00:30Good evening, the guns have fallen silent, the stars have aligned, the
00:45great wait is over. Come and see. This will be televised, however, and
00:49reuniting this week are the volatile duo of Stephen McGinn and Neil
00:53McCann. We begin at Dens Park as free-scoring Dundee welcomes St
00:57Mirren, who after a tough run of fixtures could use a positive result
01:01to take back to Paisley tonight.
01:05St Mirren have had the better of this fixture in recent times, but the
01:09way this season has started, they've probably come into this one as
01:13underdogs. Dundee have started the campaign very impressively and will
01:17aim to extend their unbeaten run into the international window.
01:22McCown's departure is clearly a blow, but it allows recent loan signing
01:26Sammy Braybrooke the opportunity to come in for his debut. Curtis Bain
01:30is also in from the start, with Palmer Holden dropping to the bench.
01:34As St Mirren seek to end a four-game losing run, the return to fitness
01:38of Caelan Boyd-Munst is a timely one. Scott Tanzen and Mikel Mandzon
01:42are also in, with Iakoviti, Brown and Iunga among the substitutes.
01:47And before kick-off at Denz we're going to have a minute's applause
01:51for Chris Gaffrey, a member of Dundee's stadium team,
01:55who passed away recently.
02:07Here's Phillips. Flicks that through for Rooney, who slides it across goal,
02:13and that should have been the opener.
02:16Well, Sean Rooney wonders how on earth that wasn't turned in.
02:21It was good work initially there from Phillips,
02:24and this was just begging to be knocked home.
02:32Fraser.
02:34Lasagne is in there! Good save, McCracken.
02:39Iunga Lasagne has been penalised, possibly for a handball,
02:44and controlling it.
02:46McCracken's asking was he offside, he's definitely not offside.
02:50I think he did use the arm, push it past the defender,
02:53and create the opportunity.
03:02Rooney catches McCracken, that was a bit naughty.
03:06And then he tries to get the loose ball as well,
03:09and the referee has to intervene, and he's going to put Rooney in the book.
03:17I don't think it's for the initial challenge.
03:22It's for catching him on the way down.
03:27A bit of pressure there on Larkesh, and the keeper.
03:31There's the keeper, he's coming back to earth.
03:37Deservedly into the book.
03:55Rooney under severe pressure, and he's given it away to Braybrooke,
03:58and now he's found Murray.
04:01Again hopeful claims of handball,
04:04and almost winning possession back.
04:07Now he's got it.
04:09Breaks the way of Braybrooke.
04:12Murray.
04:14Taylor gets something on it, comes to Cameron,
04:17can Dundee find a way through here?
04:19Silla, invited to shoot, and diverted just wide by Curtis Main.
04:26Best passage of play there for Dundee.
04:30Closest thing we've had to a goal.
04:34Came eventually to Mo Silla.
04:38And although Main changed the direction, couldn't get it on target.
04:51Ole Sanya has nipped it away from Portales.
04:53Ole Sanya!
04:55Terrific finish from Tullosi, Ole Sanya.
04:59And Antonio Portales punished for allowing the ball to bounce,
05:04and it's the visiting fans who celebrate first.
05:12Fourth goal of the season already for Ole Sanya.
05:18It's another really well-taken goal from the striker.
05:23It's just a hopeful ball, really, from Rooney.
05:27But Portales was hesitant.
05:31Ole Sanya wasn't.
05:33He was clinical, and stuck it through the legs of John McCracken.
05:39To give his side the advantage.
05:43Terrific forward play.
05:45And the second Premiership goal of the season for Ole Sanya.
05:52Here's Curtis Main, chance for the equaliser!
06:06Beautifully taken by Curtis Main.
06:09And Dundee quickly back on level terms.
06:14Takes the applause of his manager, and the Dundee faithful.
06:19Long ball, and it's the bounce that beats the defence.
06:24Taylor couldn't deal with it.
06:26And Main, a really composed finish.
06:31Past Balcombe.
06:33And it's five for the season for Curtis Main, his first in the league.
06:39It's good play, it's Tiffany who gets onto it,
06:43the cutback is swept away by Phillips.
06:49Mandroin's done well.
06:52Here's Taylor.
06:54And now Ole Sanya is in again, McCracken out quickly to Smother.
07:04That was a good, slick counter-attack from St Mirren.
07:08Good ball from Taylor.
07:10McCracken had read the danger,
07:13and denied Ole Sanya a second of the afternoon.
07:19Bogic, gone by Tanzer.
07:22Phillips, Larkesh, manages to get it clear,
07:26not very effectively though,
07:28that's gonna come down for Mandroin.
