Transcript
00:00I'm at my regular spot here at Shrewsbury's Sundaun Castle training base on a Thursday morning after we have spoken to the head coach, Gareth Ainsworth, ahead of Shrewsbury's game against Burton Albion this weekend.
00:14The boss kind of reflected a little bit on last week and that defeat to Exeter in League One, obviously a disappointing performance from his side,
00:23and he described it as probably the worst performance that Shrewsbury had put in since he had been in charge.
00:30Described that he felt like they were missing the experience of Aaron Pierre and John Marquis.
00:34Obviously Aaron Pierre, who returns to contention for the game for the squad this weekend, John Marquis still has one match of his three-match suspension to serve.
00:44He obviously now, with the game against Reading being called off, will have not played football for some kind of considerable period of time by the time he becomes available for action once more.
00:56Some other things from the press conference, he did describe it was evident to see how frustrated he was on Saturday at Exeter.
01:05He said that result knocked the stuffing out of him, especially after what happened in the first half when obviously Jamal Blackman saved a penalty.
01:15He kind of felt like Shrewsbury could really kick on from there but they were unable to do so.
01:22Other things heading into the weekend, an update on the fitness of Leo Kasseldein.
01:28He was asked by Stuart Dunne from BBC Radio Shropshire about that during his radio press conference interview.
01:36It doesn't feel like there's any real major update on that.
01:40I'll be likely to see him, I would say not.
01:43He is resting at Chelsea at the moment so we're still no further on really with regards to Leo.
01:51He's a young player so they're taking great care with him which is completely understandable.
01:55I have some questions about Riccardo Di Nanga, about the futures of Jamal Blackman and Dominic Gape.
02:01Those stories will be on the Shropshire Star over probably next week at some stage.
02:06Some more news is that we have Shrewsbury Town assistant coach, assistant manager Richard Dobson on our Shrewsbury News podcast.
02:15He's going to be on there this afternoon and that podcast will also be out next week.
02:19So keep your eyes peeled for that one Shrewsbury fans.
02:22We haven't heard from Gareth Ainsworth, assistant, since his arrival.
02:25We'll be discussing his life, his journey and how he has come to be where he is today.
02:30So keep your eyes peeled for that one.
02:32Big game at the weekend against Burton Albion.
02:34Shrewsbury 11 points adrift with 10 games remaining and they desperately, desperately need a victory.
