Thursday,
08:12when we play Leicester, on Saturday.
08:17I hope that everyone comes back fit and we will use the time to integrate all the other players,
08:22but we have to work very individually.
08:24Mateta played one week before the Premier League start, he played the Olympic final,
08:28so he will get off the first week.
08:30Adam Wharton, he has the same, he has just two weeks off.
08:35He struggles a little bit with problems, so we have to treat him individually,
08:39so he can't train the next week.
08:43And we have other players, Tim Mitchell played every single minute,
08:46and we have other new players coming in, so it's very, very individual,
08:49but we will do the best.
08:51And then in the second week we will get the group together and prepare for Leicester,
08:55and I think then we have the Carabao Cup, and I don't know what comes next.
08:59Lady there on the right.
09:01Premier League is drawing an end to last season,
09:04how important was today's performance for you in bringing it to that level?
09:10Yes, we're always speaking about it, and for me, as I mentioned before,
09:13with many situations you do not wish to have,
09:18but it's to deal with it in the best way, in the most positive way,
09:22and this is the same for the players.
09:24And this is great for me, as I managed to work with such great characters together,
09:28and it's not the first time I mention it,
09:30but it's because I'm really convinced of this group.
09:38So it's very important, to be honest, after two defeats, to get the belief,
09:42and we could see if we work together as a team,
09:45we always create our situations, we always create our chances.
09:49It makes it difficult for the opposite team to create chances against us.
09:52Yes, we know in some situations we are maybe a little bit vulnerable in transition,
09:57how we got the goal, for example,
09:59but then also sometimes we have to say well done to the opposite team,
10:04because this was well done, the sprint of Madhu Aker,
10:07the right moment of the pass and the running from Cole Palmer,
10:10and then he was, I don't know, three inches before Clyney on the ball.
10:14So, yeah, it's important.
10:22Yeah, Jefferson Lerner has a problem with his toe.
10:26After the day off he came back and the toe hurts,
10:29so he couldn't step into the boot and then of course he can't play.
10:33But we don't know at the moment where it comes from, but he had too much pain.
10:39And Rob is training individually at the moment,
10:42so we talk together and he knows the reason,
10:47but it's something that stays between Rob and me and nothing for the public.
11:02It would be clear if nobody comes in that Odson would be here, of course.
11:09OK, is that it? Thank you very much, everyone.
11:11Cheers.