07:30That's a wonderful effort from Mikel Mandroin!
07:33Quite superb.
07:35The quality of finishing in this game has been outstanding,
07:38but that's the pick of the bunch.
07:42It's Larkesh who makes a poor clearance,
07:45and nodded down to Mandroin.
07:48That is finishing of the highest quality.
07:53And Mikel Mandroin opens his account for the season in some style.
08:09Taylor now.
08:11Made some good ground,
08:13and found the pass for Mandroin.
08:16Rooney.
08:18It's a good ball from Rooney, Mandroin's header.
08:21Well wide in the end, just couldn't climb high enough.
08:25St Mirren in the ascendancy.
08:27Really inviting ball that from Rooney.
08:33Not only is St Mirren's record generally speaking against Dundee very good,
08:38their record at Dens in recent times is also excellent,
08:42just one defeat.
08:46In their last eight visits.
08:52Five of those were victories,
08:54and they're on course for another one this afternoon.
08:57Concern there for Willeke Meitio.
09:10Ethan Ingram is the player to get the shout.
09:22It's Braybrooke.
09:24And then come on!
09:25It's Braybrooke.
09:26And in comes the header, and that's not far away.
09:32Dundee within inches of an equaliser.
09:36Antonio Portales, it looked to be...
09:40closest to directing that goal.
09:42Scott Tiffany was in there as well, I think it came on Portales though.
09:55Boyd-Muntz dispossessed.
09:58Forward comes Braybrooke.
10:03O'Hara wins it back though, Boyd-Muntz can't find the pass.
10:14Dundee have won it, here's Tiffany.
10:16Cuts across, Mandrow, and squeezes it through for Cameron.
10:20Cameron, who in turn slides it forward for Larkesh,
10:23to slam home the equaliser.
10:26Another really good finish,
10:28to add to the three we've had already.
10:31It's Tiffany who begins it,
10:33manages to get it through to Cameron,
10:36who bides his time before slipping it for Larkesh.
10:41To score his first Dundee goal.
10:44Really well taken effort.
10:47And stopping that one for Elodie Balcombe.
10:51And it's two apiece.
11:08Mulligan, on for Murray, big chance for Simon Murray!
11:11Great save from Elodie Balcombe.
11:14You don't back Simon Murray to bury that, though.
11:19Mulligan, who just nudged it on for Murray,
11:23and you expected the net to bulge.
11:27Already with half a dozen goals to his credit this season.
11:33That should probably have been number seven for Murray.
11:38Here's Larkesh, sliding it forward,
11:41it'll come for Murray!
11:43Iacobitti with a touch.
11:47It took it over the top.
11:49Not sure if it was going on target otherwise.
11:59Murray might well have been offside,
12:02I don't think he was the initial target for the pass.
12:14Play allowed to continue,
12:16and a couple of meaty challenges,
12:19this time the whistle's gone.
12:26Denner is going to see a yellow card here,
12:29for his challenge in Tiffany,
12:31and maybe for a bit of the afters as well.
12:43Could be close to the last opportunity.
12:56Hoke and O'Hara provide.
12:58Deep ball to the back post.
13:00It's dangerous.
13:02It's Pomona going down, and then...
13:04An effort cleared.
13:06Still it's not entirely away as Gogic fires it over the top.
13:14Pomona felt that he was fouled there,
13:17as the ball came across goal.
13:20Iacobitti's header.
13:23It's Larkesh that's tussling with Pomona there.
13:27Nothing doing, though.
13:37It's all over at Dens,
13:39Dundee have come from behind again to take a point.
13:45Samirian denied a long-awaited victory,
13:48but they do stop the run of defeats.
13:51Ziad Larkesh with the second equaliser to earn his side a point.
13:56It does feel just about right,
13:58might have had a winner if Simon Murray had been able to bury one of his opportunities.
14:05But as it is, a game that had four top-quality goals ends all square.
14:11It's Dundee 2, St Mirren 2.
14:15When you play a team like St Mirren,
14:17that are as well-organised, as good as they do,
14:19and you create as many chances as that,
14:21you're playing okay and on another day you would win the game.
14:24But I need to give huge credit to the players for their reaction.
14:28Losing their captain, going out and putting up a performance like that after going behind twice
14:33is testament to the group.
14:35The second-half reaction from the boys was exactly what was needed to get back in the game.
14:39Unfortunately we couldn't go on and get the winner,
14:41but overall it was a pretty pleasing performance.
14:44It isn't lessons for everybody,
14:46but overall it showed the character when Dundee were on top in the second half.
