00:00So you know the saga has been extreme.
00:03We have seen a lot of changes in the home.
00:05We've had a lot of delays.
00:07This home was supposed to be ready six months ago.
00:09We've had entire ceilings need to be ripped out.
00:11But the most heartbreaking of all challenges yet

00:29But before I show you the amazing news,
00:32let's head over to the furniture factory
00:33where all of our custom furniture is being created by hand.
00:36These structures have been built out
00:38for just about all of the major furniture in the house.
00:41This right here is the master wardrobe,
00:43which will be standing up like this.
00:45Little closet space, LED lights all across it.
00:49Pretty much every furniture piece
00:50in the house has LED lights.
00:52So to support the desk behind the master bed
00:55is this massive wooden stump,
00:57and I love the way it's carved.
00:59So it's gonna have this nice rugged aesthetic to it.
01:01Here is the custom shape of one of the mirrors.
01:05And I've come in, approved some of the patterns.
01:07These are all hand carved.
01:09I've asked them to make it just a little deeper,
01:11but this one's approved.
01:12The next meeting of the day was Alexandria Audio,
01:15which is basically an audiophile's paradise.
01:17So today I'm a little field trip.
01:19This is Catherine.
01:20Hi.
01:22And this is the dream soundstage.
01:25Basically, you can see this room here
01:27has been custom built to fully optimize
01:30every single audio note coming out of these speakers here.
01:33It's phenomenal.
01:33We just tried Top Gun.
01:35We listened to some of my favorite music,
01:37and it moves you.
01:38It feels balanced.
01:40It feels strong.
01:42It feels like you're experiencing something
01:43you honestly have never experienced.
01:45And this is the quality and the level of experience
01:49I want for Lost Villa.
01:50So when you want something like that,
01:52you can't just go to the Sonos website
01:54and order something right off the shelf.
01:56You kind of have to find the specialist
01:57because it's not just equipment.
02:00The equipment's important,
02:01but it's a lot to do with the layout,
02:03the setup, and the guy behind it.
02:05Absolutely.
02:06So what are we gonna do?
02:07The cinema experience at Lost Villa.
02:09Alexandria Audio actually creates
02:11their own custom speakers here,
02:13and these things sound phenomenal.
02:15It blew me away.
02:17The next day, we met at Lost Villa.
02:19So, a day later, and we're now at Lost Villa,
02:22and Henry and Catherine have basically taken me
02:25through each of the rooms we wanna have
02:27that incredible sound experience.
02:29And we're talking about how we hide the speakers.
02:32We wanna keep them as concealed as possible
02:34because they're not really part of the aesthetic,
02:36the design choice.
02:37So how do you get quality sound
02:38without them being right next to you?
02:40And that's what we're now working on.
02:42The plan is this.
02:43Two speakers in the kitchen ceiling.
02:45Two speakers in the living room ceiling.
02:48Two stereo speakers right there.
02:51And now the hard part is figuring out
02:52where we put the subwoofer.
02:54Problem is, we've put in all of our flooring,
02:56and to get the cable over there
02:58is gonna now be pretty hard.
02:59So we have to get creative.
03:01I'll keep you posted on that one.
03:02We're looking to add a water-resistant coating to them
03:05and bring a few of them out to the courtyard,
03:07a few up to the treehouse,
03:09and a few in the master room.
03:10And then we're going crazy with the cinema.
03:12What's the cinema plan?
03:13Cinema, commercial cinema experience at home.
03:17How many speakers are we going for?
03:19Five plus two subs.
03:20Two subs?
03:21Yeah.
03:22Yeah.
03:24Seven speakers in a little box.
03:25The whole house is gonna vibrate.
03:28You're gonna feel like you're not just watching Top Gun,
03:30you are in the fighter jet along with Tom.
03:34All right.
03:35Stay tuned for the update.
03:36See you later, guys.
03:37See you later.
03:38Bye.
03:39Okay, one more meeting of the day,
03:40but this one involves a bit of travel.
03:42About 24 hours, to be exact.
03:45I have just gotten off a plane from Bali
03:48all the way back home to Vancouver, Canada.
03:50And I had to make a stop to see how this is made.
03:54So you guys might have seen the video
03:55where I went to Milan.
03:56And when I went to Salone del Mobile,
03:59I had the amazing opportunity
04:01to go visit the Bocce showroom.
04:02Kind of cool, but Bocce's actually from Vancouver.
04:05This is one of their giant dream stations,
04:08basically where they come up with the craziest chandeliers
04:10you've ever seen.
