00:00You have with us Raja Randhir Singh, a well-known athlete, administrator,
00:04face of Indian sport for many years, still doing many roles.
00:09So your thoughts on India's performance in the Paralympics, Paris, Valmail and Shattuck?
00:14I think India has done extremely well in the Paralympics
00:18and you see their performance in the last game and to this game
00:23and what's very good is, it's always good to see sportsmen winning again and again
00:29and repeating the performance at the stage
00:32and mind you, after four years, it's not easy to keep a form going
00:37and so we've seen this here as well.
00:40They've done extremely well and we hope they do better and better.
00:44Yoga in Asian Games and you have this fantastic Olympic Council of Asia session coming up.
00:51So your thoughts, sir?
00:54See, let me tell you, I'm very much for yoga
00:58and I feel we should have yoga.
01:02Till now we had one sport from Asia which is Kabaddi
01:06but yoga is a sport which is not restricted to Asia
01:11and it's international.
01:13I mean people all over the world are practicing yoga.
01:17Now they have a format for competition
01:21in which it fits into the bill as far as we are concerned.
01:27So now there's a point system
01:31and I think there are six events, men and six women
01:37that they're using and so it's become a very technical game.
01:44It's like watching gymnastics, somebody doing gymnastics for the fun of it
01:49but what you do in a gymnastic competition
01:56is totally different, totally different.
01:59So the same way, then in every other sport
02:03you burn your body.
02:05Some way or the other it takes something away out of you.
02:08May it even be shooting.
02:10Shooting damages your ears, damages your eyes.
02:15And in those rifles, 10-meter air rifle,
02:21look at the jacket they wear, so heavy.
02:24So back out.
02:26I will not be able to explain more on it.
02:30So now you have yoga
02:34which replenishes us, strengthens us
02:39as well as it's just the right thing to have.
02:45So one side you have competition,
02:47it takes something out of you.
02:50One is to replenish your water, milk, everything else.
02:55Last question, so you're the acting president of the OCA
02:58and all certain that you're going to become the next OCA president.
03:02Your thoughts on it, you know, such a big challenge and what an honor it is going to be for India
03:06once the session begins.
03:08I know there could be some more people, but your thoughts, you know, you've been part of the Olympic movement,
03:13the Asian Games movement, you know, when you say it and name it, you've been part of it.
03:17So your thoughts on it?
03:20Your thoughts on, you know, taking over the OCA as the president?
03:24Well, it's been a long journey.
03:28Definitely been a long journey.
03:30And it's something that
03:36I've been working for it.
03:40I've been in the Olympic Council Asia since 1991.
03:44And being a secretary-general and vice-president
03:48and now, God willing, on Sunday, president.
03:52And so it does, it army.