14:50We stayed strong, we defended set play brilliantly well.
14:53I'm positive, could we have nicked it?
14:56Dundee will probably think the same, so there wasn't a lot in it,
14:58and perhaps it's a fair result in the end.
15:00It was kind of a point for us to try and get more draws.
15:03If we can't get a win, instead of getting a loss,
15:06try and get a point, and we did that today.
15:09A very even and entertaining game at Dens Park.
15:12A good point for St Mirren, Neil,
15:14obviously stopping that run of defeats,
15:16and it was Ousania who got St Mirren up and running.
15:19A good finish, but poor defending from Dundee.
15:21Yeah, good point for Dundee as well.
15:23Great game, I have to say, I really, really enjoyed it.
15:25But when Portalis looks back at this and does his analysis,
15:28then he'll want his centre-back to go and meet that at his highest point.
15:31You can't let it bounce, not with this guy,
15:33he's too quick, he's too powerful, and it's a really smart finish.
15:37I just wonder whether John McCracken could have done better as well,
15:40maybe died with his body, but as we just get a wee freeze on it
15:43as it comes in on the punt forward,
15:46and it's a good old-fashioned just turn the defence
15:48because of the pace of Ousania.
15:49He's not looking at the ball, Portalis is,
15:52he's just got to go and meet it.
15:53As soon as he lets that bounce, the power, the pace,
15:57the intention of Ousania kicks in, it's a really good finish.
16:00And you know him, Stephen, he's capable of that, isn't he?
16:02Yeah, he's made big strides to UCL Ousania at St Mirren.
16:06Last season he had a really good season,
16:08but this is the bit he needs to add to his game,
16:10that composure, because he gets into these positions all the time.
16:12And it's that bit, to go again, the next level,
16:16showing that composure, I think it's a brilliant finish.
16:18Yeah, it was a good finish.
16:19Up front for Dundee today, Simon Murray and Curtis Main,
16:22he caused a lot of problems, there are a handful.
16:24Yeah, the St Mirren back line worked hard all day,
16:28they're just constant.
16:29Obviously Simon Murray's coming short to link the play,
16:32but he's going again, he's just constantly on the move.
16:34And you see in the picture there, Curtis Main,
16:37he's a powerhouse, but he's got nice touches,
16:39and Simon Murray's just playing off and around him.
16:41Some of Simon Murray's best work.
16:42It's good because Main offers a focal point,
16:44but this is normally the opposite.
16:46They normally get Simon Murray running and Main bumping,
16:49but it's Murray that just leans into Gogic here.
16:51I have to say Richard Taylor will close his eyes when he sees this.
16:53Don't you think Deccanio's a bit of a...
16:55Well, you said that, not me, but I think it's a really good finish.
16:59But watch this again, it's a highlight.
17:01High behind here, look at the bump,
17:03look how clever Simon Murray is.
17:05He was a handful all day, just bumped Gogic,
17:07you're not winning that header.
17:08But Taylor's his favourite, she's still doing better today.
17:11See that finish there, Stevie?
17:12He's jumping into the air, but he slows himself down,
17:15it's a really cute finish.
17:16Again, it's a similar move, Murray's bumping,
17:18Main's round on the overlap,
17:20and it's well wide, well high.
17:24Those two would give any defence that.
17:26Look at Simon Murray.
17:27I don't know how you play against this guy,
17:29he must annoy the life out of you.
17:31He's so effective, that's a super stop.
17:33I just wonder whether he could have opened his foot
17:35and slid it down the side.
17:36But again, real handful, Steven, isn't it, that pairing?
17:39Yeah, and again, Curtis Main, he's just pinned Icovetti there,
17:43and he's probably disappointed he's not scored.
17:46You just see he's constantly on the move.
17:48Simon Murray, the chances just come
17:50because he's just constantly moving inside that box.
17:53I think this is the one he's disappointed about,
17:56in terms of, go across, go back across.
17:59You're trying to squeeze that in at a really tight angle,
18:01go across, maybe Balcombe parries it out
18:04and your mate can get the tap in.
18:06As Alistair Lambert said during commentary,
18:08there were a lot of good goals today, all the goals were good,
18:10but Mika, Mwandro, and probably the pick of the bunch,
18:13it was a lovely finish on his left foot.
18:15Kenny McIntyre on radio said the goalkeeper should have done better,
18:18I'm not having that!
18:19That's what he's on radio and not here, isn't it?
18:21Aye, that's true.
18:22Well, Tony Dock will be disappointed with Larkesh,
18:25he gets it stuck in his body and he just slaps at it,
18:28you just can't do that at this level of football,
18:30and Mika Mwandro just puts the instant shot,
18:33it's almost like no back-lifting.