04:11And today I'm learning how they go from idea
04:14to V1, to V2, V3,
04:17and then through basically multiple versions,
04:20they get to something more like the final product.
04:23So you guys have already been seeing
04:24that Las Villa is far from your normal villa.
04:27This is my home.
04:28And this is a space that's going to tell stories
04:30in every single corner of the home.
04:32And with that, I really wanted art
04:34that brought people on an amazing adventure.
04:37After working with Stefan,
04:38he told me about a company by the name of Bocce.
04:40And that's where I came across
04:42the most beautiful pendant lights I'd ever seen.
04:45Basically, it looks like taffy, but this is all glass.
04:49I don't know about you guys, but I am just nerding out.
04:51Today, I get to meet with the artisans
04:54that make each and every one of these lights by hand,
04:56and you're going to see how it's done.
04:57It's going to blow your mind.
05:01Basically, you're starting with this initial bubble,
05:03and then we tack on these lobes of glass,
05:06and we gather over top of it.
05:08So how those individual pieces of glass
05:10are then added on with these bubbles.
05:12The glass flows over top of them,
05:14and then basically you have the viscosity,
05:15which just fills the area around it.
05:18It's this soft, amorphous form.
05:27Wow.
05:28The moment they open that up, it's like Sauron's eye.
05:33After that meeting, it was time to go home
05:35and celebrate Christmas with my family
05:37and spend some time with the people
05:39I see the least, but love the most.
05:42Welcome back to Bali.
05:43Oh my gosh.
05:44This host has come such a long way,
05:47and one of the best parts of it was last night.
05:50I came here with one of my buddies, had a sunset beer,
05:53just hung up the two of us,
05:54and watched a beautiful, beautiful, fiery sky.
05:58It's setting in.
05:59This home's really taking shape.
06:00But today, it's a very special meeting.
06:02One of my favorite kinds.
06:04Hello, Anton.
06:05Hi, how are you?
06:07Happy New Year.
06:08That tree we planted, you guys remember,
06:10it's the biggest of the bunch.
06:11It was brought to the central courtyard.
06:13It's already reached the roof line,
06:15and so what we're actually gonna need to do here
06:17is we're gonna cut a hole right in the top
06:19of that roof there so that the Bodhi tree
06:22can continue to thrive and grow up into the sky.
06:25I think it's all part of the design.
06:26Trees growing out of the roof,
06:27that's our iconic thing here,
06:28so I'm very excited about it.
06:30Now, one thing we're realizing
06:31is that this tree sways a lot.
06:34It makes it feel like the platform is moving,
06:36but it's actually the tree.
06:38Because of the sway,
06:39we're gonna have to put some rubber around the tree
06:41to prevent the bark from getting chafed off,
06:43and that could lead to a sick tree,
06:45so we're gonna get that fixed.
06:46So as you know, Bali's changing so quick,
06:49and everything keeps popping up around us.
06:51We've filled along the river
06:52with a lot of heavy tropical planting,
06:55but I think to future-proof Las Villas,
06:57we're gonna add additional trees
06:59to fill in this high to medium level
07:01along the boundary line.
07:02Along the boundary line,
07:04there'll be African tulips
07:05and a local tree, which they call pule,
07:07which is a native forest tree.
07:12And joining me on site today.
07:14Can you help me?
07:17You look like a flower.
07:18Uh-huh.
07:19I'm too scared to go down, I'm not.
07:21Coming back down,
07:23and of course, we're keeping all the branches alive
07:25that we can,
07:26and this is where things are soon to get very interesting.
07:29Check this out.
07:30The building team has just finished up
07:32these criss-crossing wooden structures,
07:34and you might be wondering, what's that for?
07:36That is what the ivy and greenery
07:38is going to grow in and around.
07:40For every hole that you see,
07:4120% of them will have a little fiberglass plant bed
07:44that will lead to ivy growing and criss-crossing
07:47and basically engulfing this entire wooden structure.
07:50So when you're looking from above in the tree house,
07:53when you're throwing the drone up,
07:55this is all going to be a massive green roof.
07:57Anton was saying we could get a nice splash of color
08:00up on this rooftop by adding some...
08:02Bougainvillea.
08:03They come in several different colors.
08:04Hundreds of different colors.
08:06Okay, there's hundreds.
08:07White, all shades of pinks, reds, oranges, everything.
08:11Wow.
08:12They're really cool and very, very tough,
08:13and I love the sun.
08:14Treat them lean and keep them clean.
08:16♪♪
08:18The Congo line.
08:21Come on, ladies.
08:22One of our other exciting projects is the sauna area,
08:25and as you can see, it's really starting to take shape.
