00:00Yeah, you got rid of him correctly. Your claim is dismissed and yours is granted.
00:04Have a good day.
00:05Welcome to Miz Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the Judge Mathis cases
00:12that went completely off the rails.
00:14Sir, I did not.
00:15Yeah, they gonna be carrying you.
00:16He was choking me, Romeo.
00:18Sir, I'm looking at.
00:18Sir, I picked her up.
00:19Shut up!
00:22Number 10. Ma'am, you should go to jail.
00:25Defendant De'Avion Brown alleges plaintiff Jamelia Pierce started their online feud by
00:30posting pictures of her on social media without her permission.
00:35Ma'am, you should go to jail.
00:37Me?
00:38You should go to jail.
00:39Jail for which one?
00:40As soon as he sees the evidence, Judge Mathis nearly falls out of his chair and jokes that
00:45Pierce should be in jail for broadcasting Brown's embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.
00:51At least that's what we can infer it is.
00:53I'm not going to even let you walk out.
00:55I'm not even going to put a straight jacket on you to make sure you don't do nothing like
01:01this.
01:01This is horrible.
01:02The pictures are so revealing that they can't even be shown on camera without being blurred.
01:08While the two former friends keep going back and forth,
01:11Mathis can barely keep it together to finish out the case.
01:15Number one, was this in public?
01:18Were you in public like this?
01:19Number nine. Telling it like it is.
01:22Judge Mathis is all for people turning their lives around.
01:25But when he feels someone is lying about recovery or sobriety, it really grates on his nerves.
01:32In this case, he pointedly accuses the plaintiff, Lolita Trish,
01:36of engaging in certain illicit substances, despite her contention that she's been sober for years.
01:42The way they have treated me and everything I have tried to do for them.
01:45Unappreciative kids.
01:46You're acting like a kid though.
01:48Getting on Facebook Live, talking crazy like that. That's what kids do.
01:53The behavior she displays in video footage tells the judge otherwise.
01:57Her tone with him as she details all her children's
01:59wrongs buries her credibility with him even more.
02:03Yes, you are. You need rehab.
02:05I'm sorry you kids had to go through this.
02:08What is she suing you for?
02:09Okay.
02:10Yeah, okay. I don't want to talk to you anymore.
02:12Sometimes even Judge Mathis' candor is shocking.
02:16But when he feels a litigant doesn't respect the court, he can be downright hostile.
02:21Clearly, she is capable of having someone come and shoot up the car, as I have observed.
02:28And her only defense is, I wasn't there. Have a good day.
02:33By the end, the plaintiff looks sorry she came.
02:36Number eight, a visual aid.
02:39Kiki Patrick admits she had reservations about dating a man who was over a decade younger than
02:44her. However, defendant Kimari Williams says he broke up with her when he found out she
02:50was sending suggestive videos to his friends. Judge Mathis eggs him on.
02:55And maybe if she was honest...
02:56You sent it to your friends and didn't think your friends would say anything to you?
03:00I said the same thing. But if I was to do something like that to her friends...
03:03I don't believe you.
03:04You don't believe me?
03:05No.
03:06Is there proof? Well, of course there is.
03:08Williams has the videos all queued up to play for the judge.
03:12We're about to see.
03:15Yeah, yeah, now it's... yeah, definitely.
03:18Kimari!
03:19Patrick is mortified, gasping in the courtroom as her ex talks
03:23the judge through the videos of her dancing erotically.
03:26She defends herself by saying she also sent those videos to her family.
03:31This does not exactly help her case.
03:34I think it's real sexy. She all juicy and chocky.
03:38Why are you sending it to your father then? And your brother?
03:41Because he's not looking at you.
03:42My daughter better not send me no hypersexual stuff.
03:45Number seven, next door nemesis.
03:48Plaintiff Elisa Estrada's petty comments, boasting
03:52and self-aggrandizing statements immediately put the judge off.
03:56He doesn't buy her accusations that her next door neighbours
03:59harassed her at the hospital where she works.
