00:00Hi, I'm Annabel Palmer and I'm the Director of Property Development and Partnerships at West Kent Housing Association.
00:07West Kent is building 106 new affordable homes on a site at Castor Park in Addington
00:15and we're really excited about this development for a number of reasons.
00:19We're excited because it's an opportunity to build over 100 homes all for affordable rent
00:25at a time when there's a housing crisis and that is really important for us.
00:30We're excited because these homes are a mixture of rented homes and shared ownership homes
00:36and shared ownership is a means of people getting onto the property ladder
00:41when they might not otherwise be able to buy homes for outright sale.
00:45That's really key at the moment, affordability is a massive challenge for people
00:51and we know that building two, three and four bed homes for people that they are able to buy
00:56a share in will make a difference to people's quality of life.
01:00And we're also excited because we've put community at the heart of this development
01:05so we recognise that when you build a neighbourhood of 100 homes you can't just build the houses
01:12you also have to help people create a community so we're putting in resources to make sure that happens.
