00:10It is the nine-time Austrian national champion Umar Chambekov returning for the first time here
00:16in 2024, taking on the Texas native and San Antonio's Eddie Ortiz. TJ DeSantis along with
00:24Pro Gonzalez. We are inside the Chumash Casino Resort, appreciate you joining us tonight for

00:34Silver, Ortiz in the white. You mentioned the experience of Chambekov, you know only eight
00:45fights into his pro career but he said he literally can't remember a moment of his life where he
00:49wasn't boxing in one shape or form and that has been on display as a pro and right now he's
00:56forced to be defensive with a very aggressive Eddie Ortiz. Both gentlemen came out and got
01:00right to work here, landing some good shots around the pipe. I think they both have great defense
01:07and it's kind of hard to come straight down the middle for these guys but they're finding their
01:10shots around the guard. And we'll see if aggression is a focal point for Chambekov
01:17early. We had a chance to speak with him earlier this week and he said you know in a previous fight
01:22he was in there with a very tough Kwame Ritter and he was surprised when he went back and looked at
01:27the tape and saw that for the better part of four rounds he wasn't doing as well as he thought he
01:32was in the midst of the fight. Yes that was very interesting he said but you know he the biggest
01:38thing that he has found in his professional career is accountability within his profession,
01:44within his own sport, within himself. And so he went back took a look at his tape and
01:50you know has worked on these things. Coming up on the halfway point here of this opening round.

02:04they're finding their targets. Both landing effective shots as well.

02:41And finding openings you can see that Ortiz is wearing this on his body already.
02:46His head's red, his face is red, his body's red and you can see how effective these shots from Umar are.

03:14Oh nice left uppercut by Chambekov. Oh my goodness it started with a beautiful left
03:18hook to the liver, excuse me right hook to the liver.

03:27What an opening round between these two light heavyweights. Solid stuff. Oh my goodness and we
03:32knew that we knew that this was going to be a very intelligent chess match and we are seeing that
03:37neither one of these athletes are unwilling to step back. They don't want range, they don't
03:42want to take a second to reset. They are going to work shot for shot, combination for combination,
03:48finding each other's openings, finding each other's timing and they're doing it through
03:53effective striking. A look now here at Eddie Ortiz's corner and this is going to be one of
03:59those fights where I think Pearl they're they're both very evenly matched up and it's going to be
04:04you know a factor of who makes the proper adjustments and fight IQ is going to be
04:08a big thing in determining who is going to win this fight and we mentioned Chambekov,
04:13you said this is kind of a chess match, he's the chess player of the two. We'll see if he
04:18tries to show off that high fight IQ as we head into round number two.
04:29Round two underway again TJ DeSantis along with Pearl Gonzalez, Umar Chambekov,
04:34the nine-time Austrian national champ in the blue and silver taking on Eddie Ortiz.

04:47Ortiz is also very intelligent in here he's you can see that he doesn't fight on emotion and he
04:55takes pride in that being an athlete he says this is fun to him and you can see that he's he's been
05:01hit with some good shots and he's still moving very intelligently you can tell he's reading
05:06his opponent here and and looking for his openings himself.
05:09Everything thrown with bad intentions from both of these gentlemen here
05:14in the second round again scheduled for eight.

05:25Thunderous body shots there by Chambekov now trying to make some space pushing Ortiz away.

06:51Beautiful combination from Omar here. John Bekoff doing a good job at mixing up his targets
06:56going to the body and the head. He's very creative with his shots. Comes around the
07:02guard, under the guard, straight through it. I mean very effective. Very creative. Forced
07:08to reach forward and grab that clinch is Ortiz. Coming up on the final ten seconds
07:13of the second frame. More volume, more combinations here on display from John Bekoff. Great combination
07:21from Omar here. Left hand gets through by Ortiz. Two down. Solid stuff there on display.
07:31Again a very competitive match unfolding. This one again I hate to echo the same thing
07:37I said after round one, but I think it comes down to tactics and who's going to make the
07:40adjustments. Yes and I think Omar did a great job in that round making the adjustments,
07:45finding the openings in the body. Let's take a look. These were the left head hooks that
07:49he landed multiple times. Same shot. And you know Eddie just had a really hard time reading
07:56and dealing with that. As you can see he smiled and addressed it. But Omar did a great job
08:01I think in this round of getting really creative and finding openings throughout the body.

