00:00But I have to say, Susanne Abir, this is what she does.
00:03If you saw The Undoing, if you saw The Night Manager,
00:05this is what she does.
00:07And so when she said, I'm gonna do this,
00:10I was like, right, let's go.
00:11Because when you put her at the helm of something like this,
00:14she can take you on these twists and turns and these rides.
00:17And there's something about, she's slightly wicked as well.
00:22So she's always pushing you, which is great.
00:25And she has, even though she's Danish,
00:28she has this sense of humor that you get.
00:32I think it's a European sense of humor
00:34that she imbues into the series.
00:36So it's kind of this, it's an unusual mix,
00:40but it works, hopefully.
00:44And she creates, wanna see TV, hopefully.
00:53Which I was like, I don't know any of these steps,
00:56so I'm just gonna dance this Greer.
00:59So I picked it off as we went along, kind of thing.
01:03And for the whole thing, I was like,
01:05okay, this is the Greer dance.
01:09We've gotta go to the line.
01:10I gotta go to the line.
01:12Thank you so much for your time.
01:12Yes, you didn't ask any questions.
01:14No, I was too nervous.
01:15Now here I am.
01:16Oh, you weren't.
01:17Can I ask, please, this is a wonderful show,
01:21and it's one where we see something horrific happen
01:23in somewhere so beautiful.
01:25What do you think it is about that kind of genre
01:26which attracts us as viewers?
01:29I think it kind of, it sucks you in.
01:33It's smoke and mirrors, in a way.
01:35So you get given the idea that it's paradise,
01:38and then that gets pulled out from under you.
01:43And I think when you start,
01:48there is an unease to the thing.
01:49There's a disturbance.
01:51There's this underlying disturbance
01:53from the minute you start watching.
01:56So you're waiting.
01:58But that's what Susanna Beare, the director,
02:00does so well, is she creates all the beauty,
02:03and then she pulls the rug out from under you,
02:06and continues to do so.
02:09And it's really hard to do as a director.
02:11We love a murder mystery as viewers,
02:12but have you been to a murder mystery party,
02:15and do you enjoy them?
02:16I have.
02:17Those, huh?
02:19Years ago.
02:20I actually catered one.
02:22Can you believe?
02:23Yeah.
02:25I didn't, I was, my parents threw one,
02:29and they were, and so I said, I'll do the cooking.
02:32I catered.
02:33I'm a terrible cook.
02:36But I did my best, and thank God there was a game going on,
02:40so it wasn't about the food.
02:41Distracted from the food.
02:42Yeah, yeah, yeah.