18:35It's one of the ones where you've not got time to think about it,
18:38I used to love those, because when you've got time you can put yourself off,
18:41he just sets himself and lashes it in, it's brilliant.
18:43And he's had a bit of a stop-start season so far,
18:45Iunga's been in, he's been in and out,
18:47he was the main man last year,
18:49so to do that, as you say, you're not really thinking about it,
18:52and brilliant view of the St Mern fans they've got from behind that goal.
18:55Yeah, but St Mern weren't to hang on to that lead,
18:58it was Larkesh finished after a lovely move,
19:01actually a lovely wee reverse pass from Lyle Cameron.
19:05Yeah, well, they've lost Luke McEwan,
19:07and that is a huge hole in their midfield and creativity,
19:10but Cameron is well capable of stepping into those big boots,
19:14it's Simon Murray who's got the captain's armband,
19:16but Larkesh's position is really alien,
19:18for a left-back, left-wing back,
19:20he finds himself in an advanced position,
19:22sometimes he would just retreat,
19:24but he takes a wee gamble, continues his run,
19:26and I just want you to look on the next replay
19:29of the little hint from Lyle Cameron's pass,
19:32as he takes it inside,
19:34Goggy steps out there, you might want him to stay in his slot, Stephen.
19:37I just think he senses danger,
19:39it's a 4v2,
19:41I think if you're coming out,
19:43if you make that decision to come out,
19:44you've got to shut off the angle,
19:45you've got to almost just,
19:47you're saying to Lyle Cameron,
19:48just go and have the shot,
19:49because I'm leaving my man to come to you,
19:51you end up accelerating the attack,
19:53and he's slid his man in.
19:55The thing is, when he's coming out to engage,
19:57he's all in, but if you watch that one back,
19:59if you get the chance to,
20:00watch Lyle Cameron's just a little shift,
20:02and it's not even a yard,
20:03and what it does, it opens Goggy for a shot,
20:06and he can't stay in his slot then,
20:07and then he's got the awareness just to slide it in.
20:09I think on reflection,
20:11looking at this whole game today,
20:12you look at how tight the stats were,
20:14there was only one in between.
20:15A draw is definitely a fair result.
20:17100%, and it keeps Dundee's unbeaten run going.
20:19It does, they've been brilliant.
20:21You mentioned Luke McEwan,
20:23Stephen, how big a miss is he going to be,
20:25because he was such an influential player for Dundee,
20:27a player of real quality,
20:29brilliant for him getting his move to Celtic, obviously,
20:31but for Dundee, just how big a miss is that going to be?
20:33Huge, everything goes through him,
20:36it was almost like a package that came,
20:38Lyle Cameron and Luke McEwan,
20:40so refreshing, in the modern day,
20:42you have the image of these midfielders,
20:44and they're all six foot two and athletic,
20:46you've got these two wee guys that are just brilliant footballers,
20:49and I loved watching Luke McEwan,
20:52every time he got the ball, he was looking to probe,
20:54he was looking to drive with the ball,
20:56and he's moved to Celtic,
20:58it made you think of Paul Hartley, obviously,
21:00the winger turned centre midfielder,
21:01I remember playing against Luke McEwan,
21:03he was just a total outside left,
21:05and I think going into the centre of the park
21:07has totally taken his game to the next level.
21:09It has done.
21:10OK, to MacDermid Park now,
21:12as St Johnstone take on Stuart Kettlewell's Motherwell,
21:14the Steelmen looking for back-to-back wins
21:16after their brilliant performance last weekend.
21:20MacDermid Park bathed in late summer sunshine
21:23as St Johnstone welcomed in-form Motherwell to Perth.
21:26Hungry and looking for a reaction to defeat at Dundee United,
21:29the Steelmen, though, on the hunt for a hat-trick of wins
21:32in all competitions.
21:36Greg Levine tweaks the St Johnstone line-up
21:38after that painful loss at Tannadise,
21:40Gokie for Ross Sinclair makes his injury comeback
21:42after a year out,
21:43Clarke is in for this event at Sidibe,
21:45and McPherson replaces Carey.
21:47Motherwell unchanged after putting hearts to the sword,
21:49Jack Vale earns a spot on the bench
21:51after returning to the club on loan
21:53on deadline day last night.
21:56McGinn and O'Donnell,
21:58two players enjoying
22:00fine late career runs of form
22:02as McGinn takes a tumble
22:04at the challenge of Aaron Essel.
22:07St Johnstone play it away,
22:10O'Donnell recovering well to close down Nielsen.