04:02I was on my break. She was coming around the corner when she saw me
04:06and she gave me a dirty look and I said, nice.
04:10Like, this is where I work.
04:11Considering they were there with their son who was hit by a car,
04:15the fact that Estrada seems convinced they were more concerned about her
04:19than their son doesn't wash with Judge Mathis.
04:22And this man is so emotional about it still that he's brought to tears
04:27and you think you were on their mind. You're much too self-important.
04:31I actually have.
04:31Nobody thought about you.
04:32He reads her down before dismissing her case.
04:36But even after the judge leaves, the drama continues.
04:39If they're willing to say all of this with an audience of millions,
04:43it makes you wonder what they say off camera.
04:46Baby's daddy.
04:47Yeah, that's what he is.
04:48Don't lie to the police department.
04:50I don't lie.
04:51That's all you do.
04:52Don't call him your mail-order husband or whatever he is.
04:56Number six, you're on speaker.
04:59A lawsuit over unpaid loans between two former lovers
05:02soon turns into a story of unrequited love
05:05and some deeply disturbing behaviour.
05:08Good friends with each other. Real good friends.
05:11Well, you are romantically attached.
05:14I was. Maybe not him.
05:15While plaintiff Mia Miner admits she may have caught more feelings
05:19for defendant Leondris Knighton III than he caught for her,
05:23she also admits she may have taken things too far.
05:27A bizarre recording of her making threats over speakerphone
05:31even had her jaw on the floor.
05:33Why are you being disrespectful, huh?
05:35Don't make me pop up.
05:37Pop up in what?
05:38F***ing ring.
05:39When did you get that?
05:40She has no idea there was a recording
05:42and it makes for a great moment of karmic payback.
05:46In a completely unsurprising ending, Miner loses her case.
05:50I'm going to grant your judgment, sir, for defamation,
05:53$2,000 because that does hurt his business reputation
05:58and you should not have done that.
06:00You lying, dirty dog. You know I didn't do that.
06:01Number 5. Be quiet.
06:04The judge is known for his good humor,
06:06but he's also known for his way of telling it like it is.
06:09When he's had enough of the lies and arrogance,
06:12Judge Mathis will just call a litigant whatever he wants.
06:16In this case, the plaintiff sues her ex-boyfriend
06:18for credit card charges he never paid back.
06:21My defense?
06:22Yeah, she's suing you for credit card charges.
06:25Ain't nothing funny.
06:26You're gonna have time to grin and smile when you go to prison.
06:30However, allegations of physical abuse soon emerge.
06:34By then, the judge is already tired of the defendant,
06:37who clearly isn't taking the case seriously.
06:39Sir, when we was dating, we was girlfriend and boyfriend,
06:42we had no agreement.
06:43She was basically my support system the whole time.
06:45We did not make it a...
06:46You sound like a scrub.
06:48But when footage of his abuse is played for the judge,
06:51he has no further patience for the man.
06:54As the defendant storms out of the courtroom,
06:56the applause from the audience was almost deafening.
07:00And get the hell out of my court.
07:02Your claim is dismissed and yours is granted.
07:07Number four, uncle and nephew.
07:09Judge Mathis has always been sensitive to young people turning to crime.
07:14Second chances, I got one.
07:16Went to law school, became a lawyer, and then a judge.
07:19Now I get to give second chances.
07:22Plaintiff Brandon Davis says he relocated from Oakland
07:26to stay with his uncle because he wanted to get away from bad influences
07:30and his parents had passed away.
07:32The situation didn't turn out well.
07:34His uncle immediately threw his weight around
07:36and seemed downright abusive for no reason.
07:39How many times I told you, the number one rule,
07:42no man is a bigger man than me in my house.
07:45Judge Mathis struggles to keep his cool throughout the case.
07:48I'm your nephew, man.
07:49I'm a man.
07:49You're not nothing to me.
07:50You're her nephew.
07:51I understand that now.
07:52I understand that now.
07:53He's literally brought to tears when the defendant tells his nephew
07:58their relationship means nothing to him.
