Family of sinkhole victim returned home to India on Sunday night

The family of the victim in the sinkhole incident in Jalan Masjid India left for India on Sunday night (Aug 1) after the operation on search and rescue (SAR) was called off and entered the search and recovery phase, last Saturday.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizme Affendy Sulaiman said the victim's husband and son left for home via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

00:52She was reportedly heading towards a nearby temple when she was swallowed by the eight-metre
00:57deep sinkhole.
00:58Despite extensive search efforts, including the use of sniffer dogs and scuba units, the
01:04search-and-rescue team was unable to locate her.
01:08Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said a proposal to compensate the victim's
01:14family will be discussed at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
