00:00Let's see what chicken and rice does to my blood sugar.
00:03This is exactly 6 oz of chicken and 6 oz of rice.
00:07I picked this up at a local kebab restaurant.
00:10Altogether it's got 480 calories, 43 grams of protein, 6 grams of fat, and 45 grams of carbohydrates.
00:19So there's a lot of carbs in this meal and there's quite a bit of protein as well from the chicken
00:23so I'm curious to see what it's going to do to my blood sugar.
00:27Alright, it's been a couple of hours since I've had the chicken and rice.
00:30Let's have a look at the glucose monitor to see what actually happened here.
00:34There's the spike. This went up by 52 mg. That's quite a big spike.
00:39And this is obviously caused by the white rice which is a very starchy food.
00:44That starch gets digested very quickly into the bloodstream causing this blood sugar spike that you see right here.
00:51Even though I had a decent amount of protein with this meal, it still wasn't enough to keep this blood sugar spike down.