22:14Raymond.
22:16O'Donnell gets another challenge in.
22:19And Motherwell will win the throw.
22:23Alan Mulvaney, the video system referee,
22:25is just having a word in the ear of referee Ian Sneddon.
22:29For this challenge, Essel on McGinn,
22:31was it inside the box?
22:33Ian Sneddon is going to take a closer look at things.
22:37He's heading for the monitor.
22:43McGinn.
22:44He's heading for the monitor.
22:54It does appear to be contact.
22:56The left leg and ankle of Paul McGinn
22:58from Essel.
23:01Was the foul inside the box?
23:04And was the contact
23:06grave enough
23:08to constitute a foul?
23:10Here's the verdict.
23:11Play on.
23:14A swift wave of the right hand from Ian Sneddon.
23:17No penalty for this.
23:22O'Donnell again rampaging down that right flank.
23:25And Raymond Nielsen
23:27at the expense of a corner.
23:30It's a goal scorer against Hearts last weekend,
23:32Stephen O'Donnell.
23:33Really is playing some
23:35terrific stuff early in this campaign.
23:40The Steelmen
23:42load up the St Johnston box.
23:46And it comes from Halliday.
23:48Casey's there.
23:49Sinclair flaps and it's looped in.
23:54Tentative from Sinclair.
23:56Tenacious
23:58from the Motherwell stopper.
24:02He hasn't played in more than a year, Ross Sinclair.
24:05Brought in after some errors from
24:07Josh Rae between the sticks.
24:10But he's not covered himself in glory
24:12in just the 11th minute
24:14of his comeback match.
24:15Casey scores
24:17and Motherwell
24:18take the lead in Perth.
24:30Again, Motherwell's
24:31defensive organisation, that
24:33back three
24:35proving potent.
24:36Play now spread for
24:38Maswanise.
24:39One-on-one with Nielsen.
24:40It's Maswanise.
24:43And it fizzes just across the face.
24:47He's brought a real
24:48innovative spark
24:50to Stuart Kettlewell's attack this season.
24:52To Landa Maswanise,
24:54that's what he can do.
24:58Greg Levine's
24:5938th time in the dugout
25:01against Motherwell.
25:02He's won 15 of those encounters.
25:04His team are behind early doors
25:06as Kempioka
25:08gets on the end of that one.
25:11Taking on O'Donnell.
25:13And for Essel,
25:14it's loose, it's untidy,
25:15it's Kempioka!
25:16And it's a fine stop
25:17from Oxburgh.
25:19And Gordon will bring it clear
25:20for Motherwell.
25:24Suspicion of a foul in the build-up
25:25here from Aaron Essel.
25:27As the ball was pinged into him
25:28by Kempioka.
25:30Stepping across Gordon.
25:32And Oxburgh didn't know that.
25:34And he stood firm.
25:36To deny the striker.
25:39O'Donnell looking for
25:41Maswanise once more.
25:43One-on-one with Big Lewis Nielsen.
25:46What's he got on his boxing tricks this time?
25:48Bamboozles Nielsen.
25:50Burrows into the box.
25:51But Nielsen with those
25:52telescopic limbs.
25:54Grapples the ball back under control.
25:57Stills and Johnston
25:58toiling to
26:00find fluency from middle to front.
26:02And Maswanise
26:03tees up Halliday!
26:05Wow!
26:07Oh, it's not going to count.
26:10The flag raised
26:11against Maswanise.
26:13And Andy Halliday
26:15denied a peach.
26:17You can see Maswanise
26:18just offside.
26:19He doesn't need to be.
26:21But that's what Andy Halliday does
26:22still with that
26:23wand of a left foot.
26:28Miller the teenager.
26:30Man of the match against
26:31Harkes on Sunday.
26:34Maswanise cutting inside.
26:36And St Johnston
26:37scramble clear.
26:40Miller's influence
26:41growing early in the second half.
26:43It's a beautiful ball too for
26:44Halliday.
26:45Keeps it in.
26:46But it's comfortable for Sinclair.
26:50Young Lennon Miller
26:51making his presence felt
26:53as Motherwell looked to double up.
26:55Smith.
26:57Through to Kirk.
26:58One of the three subs
26:59Craig Levine has just introduced.
27:01And that is devilish
27:02footwork from Kirk.
27:04Kempioka's ahead of him.
27:05It's Benjamin Kempioka!
27:07It's 1-1!
27:09And where, oh where
27:10did that come from?
27:13St Johnston
27:14flatlining.
27:16No sign of a
27:17foul.
27:19It's a foul.
27:21It's a foul.
