00:05A Yorkshire MP will lead the debate on the winter fuel payment after its intended withdrawal
00:09from millions of pensioners has led to criticism of her own party's government. Members will
00:14be given the chance to vote on the move to cut the payment tomorrow, and Rachel Maskell,
00:18Labour and Co-op MP for York Central, is scheduled to lead a debate in Westminster Hall after
00:24previously calling for a rethink on the proposal.
00:27Elsewhere, the National Television Awards take place on Wednesday, when programmes linked
00:32to Yorkshire will be up for small screen accolades. Leeds-based Emmerdale is up in the serial
00:37drama category alongside its soap rivals, while the show's star Eden Taylor-Draper is
00:42nominated for the serial drama performance after her character Belle King has featured
00:47in a storyline about domestic abuse.
00:50Mr Bates vs the Post Office, the story of the scandal which affected people from Yorkshire
00:54and nationally, is nominated for Best New Drama, while lead actor Toby Jones is also
00:59up for the drama performance.
01:02The Yorkshire Vet is also up for an award.
01:04At the weekend, the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show at Newby Hall and Gardens takes place
01:08from Friday to Sunday.