08:01Years later, it remains one of the cases that affected the judge the most.
08:06If he wanted to go to community college, we'd send him.
08:09And he came back two years later with his associate's degree
08:12and is the minister of the youth division of his church.
08:17Number three, slurs caught on tape.
08:20Sisters Laura Borden and Rebecca Prohl come into court
08:24leveling allegations of substance use disorder,
08:26racism, and plain old sisterly jealousy.
08:30Clearly, years of resentment are coming out here.
08:33She didn't have one tear in her eye.
08:36Work at it, Lori.
08:37Ma'am, stop that.
08:38That doesn't mean she's not grieving.
08:41Throughout the case, Prohl doesn't come off too well.
08:44She antagonizes her sister like a child
08:46and earns Judge Mathis's irritation pretty early on.
08:50And I said, and I try to say it very calmly to her.
08:53And I said, and by the way, and I said,
08:56That's what you do, you say it calmly while you're swinging on her.
08:58She hit me first, Your Honor.
08:59Don't call my mother names.
09:01The worst part, though, is when Borden plays voicemails from her sister
09:05that are full of profanity and racial slurs.
09:08If she doesn't look terrible enough,
09:10when the judge tries to move past her racism to focus on the facts of the case,
09:15she says just a little too much.
09:18Nobody cares about this little name-calling no more.
09:21Who cares?
09:22I agree with you.
09:23What do you mean you agree?
09:27Number two, baby drama.
09:29This one is a seriously unhinged case about unpaid loans between exes
09:34and medical bills the plaintiff sustained
09:36when his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend stabbed him.
09:40But the defendant's list of offenses is just plain disturbing.
09:45She lied to her ex about a miscarriage only for the child to have survived.
09:50For you to stoop so low and say that a baby you all had together died
09:55and it wasn't true.
09:56The plaintiff finds out during the case that the surviving child is his.
10:01Oh my goodness, the child is yours.
10:06She even said that she didn't want the kid.
10:08Sir, you should seek custody for the child.
10:09That's what I'm gonna do.
10:10And that's not even the worst thing that the defendant's done.
10:14She made threats against the plaintiff's family
10:17and her current boyfriend violently attacked the plaintiff.
10:21So yeah, I did stab him.
10:22And if I had to do it again, I'd do it again.
10:23Gotcha.
10:24Judge Mathis calls her the worst liar he's ever had in his court.
10:29Even that seems like an understatement.
10:32I've never seen anything like this.
10:34You're the worst liar to ever come before me.
10:36And I've seen a lot of liars.

10:54Number 1.
10:55Assault with a delicious weapon.
10:57Otis Brister and his ex-friend Eldrick Steele
11:01bring one of the most out there and unforgettable cases ever featured on the show.
11:06Brister sued Steele for the cost of his TV, which he claims Steele broke.
11:12When he confronted the defendant,
11:13the plaintiff was instead met with a swinging bag of hot fried chicken.
11:18The boisterous litigants are entertaining from start to finish.
11:22I told him I don't want no chicken.
11:23I don't want no chicken.
11:25Why you gonna bring me some chicken?
11:27I want my $400.
11:28So he hit me with the chicken.
11:31Assault is no laughing matter.
11:33But given the litigants' behavior, the circumstances,
11:36and the amount of times the word chicken came up during this case, it's hard not to chuckle.
11:42I've never seen him turn down chicken.
11:45I told y'all I'm done with this chicken.
11:47I'm not gonna do this anymore.
11:49I'm not gonna let you embarrass yourselves, your family, your community, nor me.
11:54By the end, even the judge can't believe what he's hearing.
11:59Did you actually tell the doctors that happened?
12:02Yes, I did.
12:04Lord.
12:04You're right, I'm saying because when he hit me with the chicken,
12:07I had to go to the hospital because you know I don't got no neck.
12:10I only got head and shoulder.
12:11What's your favorite Judge Mathis moment from over the years?
12:14Tell us in the comments.
12:16So let me suggest to you, not only did you lose your job, you've lost your mind.