27:22Flatlining.
27:23No sign of an
27:24attacking pulse.
27:26But Benjamin Kempioka
27:28drags them level.
27:30And breathes new life
27:31into this match.
27:33What an impact
27:34from young Mackenzie Kirk.
27:35Seconds after
27:37being emptied from the bench
27:38in a triple sub.
27:40He beats one.
27:41Draws two more.
27:43And Kempioka
27:44with enough power
27:45to beat Oxford up.
27:48Jason Holtz.
27:50First appearance
27:51just into the club but
27:53cuffed up by Carey.
27:55And Motherwell
27:56looked to pounce.
27:57Miller.
27:59No foul given.
28:00And will be for that.
28:02Tony Watt cleaned out
28:03by Sanders.
28:05He'll have his name taken
28:06by referee Sneddon.
28:09It's good direct play
28:10again from Miller.
28:11And that is a pretty clear
28:12cut caution.
28:15It's a dangerous ball in.
28:17And Sinclair
28:19had to look lively.
28:20Maxi lurking at the back post.
28:22Always a menace
28:23from set plays.
28:25Stuart Kettlewell
28:26and assistant Stevie Frail
28:27announcing new
28:28ruling contracts to
28:30remain at the helm
28:31of this Motherwell ship.
28:33She's motoring along
28:34very nicely so far.
28:35Tony Watt is
28:36in there.
28:37Sinclair appended.
28:38Ball in the net but
28:40that will surely be given
28:41as a foul
28:42on the St. Johnston goalkeeper.
28:46Tony Watt's got plenty
28:47to say about it.
28:48Let's have another look.
28:50It's a big abrasive specimen
28:51Tony Watt.
28:53But his trailing leg
28:54catches Sinclair
28:55who can't hold on to the ball.
28:59And VAR won't be
29:01sending in Sneddon to
29:03have a look at overturning
29:04this one.
29:07Wright's
29:08lace ball down the channel
29:10finds the ever willing
29:11ever energetic
29:12Kim Pioka
29:14footwork
29:15pace.
29:16He's taking the scenic route.
29:18Finds Kirk
29:20works the space
29:21and shoots.
29:23But it's straightforward
29:24enough for Oxburgh.
29:26So much better
29:27from St. Johnston.
29:29Kim Pioka
29:30always lively.
29:31Kirk's added a real
29:32creative influence.
29:40Sandler's tangling again
29:41with Tony Watt.
29:43And that's going to fall
29:44neatly for Sparrow.
29:47And the shot coming in
29:48from a tight angle
29:49to Zabieh.
29:52And Sinclair down
29:53quickly.
29:56Nigerian off the bench
29:57sprung free
29:58down the right.
29:59The heavies assembled
30:00in the St. Johnston box
30:01again.
30:02And Casey
30:04forces another
30:05Sinclair stop.
30:07Palming that one over the top.
30:09It's another corner.
30:10It's another Casey header
30:11and it's a wonder
30:12save from Sinclair.
30:16And if the fit again
30:17goalkeeper
30:18was shaky in the first half
30:19he has been so sure-footed
30:21in the second.
30:23Stuart Kettlewell
30:25urging his men forward.
30:27Is there to be
30:28one last opportunity?
30:31Sinclair with another
30:32confident intervention.
30:34Sparrow and Raymond
30:35tussling for possession.
30:38In it goes again.
30:40Still St. Johnston
30:41can't win a second ball.
30:42Can't clear it.
30:43And Sinclair
30:45wasn't sure where that was heading.
30:49A wild-eyed look of
30:50exasperation
30:52as he peered into the sunshine
30:53and saw this missile dropping.
30:5794 minutes played.
30:59Miller delivers.
31:01Casey knocks it across
31:02and it's bundled home!
31:07Moses of B.A.
31:08wins it for Motherwell.
31:11And it is
31:12Claritin Amber
31:13euphoria
31:14in the away end.
31:16The Nigerian
31:18from Nigeria
31:19to North Lanarkshire
31:21lurking under the crossbar
31:23and coming up
31:24with a flopper.
31:28St. Johnston
31:29will be desolate.
31:33Set-piece defending
31:34looks to have
31:35undone the Saints again
31:36and Sanders
31:38has bashed Tony Watt
31:39off the ball.
31:41And Ian Sneddon
31:42has been called over
31:43by his assistant.
31:46Tony Watt nursing
31:47some tender ribs
31:48and the second yellow
31:49is out for Sanders.
31:51It's a disastrous
31:52end to this game
31:53for St. Johnston.