08:44Beautiful jab from Omar here. It's crisp. You look at both of these guys, both aggressive
08:56but it's Chumbekoff that is always throwing with 2-3 punch combinations. Big overhand
09:02left hand from Omar there. Oh beautiful. Speed on display from Chumbekoff. Yes he looks to
09:10have the speed advantage in this fight here. And volume. I feel like he's throwing more
09:16volume right now and that might be due to all the body work. You know they call it money
09:30in the bank when you land those body shots early and they do pay dividends down the stretch.
09:34The longer the fight goes the more those body strikes tend to wear on a fighter and kind
09:39of slow him down. Yes and I could see that in the ending of that last round where he's
09:45taking a big deep breath, looked to be wearing the fight a little more than Omar and Omar
09:50did find some really good targets in the last round and still is in this round as well.
09:56Ortiz coming forward a bit more in this round. Chumbekoff content to maybe take a few steps
10:00back but he's still the one throwing more volume I think is Chumbekoff. He is. He's
10:04throwing his punches and bunches and is effective with that and able to land more effective
10:10shots because of the volume, because of the combinations that he's putting together. Ortiz
10:17has great power. He really does and he has sharp beautiful shots but they're far and
10:22few between compared to what Omar is throwing right now. And do you think the output by
10:27Ortiz has been stunted by the volume and the body work of Chumbekoff? Yes. Omar is coming
10:34from all many different angles. It's hard to read and it's almost stopping Ortiz in
10:41his tracks as you just saw there. Beautiful combination. You can start to see the wear
10:47and tear on the face under that left eye of Eddie Ortiz. Touch over 30 seconds remain
10:56here in this third round. Omar doing a great job of pulling Ortiz right now. Allowing for
11:06him to come forward and still finding a great position for himself to set up his combinations.
11:16Left hand gets through by Ortiz. Beautiful timing on that. But answered. And answered
11:24with volume and even a little nod and a wink by Chumbekoff. Well he's got the new nickname
11:31of pretty boy and he's looking pretty good in the ring and it's not just because his
11:34hair broke himself. No it is not. He is putting together some beautiful combinations. He has
11:41fantastic speed in this fight. We can see he has the speed advantage. But the biggest
11:45difference I see is the volume. The volume in his strikes. He's able to land more shots
11:50and it is starting to slow Ortiz down. As we head into round number four let's check
11:55in with Doug Fisher. Doug we see your scorecard there on the screen. All Chumbekoff. Yeah
12:00I've got a 30-27 Chumbekoff. I thought it's a competitive fight so far like you guys say.
12:06It's a chess match. I thought the opening round was really close. The difference was
12:11Chumbekoff was landing with more power as Pearl noted. And in rounds two and three he
12:18was the effective aggressor. All right round four about to get underway. Again scheduled
12:24for eight. Light heavyweights inside the Hollywood Fight Nights ring as we see Umar Chumbekoff
12:31taking on Eddie Ortiz.

13:02He smells blood. Umar's coming strong.
13:08It's the positioning of Umar. He has fantastic... Oh my! Down again is Ortiz. Wow.
13:14Sitting pretty is Umar Chumbekoff as Gerard White lays in the count and pulls it off.
13:23Umar Chumbekoff now 9-0 picking up the sixth knockout of his career.
13:28What a performance TJ. Umar smells the clothes, the blood and he went in and did a fantastic finish.
13:38Pretty boy indeed. Looking good. He did it so beautifully. He did.
13:42I mean his hair looks good too but the boxing skills on display tonight were something else.
13:46Oh my goodness. The positioning in this round were absolutely amazing.
13:51He had such phenomenal positioning. He was able to land these shots and just completely offset Ortiz dead in his tracks.
14:00And a really good competitive fight early but when we saw Chumbekoff start to land cleanly
14:06we start to see the damage show on the face of Ortiz.
14:11It was a matter of time. Two beautiful knockdowns and ultimately a stoppage in that last round.
14:18Umar Chumbekoff shines once again under these Hollywood fight night lights.

14:31and that was the shot that took him completely off of his feet.

14:38Umar Chumbekoff definitely a prospect to keep your eye on as is that man Abel Mejia
14:43had a fight that was basically choreographed from a movie last time out in the Hollywood fight night ring.
14:49He's not working tonight but taking in the sweet science of boxing here live inside Chumash Casino Resort.

14:59Now 9-0 as a pro. Anytime he's competing he's must-see TV pro.
15:05All I can say is wow. This was a competitive, a very competitive fight on paper.
15:10In the opening round it was competitive but Umar very quickly found his openings,
15:15found his advantages and was able to close the show tonight TJ.
15:19And that's exactly what you want from a promising up-and-coming fighter
15:23to recognize your strengths and then exploit them.
15:26And he had a tough customer, the Texas native in Eddie Ortiz.
15:30He doesn't go away quickly or silently but Umar Chumbekoff able to floor him twice
15:36and ultimately able to get to stop him.
15:38And it was so beautiful. The striking was so crisp.
15:42The targets, his ability to find his openings, the positioning, the movement.
15:46It was just, it was pretty.