08:27We've got the whole beautiful bamboo curvature.
08:30This is going to be the roof line
08:31that will soon be closed in.
08:33That right there is the cold plunge.
08:35Right here is the steam room,
08:36and here will be a series of decks
08:38that we'll create for a space to get massages,
08:41a little relaxation area.
08:43But we have one problem, our neighbor.
08:46We really want to erase that entire white wall.
08:49And right now, this roof line goes all the way to the edge,
08:52which means we can't plant a tree
08:54because the tree would get stuck in the roof.
08:56But that's why Anton's here today.
08:57We're actually going to figure out
08:58how we can cut holes into that roof
09:01so that not only does this roof line
09:02create beautiful intimacy in the space,
09:04but we can also grow greenery out of the roof
09:07and hide that whole neighbor's building.
09:10And then we can poke the tree through,
09:11and then he can be quite happy.
09:13But what if we can do that in two positions?
09:16I think it's going to look even better.
09:17It'll make the bamboo home
09:19look like it was almost grown into the nature.
09:22That's going to be amazing.
09:23So my life these days is pretty much just meetings.
09:25And a few days later, I was back at Bali Chippendale.
09:28The quality of this home is not just what you see,
09:30it's also what you're going to feel.
09:32And this right here might just look
09:34like some sort of strange looking shelf,
09:36but this is actually some of the world's best drawers.
09:40These are the mechanisms that allow for a very soft open
09:43and a very soft close.
09:45And this is Bloom.
09:46Bloom is an Austrian company.
09:47And when anything comes from Austria,
09:49you know it's going to work well.
09:50Check this out.
09:51Bloom Hinges, which gives that beautiful soft open
09:55and that beautiful soft close.
09:58It's honestly, it's so satisfying.
10:01Bali Chippendale has come through
10:03with this incredible finish.
10:10Four hours later, going through details
10:14about hinges, trims, the list just goes on.
10:18It literally never ends when you're building a home.
10:22I definitely could have never guessed how much work
10:25went into building a home like the Lost Villa.
10:27There's been no joke, 10, maybe 20 times more decisions
10:31than I could have ever imagined.
10:33But I will say, the day I move in,
10:35every single one of those hours that I've sacrificed,
10:39every single decision, every single stress,
10:41it will have all been worth it.
10:43It wouldn't be a stop at Bali Chippendale
10:45without the best Korean food in Bali.
10:50Thank you, Ibu.
10:51Yes, sama-sama.
10:52My cabinets come with deep fried onion rings.
10:55I dig it.
11:05So today is a very special day
11:07because back on site is Stefan.
11:10Welcome back to Bali.
11:11Yeah, so glad to be here.
11:13You would not have been wearing that in Brasov right now.
11:15For sure, we have minus nine and a lot of snow.
11:18I was snowboarding in Brasov.
11:21So right now, change of scenery.
11:22Yeah, I love it.
11:23Well, Stefan is, of course, very excited
11:24because he's seeing some of his creations come to life here.
11:28We're standing inside of Stefan's creation, the bird's nest.
11:32It turned out so well.
11:33So well, yeah, better than envisioned.
11:35It's always real good to see it in person
11:38after all the 3D renderings.
11:40Now I can see it all here and it turns out amazing.
11:44Words cannot express how much gratitude I have for Stefan
11:47and the entire single art team.
11:49Not only have they poured their love into Lost Villa,
11:51but into the next project, The Lost Homes,
11:54which are soon to be Bali's most premium homes.
11:56More on that very soon.
11:58This is just the beginning for us.
11:59It's the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
12:01It is.
12:02Wow.
12:17The rain is so crazy.
12:19It's been going hard for two days straight now.
12:22Wow.
12:23This was a super stressful and wet visit to the site.
12:27When Bali rains, it really rains.
12:30And because this home is still windowless,
12:32water started pooling in a few of the rooms.
12:34And when everything is hardwood flooring,
12:36that is not what you want to see.
12:38But no matter how bad the storm gets,
12:40the sunshine will always return.
12:42So you know, the saga has been extreme.
12:45We have seen a lot of changes in the home.
12:47We've had a lot of delays.
12:49We've had entire ceilings need to be ripped out.
12:51But the most heartbreaking of all challenges yet
12:54has been the window situation.
12:56Today is one of the most exciting days here at Lost Villa,
13:00because with me here are the windows.
13:04I seriously can't believe it.
13:07I had given up so many times, and here it is.
13:10The full set of windows have been installed,
13:14not just in the living room,
13:15but in every single one of the five bedrooms.
13:18It's a very special day.
