The cost of fish and chips has risen around 50% in 5 years - what is the most you would pay for a fish supper?
Transcript
00:00I'd like it to be less than £10 for fish and chips together, ideally kind of like £7, £7 to about, yeah.
00:06But I try not to get too big, the portions are too big, so I like to get a smaller portion
00:11generally these days and that's a bit cheaper and healthier.
00:14Near where I live we've got like a local fish and chips shop, which is like £5.55 for like a big fish and chips.
00:21So for like, I think the most I'd pay would probably be like, from like a basic place, like £8 or £9.
00:28I have noticed the price has gone through the roof, it's probably as a result of the European Union's
00:36fishing policy, which we effectively capitulated when we came out of the EU, comes up for renewal
00:42in 18 months. We should take our own fishing waters back and that would almost certainly see
00:48a significant reduction in the price of fish.
00:51How much would you pay for fish and chips?
00:53£100 million.
00:55£100 million because you love fish and chips, don't you?