31:55A point seemingly
31:56snatched from their grasp
31:58and this bruising
31:59body blow on Watt
32:00depriving them
32:01of their full compliments.
32:03There is the
32:04full-time whistle
32:07greeted by raucous
32:08howls beneath us
32:09in the Motherwell end.
32:11Craig Levine
32:12wears a stony look
32:14but the Motherwell momentum
32:15the Motherwell hype train
32:17keeps on
32:18toughing.
32:19Three wins on the spin
32:21as they head into
32:22the international break
32:23for the 2-1 victory.
32:26We've been working
32:27very hard on trying to
32:28do better with the ball
32:29create more chances
32:30and that side of things
32:31was good today.
32:32But our
32:34I was going to say
32:35our defending
32:36that's not
32:37accurate.
32:3990% of our defending
32:40was good
32:41our defending
32:42set pieces
32:43was woeful.
32:45And that's
32:46what you saw
32:47the result
32:48was that we didn't
32:49get anything from the match.
32:50What a way to
32:51win a game of football
32:53the emotions you can see
32:54them pouring out
32:55from ourselves
32:56the players
32:57and the supporters
32:58the brilliant following here.
32:59And we're obviously
33:00we've been in a decent place
33:01and to win a game of football
33:02like that
33:03just sort of caps it off.
33:05It wasn't plain sailing
33:06that's for sure.
33:07I stand here
33:08as honest as I possibly can
33:09thought we could have been
33:10far far better
33:11in the first half
33:12even though we'd won a goal ahead.
33:13And I thought we actually
33:14played much better
33:15in the second half
33:16and I felt that
33:17St Johnson scored
33:18against the run of play
33:19and then from there
33:20it was a bit of a lottery
33:21to be honest with you.
33:22I think both teams
33:23had an appetite
33:24to try and win the game
33:25and I'm so pleased
33:26for my team and my club
33:27that we came out
33:28on the right side of it.
33:29Slightly controversial
33:30end to the game
33:31which we will get to shortly
33:32but another win for
33:33Motherwell
33:34moving them up to
33:35fourth place
33:36and Dan Casey
33:37he caused absolute havoc
33:38all day from set plays.
33:39He had a real battle
33:40with Nielsen
33:41and almost won
33:42the battle
33:43outright.
33:44From early on
33:45he obviously gets his goal
33:46and I don't know
33:47if he got in Nielsen's head
33:48in terms of
33:49how aggressive he was
33:50because
33:51he just
33:52he couldn't deal with him
33:53all afternoon.
33:54He actually
33:55I was thinking about it
33:56he'd won that many headers
33:57from all these set pieces.
33:58I don't think
33:59Ross Sinclair covers
34:00himself in goal
34:01No.
34:02The goalkeeper.
34:03Can you switch the markers?
34:04Yeah.
34:05Because he was just
34:06winning every time
34:07and the more obsessed
34:08Nielsen got
34:09the better
34:10Casey was getting.
34:11He was just giving him
34:12the run all the time
34:13and very unlucky
34:14not to score there
34:15but it was actually
34:16a brilliant save
34:17but he does so well
34:18for the winner
34:19just into a good area.
34:20Do you think it might
34:21go in?
34:22I think it was
34:23over the line.
34:24Will you watch the reaction
34:25of half
34:26What, you're giving
34:27Casey the goal here?
34:28Well, yeah
34:29I think it might be
34:30over the line.
34:31Half the players
34:32run towards Casey
34:33two or three run
34:34towards the goal scorer
34:35here and actually
34:36You may be right actually
34:37that's not a bad spot
34:38You're welcome
34:39The winning goal
34:40it came on 94 minutes
34:41and we spotted
34:42what we think
34:43was a mistake
34:44from the officials.
