00:00Gordon runs dry. It was a hot sunny day on the island of Sodor.
00:08Thomas was making his way to Knapford Station with Annie and Clarabelle.
00:14The Fat Controller had asked Thomas to work on the main line pulling the local,
00:21but first he needed to fill up his water tank.
00:25Gordon was waiting for Percy to bring his coaches so he could pull the express.
00:31Where are my coaches? I shouldn't be kept waiting.
00:35Ha ha ha! Maybe you should fetch your own coaches, Gordon.
00:40Ha! Big engines like me don't fetch their own coaches.
00:45I pull the express, the most important passenger train on the island of Sodor.
00:52Local trains are important too.
00:54Local trains are too slow. They stop at every station.
01:00The express only stops at big, important stations.
01:06At last, Percy arrived with Gordon's coaches.
01:10And Thomas went to the water tower to fill up his tanks.
01:17Make way for the express!
01:22Paxton was hurrying down from the Blue Mountain Quarry with a big load of stone.
01:29He didn't know that Gordon was approaching from the other direction.
01:33The signal changed to red just as Paxton was approaching it.
01:38He had to stop very quickly.
01:43Express coming through!
01:46A big stone flew out of one of Paxton's trucks and bashed off Gordon's boiler.
01:55Sorry, Gordon. Are you okay? That stone gave you a nasty thump.
02:01Yes, Paxton, I'm fine. You can't damage a big, strong engine like me so easily.
02:09You should be checked for damage though, Gordon.
02:12Nonsense! I have to hurry. The express must not be late.
02:18And Gordon hurried on his way without waiting to be checked over.
02:25Gordon hadn't gone very far when his boiler began to run dry.
02:31That's funny. I thought I had plenty of water.
02:35Luckily, there was a water tower just ahead.
02:39I'd better stop and fill up again.
02:42But the passengers were not very happy. They didn't want to be late.
02:48Gordon hurried on his way as quickly as he could.
02:53But he hadn't gone very far when his boiler felt dry again.
02:58I can't keep stopping for water or I'll be very late. I must think about something else.
03:07So Gordon decided to see how many stations he could think of.
03:11Let's see. Tidmouth, Knapford, Crosby, Wellsworth, Marron, Cronk, a lake.
03:23But then he passed a lake. He started to think about needing water for his boiler.
03:30Mustn't think about it. Must keep going. This is the express!
03:37Next, Gordon passed a stream. He could hear the lovely watery sound.
03:44So he whistled very loudly to take his mind off it.
03:51But when he came to the next water tower, he had to stop.
03:57The passengers were very cross. They were saying they thought this was a fast train, not a slow train.
04:05Gordon needed water. His boiler was almost empty.
04:10Sit back, everyone. I'll be very fast now. Just you watch!
04:16At last, Gordon arrived at Wellsworth Station. He stopped to let passengers on and off.
04:24You're running very late today, Gordon.
04:28Oh, I'll make up the time, Henry. You'll see.
04:38But no sooner was Gordon out of the station than his boiler started to feel dry again.
04:45I mustn't stop! I mustn't stop! I need to be fast! I need to be fast!
04:53Gordon saw another water tower, but this time he didn't stop.
05:05The next train will not be stopping at this station. Please stand well away from the edge of the platform.
05:12Express coming through!
05:17Gordon tried to keep himself going.
05:21Hurry! Hurry! Express coming through!
05:27But he simply didn't have enough steam, and soon he couldn't turn his wheels at all.
05:36Thomas was chugging happily along with Annie and Clarabel.
05:41When he noticed a wet trail on the track, I wonder what that could be?
05:48Then Thomas saw Gordon standing up ahead with the Express.
05:52What's the matter, Gordon? Why have you stopped here? This isn't a station.
05:57I've run out of steam.
06:00Oh! You must have a leak in your boiler. I saw a trail of water on the line.
06:06A leak in my boiler? How could that happen to a big, strong engine like me?
06:13Hello, Thomas. Hello, Gordon.
06:16Then Gordon remembered.
06:19The stone!
06:21Gordon had a hole in his boiler where the stone had bashed him.
06:27Oh, the indignity!
06:31Oh, the indignity!
06:34I should have listened to you, Paxton.
06:37I should have been checked over after the stone bashed into me.
06:43Well, yes.
06:45Don't worry, Gordon. I'll take your passengers.
06:48I may not be as fast as you, but I have a full boiler.
06:52And I can shunt you to the steamworks, Gordon.
06:55I may not be as fast as you, but I am very strong.
07:00So Thomas took Gordon's passengers in Annie and Clarabel
07:05and Paxton shunted Gordon's empty coaches onto a siding.
07:10Then Paxton tried to push Gordon, but Gordon wouldn't budge.
07:19Erm, Gordon, have you got your, er, brakes on?
07:24Maybe.
07:26Well, take them off, won't you?
07:28How can I push you with your brakes on?
07:32Gordon was very proud.
07:35He didn't want to be pushed.
07:38But if Gordon didn't let Paxton push him, he wouldn't be going anywhere at all.
07:44Oh!
07:46So Gordon took his brakes off and let Paxton push him to the steamworks.
07:54Everyone was very surprised to see Gordon being shunted along the mainline.
08:00He wasn't a very fast engine now.
08:04Oh, the indignity!
08:08Gordon arrived at the steamworks to have his boiler repaired.
08:13Soon he looked as good as new.
08:17But the other engines still thought it was funny that Gordon had let his boiler run dry.
08:24Don't forget to fill your tank up, Gordon.
08:26Steam engines need to have water.
08:29And, er, watch out for flying stones!
08:32ALL LAUGH
08:34Gordon was not amused,
08:37but he was much more careful about looking after his boiler.
