00:00Thank you very much.
00:22The hospitality sector employs 3.5 million people across the UK, making it the nation's
00:28third largest employer. It also brings in £93 million to the economy every year. It
00:36is both a vital and a vibrant part of the communities that our National World Title
00:41serve, and that is why we've decided to dedicate September as a special Food and Drink
00:46Month.
00:48We have a long-standing commitment to supporting our local businesses, but we also know when
00:52it comes to food and drink, it's a subject that you love to read about.
00:56We delight in telling you about the new openings, the new looks, the new menus and any other
01:01new initiatives and the people behind them. We also know that we won't be short of responses
01:06when we come to you to say, where would you go for a drink on a sunny summer afternoon?
01:11Where would you recommend for a Sunday roast? Or where would you normally go out to get
01:15your fish and chips supper? And we also look back nostalgically together at the cafes,
01:20the pubs, the restaurants that we used to go to, but are no longer there.
01:25So we dedicate a lot of time throughout the year to supporting the hospitality sector,
01:29but in September we're going to do even more to celebrate the food and drink scenes
01:34in our communities. And our initiative is backed by the UK Hospitality Trade Body.
01:41So please keep coming back to this website throughout the month to find out what wonderful
01:45food and drink is on the menu where you live.