13:21You see, I was this close.
13:22And I don't mean that like as in the YouTube,
13:24like, oh, I almost died.
13:26Like, I mean it like I was literally three hours away
13:29from ordering full new windows,
13:32fully specking out this home with a totally other supplier.
13:36The quotation I received was over $25,000 for that glass.
13:40And as you can imagine, there's no refunds.
13:43Once that order's placed, I would have been out that money.
13:46I would have had two of the same windows for no reason.
13:49But by some miracle, I got a message
13:52the day I was about to order saying,
13:54your windows are coming.
13:56And guess what?
13:57They didn't come.
13:58Again.
13:59But the next week, they did come.
14:01And I was actually in the US at the time
14:04traveling a little bit.
14:05And it was one of the best messages I ever received,
14:07hearing the contractor, Binkai Langit,
14:09say it's a miracle they have arrived.
14:13Building is full of ups and downs,
14:14but moments like these make it all worth it.
14:17Are you ready for this?
14:18Three, two, one.
14:22We have grass, grass and glass.
14:25I'm literally so excited right now.
14:27This place is paradise.
14:32You hear that sound right now?
14:34The sound of the leaves blowing in the wind.
14:37It's just, it's all coming together, guys.
14:40I know, I know, I'm getting really emotional.
14:42But man, when you work so hard on a project
14:45and you see things creeping along,
14:47and then you come back and see how quickly
14:49and radically it's changed,
14:51it feels absolutely phenomenal.
14:53And let me show you another space that is also transformed.
14:56The spa has moved along really beautifully.
14:59We've got the nice dark wood roof.
15:01The deck is starting to be built out
15:03around the cold plunge area.
15:05And we just now need to basically
15:07put a rubber membrane in here.
15:11One of the things that makes these frames so special
15:14is how thin they are.
15:15The glass is surrounded by this minimalist frame.
15:18And once things are set up properly, they slide like crazy.
15:23And if you stay here at some point, you'll feel it.
15:25These windows are very high-end.
15:28With minimal effort, you can move these massive sheets
15:30of glass and open up this entire home
15:33to let the breeze cross through.
15:35It's a really special feeling.
15:37Okay, next up on the list.
15:44The doors are up.
15:50Oh!
15:52Wow.
15:54It's a house.
15:55I feel like I'm ready to move in.
15:57We got a ceiling fan, we got the AC, we got the glass,
16:00and we got our doors all set up.
16:03This is just such a special moment.
16:05So on this project,
16:06we have some of the world's finest sanitaries.
16:09I don't know if they're currently set up.
16:11Let's take a look.
16:12We basically got ourselves the Louis Vuitton,
16:15the Audemars Piguet of sanitaries.
16:18And it is right here.
16:20The company's name is Axor.
16:22And between the master room
16:23and basically the second master room,
16:26because there's pretty much two equally amazing rooms,
16:28we are going to have a rainfall shower,
16:30which is just going to absolutely douse this area
16:33with that beautiful, warm water to let you wash off.
16:36Basically, your own little mini spa
16:39is being installed right here.
16:40Allows you to have this really romantic and private getaway.
16:44You literally won't want to leave this house.
16:45It is so incredible what's happening right now.
16:49So one of the challenges of being in Indonesia
16:51is that a lot of products have heavy import duties,
16:54and therefore, it's way too complicated
16:57to try to bring things in yourself.
16:58So the company I've been using for extremely high-end goods
17:01that come from overseas, usually from Europe or from Canada,
17:05I've been using Simu Versailles.
17:07And they're based in Jakarta.
17:08They resell some of the top products
17:10on the market for high-end homes.
17:12And so they deal with all the headache
17:14of import, the tariffs.
17:16And while it's definitely for the premium price tag,
17:20it allows you to have European-quality,
17:21Western-quality amenities inside your home
17:24while you're here in Indonesia.
17:25You don't want to try importing without them.
17:27I looked into it, and it's an absolute headache.
17:30Now I also want to show you another thing
17:31that comes from Simu, and that is it right there.
17:34These are called butterfly hinges.
17:36So our doors are actually going to have these hidden hinges
17:40that only reveal themselves when you open it.
17:42So if I close the door here,
17:45you don't see any sign of hinges, which is just incredible.
17:48Another exciting addition is our ceiling fans have arrived.
17:52And they're this beautiful wooden style
17:55with kind of like a brushed bronze effect.
17:58So very much on-brand with the rest of the home.
18:01And if you want to learn where I get things like this,
18:04these were quite affordable, I think $350 each.
