00:00Gav, 3-1 against Binfield in the League Cup, thoughts on tonight?
00:05We're disappointed from showing a week of, although results haven't reflected the progress we've felt we've made.
00:13I thought, especially starting at Rains Park, which we lost 5-1, but there were some positive signs within that game to go,
00:20do you know what, we look like we're grasping what we want to do.
00:24We were competitive for 65 minutes and then two quick goals cost us that game.
00:30Haundeen game, again, they weren't way better than us. It was a battle, a bit scrappy,
00:37and probably, if we'd got a point, couldn't have argued, do you know what I mean?
00:42And then Saturday was good against a side that maybe they took us for granted, which can be the case,
00:49and we'll be kicking ourselves, because watching it back, obviously I wasn't here, but watching it back,
00:54I'm like, how have we not taken advantage of them not being at it, having the opportunity to score goals,
01:02and we come away losing again and following that on Twitter.
01:05I was like, right, we're having loads of chances here, in a minute they're probably going to go up the other end of the score,
01:09and they did, and that game, there were positives from it because we played well,
01:15and probably deserved at least a replay, I would say, based on what I saw watching it back.
01:21And then we come into tonight, which you're thinking, same as they probably did, another side who haven't started particularly well like us,
01:27looking at this game as a, this could kickstart our season, we need to get a win, and they were hungrier than us.
01:33They were the better team. We didn't show any, we've got to give them credit because they stopped us doing what we wanted to do,
01:40but we were disappointed with our own performance, didn't think it was good enough.
01:45It was good at the end, when the game had gone, they made changes, were probably a little bit tired.
01:49Some people come on for us and did well. We got a goal back, which we probably deserved in the end,
01:55but ultimately, we didn't do enough to warrant winning the game.
02:00I said, performances, well, they're against Hornedean and Cray Valley, so I guess, obviously tonight,
02:05you've kind of had to let them know that maybe, obviously, fell below that, obviously, a bit.
02:10Yeah, it's tough, mate, because you, we want to win games of football, ultimately, and we're not doing it,
02:17and you can only be positive about performances for so long before you go, right, what, you know, you've got to start winning.
02:25You've got to start taking advantage of opportunities to win games of football and do it,
02:29and at the minute, we've got to go into Saturday and try and raise everyone's confidence,
02:36because they are good players. They've shown, like I say, in the last week or so, they've shown some good glimpses,
02:42but it's not enough to win games, and we've conceded way too many goals, and they're not even good goals, to be honest.
02:47I mean, we've, Babs has, listen, mistakes happen. We did exactly the same last year, I can count.
02:53Three or four players did exactly the same last year. I bet it cost you the game.
02:58You know, we passed it straight to the centre-forward, he'd run through and he ain't going to miss.
03:02We've given up a cheat-free kick away, and I know that, you know, they've still got to do what they've got to do,
03:08but those things at the minute seem to be costing us all the time, like Saturday with a cheat-free kick,
03:14deflected off the wall, turned its back. You know, they need to learn quickly and stop doing the things that might give people goals,
03:22because they didn't really have to work hard for the goals they got, if I'm honest.
03:28Yeah, I mean, the first goal's always cliché. The key goal in football, isn't it? Pass straight to him.
03:34Of course it is, and we're not getting that. I mean, to be saying that, we're not getting that.
03:37We did, the guy at Hornedean passed it to Hove, Hove done well, but he read it well.
03:41That was literally a pass straight to the centre-forward, who was in on goal.
03:47And it's nothing to do with how we're trying to play. It's just a poor decision, and just switching off a little bit.
03:55Training on Thursday? Should we try and build them up?
04:00Always training on Thursdays, mate. We've got to keep going, keep working on what we want to do, try and keep morale up, and look forward to Saturday.
04:10And talking of Saturday, Broadbridge Heath, no much about them?
04:14Not really. We played them last year, didn't we, in a friendly, which we got beaten.
04:20And I think Bino's going to watch them tonight against Falversham, so no doubt he'll give us some sort of report.
04:26But to be honest, it's more about, I want to see us. I don't really care about what the other team...
04:33Because this level of football, a team can be really good one week, and then you'll play them, and they're not the same as us.
04:40Every team has off days, they could be really, really good tonight, and then be poor on Saturday.
04:45So it's more about what do they play, have they got a long throw, all that sort of stuff.
04:51Anything we need to look out for. But I'm more concerned about how we play, and people trying to improve and learn.
04:59So the key focus going into that is your own performance?
05:03Yeah, it's always got to be, I think. Because if we're just turning up and we're not doing what we want, and we're winning games,
05:10of course you'd be happy, but there's got to be some sort of identity. That's how we do it anyway.
05:17We want an identity, and then hopefully the results will come from that.
05:20And we keep saying we're one... I thought it would be tonight, but you can never...
05:26They didn't underestimate them, but I think they would have thought the same tonight,
05:30and they'd be really pleased with the performance their team put in, and the fact they grafted,
05:34and did all the hard stuff, their game plan worked, and stopped us doing what we wanted to do.
05:39Got the goal at the end through Lamin, something to hold on to.
05:43Yeah, I felt we probably should have... Listen, they didn't even have a goalie in tonight,
05:48didn't even tell the boys that. The goalie was a centre midfielder, and we didn't work him.
05:52He had a couple of shots at the end to make. But then I don't think they worked Harry particularly.
05:59So, yeah.
06:01The FA Trophy, a different competition, something a bit different to attack?
06:05Yeah, last year was our first year, and we got through the first round.
06:11I can't remember who beat us last year.
06:13You beat Sutton Common, and it was a penalty game.
06:16Yeah, we lost in a game we should have... Another one on the day where I was like,
06:20we should win this, we've got a real opportunity to get through, and we lost on penalties.
06:25And they ended up having a good run when I didn't think they were...
06:28On the day, especially against us, they didn't deserve to go through, and we got knocked out.
06:32So, yeah, we want to at least get through a couple of rounds, but it'll be difficult Saturday.