34:45Well, Ross Sinclair
34:46is claiming he doesn't
34:47get a touch
34:48and I have to say
34:49after watching it
34:50and we thought
34:51at the time
34:52you called it
34:53actually upstairs
34:54so well done you
34:55Thanks Neil
34:56I really appreciate that
34:57really, really nice
34:58Watch this
34:59it hits the crossbar
35:00It doesn't touch
35:01the glove
35:02It doesn't touch it
35:03and then the corner's given
35:04It's a great ball
35:05He only has a slight
35:06kind of protest here
35:07The referee gives a corner
35:08and he knows
35:09that wasn't a corner
35:10and he finds a foul
35:11in the box
35:12Aye
35:13I'm surprised actually
35:14Craig Levine didn't
35:15pick up on it
35:16Maybe he will
35:17in time to come
35:18Kimpioka scored
35:19Neil, but you were
35:20impressed with his
35:21all-round performance today
35:22Yeah, I think he's a
35:23real threat for St John's
35:24then
35:25Nicky Clark partnered
35:26him today
35:27but he was a main threat
35:28all the time
35:29He's so quick
35:30He's actually got
35:31really, really good feet
35:32and he's prepared
35:33to go and take
35:34people on
35:35make things happen
35:36This might have been
35:37pulled back for a foul
35:38in the box
35:39but I would have fancied
35:40him to finish that
35:41That's probably
35:42like Stephen's
35:43talking about
35:44Olasanya
35:45Maybe the finishing touch
35:46just evades him
35:47at times
35:48but he's such a threat
35:49Him and big Liam Gordon
35:50had some battle today
35:51both physically
35:52and having to mark
35:53channels
35:54You can see Liam Gordon
35:55just deepening there
35:56to protect the pace
35:57of Kimpioka
35:58I have to say
35:59this young man
36:00came on to the game
36:01and really lit it up
36:02McKenzie cut
36:03Yeah, really did
36:04It was a different dynamic
36:05at this point
36:06made three subs
36:07Holt coming on
36:08and another one
36:09Liam Carey
36:10and young Kirk
36:11finds a great pass
36:12and that's a good finish
36:13Maybe the goalkeeper
36:14might fancy
36:15saving that
36:16in reflection
36:17but he's definitely
36:18a player that they're
36:19going to have to rely on
36:20Sidibe's now missing
36:21for four games
36:22with his silly red card
36:23They've lost Sanders today
36:24another point of
36:25real world discipline
36:26as well
36:27I have to have
36:28sympathy for him as well
36:29I think it's just
36:30a natural block
36:31but if you're going
36:32to score goals
36:33you're going to be a threat
36:34He's got the pace
36:35on a counter-attack
36:36He's certainly got that
36:37Kimpioka
36:38Stephen, you watched
36:39the game today
36:40You felt as though
36:41St Johnstone
36:42out of possession
36:43could have done better
36:44Yeah, I don't think
36:45they were very good
36:46on the ball at times
36:47I thought they were
36:48very passive
36:49but this, off the ball
36:50I mean, no matter
36:51what system you play
36:52anything
36:53a home game
36:54against Motherwell
36:55a game you should
36:56be looking to win
36:57this isn't acceptable
36:58A player like
36:59Lennon Miller
37:00you're allowing him
37:01to get his head up
37:02and just pick passes up
37:03that way
37:04without any pressure
37:05nobody engages with him
37:06he's allowed to
37:07turn with the ball
37:08get it under control
37:09turn with the ball
37:10get his head up again
37:11and then a player
37:12as talented as him
37:13he's going to find passes
37:14and he's going to
37:15create chances
37:16and when you're
37:17watching the game
37:18you can't help but think
37:19they're missing leadership
37:20they're missing
37:21you're looking at
37:22Liam Gordon
37:23up the other end
37:24I know from playing
37:25against St Johnstone
37:26from hearing him
37:27in the stadiums
37:28how much he organises
37:29on the pitch
37:30there's only so much
37:31a manager can do
37:32to be organised
37:33and keep on top of
37:34they've got a lot of
37:35young players
37:36keep on top of them
37:37because I don't think
37:38these things happen
37:39look the whole
37:40St Johnstone team
37:41in one area of the park
37:42there's structures
37:43all over the place
37:44there's nobody
37:45barking out orders
37:46or moving hands about
37:47to say that can't happen
37:48it was a theme
37:49throughout the day
37:50and Motherwell
37:51could have picked them off
37:52if they were more
37:53clinical in the final third
37:54they could have
37:55picked them off at ease
37:56A new contract
37:57for Stuart Kettlewell
37:58and he deserves it
37:59he had that sticky spell
38:00last season
38:01but Motherwell
38:02stood by him
38:03and it's been
38:04a really positive start
38:05to this season
38:06Absolutely
38:07and it's so pleasing
38:08when you see
38:09a board with
38:10a wee bit of strength
38:11and conviction
38:12to their appointment
38:13to stay with someone
38:14like Stuart
38:15talks great
38:16sees the game well
38:17have to reinvent his side
38:18because losing Spittle
38:19as we've spoken about
38:20last week
38:21and Theo Bair
38:22he's had to go again
38:23you saw how much
38:24it meant to him
38:25at the end of the game
38:26they are celebrating
38:27Stevie Frail
38:28rest of the coaching team
38:29it's a brilliant
38:31and St Johnstone
38:32not being the best
38:33of starts for them
38:34but we're moving on
38:35anyway so you don't
38:36need to answer that question