18:07I'll have a link down below
18:08where soon I'll be sharing all my suppliers,
18:10basically where I got everything
18:12that made Las Villas possible.
18:14Okay, last thing I need to show you for today.
18:16Pakma Day has been hard at work,
18:18and this is the front door for the entire home.
18:22This is our massive, beautiful hand-carved pivot door
18:26that's going to welcome people right there
18:29over the floating pathway that will go overtop the pond.
18:32And it is a piece of art.
18:35I mean, the amount of energy and love
18:37that went into building this thing.
18:38The deck is now basically finished up here in the spa.
18:42And we put two new holes inside the roof
18:45to try and block out completely
18:47that white building next door.
18:50So this is a very important moment in the build,
18:54in the story of Las Villa.
18:55This home was supposed to be ready six months ago,
18:57and it still looks like this.
18:59There's a lot of exciting things to celebrate,
19:01but there's also a lot of work ahead.
19:03But the problem is I have been acting as project manager,
19:06basically trying to facilitate communication
19:09between design team, furniture team, landscaper,
19:13all the specialists that have come into the picture
19:15and the contractor.
19:17And so as the middleman, I can tell you right now,
19:20it's been a lot of work.
19:22There's a lot of questions, a lot of sticking points,
19:24and it's become a lot for me to handle
19:27while trying to build out Las LeBlanc,
19:29Las Creator Academy,
19:30and all the other things that I love to do.
19:32So I found the solution, and that is a project manager.
19:37Hiring somebody that hasn't done this for the first time,
19:40but has done this dozens of times.
19:42Worked on hotels, large villas, all sorts of projects,
19:46and seen all these problems
19:47that I'm now encountering for the first time.
19:49And one of the members of that team
19:51that I need to introduce you to is Anthony.
19:54Hi, how you going?
19:55Cheers, Anthony.
19:56This is the rescue team to basically help this project
20:00keep to a timeline and get these doors closed.
20:04Well, technically open,
20:05but try to get this villa operational.
20:08And this is Juju, she's also on the team.
20:10So Anthony, this morning,
20:12and I have walked around the whole villa,
20:14talked about all the different things
20:15that could be causing problems,
20:17either in the future or are currently sticking us right now.
20:20So I'll give you a little rundown of a few of them.
20:22Number one is the joint work between these large stones.
20:25Anthony and the team pointed out
20:27that we think it could be done even more tastefully
20:29to hide some of this concrete that you see right now.
20:32We also looked at adding a service entrance point,
20:35so for any future maintenance,
20:37we're not having to cut holes and walls
20:39and ceilings, et cetera,
20:40allowing easier access to all of the cable work
20:43and plumbing that you can see,
20:45just really to help with any modifications in the future.
20:47One of the things you'll come to learn as you build
20:49is that what the architect wants
20:50is not the same thing as what your project manager
20:52will advise you.
20:53What I've loved about today's meeting
20:55is that it's not just looking at what's happening right now,
20:58it's about what's this villa gonna look like
21:00when things break and go wrong?
21:02Are we gonna have to shut down the villa for two, three days
21:05just to fix an electrical problem?
21:08This is where it's so helpful to have the team
21:09not just helping to make sure we're on track with completion
21:12but also getting ahead of problems.
21:14Another thing that came to my attention a few weeks ago
21:17just before I left was this.
21:19The water running off of the roof right now
21:21is not being properly managed.
21:22We need that water to either be primarily coming
21:25into the courtyard and completely clearing the footpath
21:29or we need to send it all the way to the backyard.
21:32And right now the roof is completely flat,
21:34so the project management team will be helping me
21:36not just come up with some ideas
21:37but also find the people that will make it happen
21:40and do it quickly.
21:41We talked about extraction fans
21:43to basically remove humidity from the showers
21:46out into the outdoors
21:47and there were about a half dozen other little things
21:49just like that.
21:50But beyond just catching things right now,
21:52the really important thing for me
21:53is to be pulled out of being project manager.
21:56Sometimes having to play babysitter on WhatsApp,
21:58following up with all the contractors,
22:00the third parties, the suppliers, the specialists,
22:04finding out the timelines
22:05and if they're still holding to them,
22:07that's no longer my responsibility.
22:08And that right there is like taking a two-ton stone boulder
22:12off of my shoulder and I feel so grateful
22:15because I can tell you right now,
22:17this has been almost a full-time job
22:20while having so much else on my plate.
22:22I'll keep you posted on how having a project manager
22:25helps me in this process, but it's a very exciting start.
22:28The finish line is in sight
22:29and I can't wait to show you what's next.
22:31Let's get lost again in the next one.
