00:00It is a very, very rainy day at Windrock Park, and we are here with the 2024 Polaris Razor
00:07Pro R4 Ultimate.
00:09This is the absolute top of the heap for performance four-seat side-by-sides, and today we're going
00:14to give you everything you need to know about this machine.
00:16We're going to go over every inch to show you exactly what the numbers on the spec sheet
00:20mean in real life, and we're going to start with price.
00:22The model behind me, this is the Ultimate.
00:24It retails for $44,999.
00:27You might be able to find some discounts locally depending on what sort of rebates Polaris
00:30is working, so check with your local dealer.
00:32All right, let's talk dimensions.
00:33This is a big machine.
00:35She's a school bus.
00:36We're talking 165.5 inches long.
00:39That's within sniffing distance of a four-door Jeep Wrangler.
00:42Oh, a Jeep's ahead, buddy.
00:44I mean, she's a big girl.
00:46It's also 74 inches wide, so if you've got a narrow trailer, you might need to upgrade.
00:52It's also 76.5 inches tall, so it might not fit in some enclosed trailers.
00:58Polaris says this rig weighs 2,480 pounds dry, which is pretty heavy for a side-by-side.
01:02There's a 12.3-gallon fuel tank on board.
01:05We found that's good for about a full day's worth of riding in most conditions.
01:09It does require premium gasoline, a minimum of 91 octane.
01:13It needs that fuel because there is a beast of an engine in this machine.
01:16ProR uses a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine, good for 225 horsepower at 8,250 RPM.
01:25That's actually more power than the Polaris slingshot that this engine comes from.
01:29That engine's bolted to a traditional rubber belt CVT gearbox with park, reverse, neutral,
01:34low, and high.
01:35ProR benefits from a true selectable four-wheel drive system.
01:39This is not an all-wheel drive system, so you've got two-wheel drive with a permanently
01:43locked rear axle.
01:45You can select four-wheel drive with the front axle open, or you can select four-wheel drive
01:50with the front differential locked.
01:52The ProR gets all of its power to the ground via these 32-inch Maxxis Rampage Fury tires.
01:56They're wrapped around 15-inch aluminum wheels.
01:59It's worth noting that the ProR uses a beefy five-lug hub.
02:03That's a lot more stout than the old four-lug setup we used to see.
02:07Behind those wheels are some serious brakes, too.
02:09We're talking three-piston calipers up front, two-piston calipers in the rear.
02:12Pedal feels nice and firm and confident, even after coming down from big speed.
02:17Because this is the ProR 4 Ultimate, you get one of the best suspensions in the side-by-side
02:21business.
02:22These Fox 3.0 Live Valve shocks are electronically controlled by the Dynamix DV system.
02:28That means you get four ride modes, Comfort, Rock, Track, and Baja.
02:32I cannot believe how good the suspension is on this thing.
02:35Up front, you get these boxed dual A-arms and a three-piece sway bar, and that setup's
02:39good for 22 1⁄4 inches of wheel travel.
02:42Normally, on a lower-spec rig, these A-arms are either stamped out of steel, super flimsy,
02:47or just regular tube.
02:48This box-section stuff is way stronger.
02:51Now, back, you get this big, beefy, boxed trailing arm with a tow link and high-clearance
02:55radius arms.
02:56All that's good for 24.5 inches of wheel travel, and combined, you get about 16 inches of ground
03:01clearance, which is pretty good.
03:03Again, Ultimate trim gives you these really slick LED headlights and taillights, which
03:07means you can see and be seen on the trail.
03:10Super important.
03:11You also get these accent lights for daytime running lights.
03:14Before we jump inside, let's take a look at the cargo area.
03:17This is a pretty good-sized box, 29.5 inches long.
03:2023.8 inches wide and 8.1 inches deep.
03:23You can fit a full-size cooler back there, no problem.
03:26This is a four-door model.
03:27All four doors are reversed-hinged with just an interior release.
03:32There is no exterior door handle.
03:35Just got this guy inside.
03:36There's also no weather-stripping around the doors, so if you are over the sills in water,
03:41that stuff's coming inside.
03:43Pro-4 Ultimate also gets this very sturdy aluminum roof, which is great.
03:47Keeps the sun, or lack thereof, off of the four color-matched seats inside.
03:51Inside driver and front passenger get four-way adjustable seats with retractable harnesses.
03:56Rear passengers get fixed buckets with non-retractable harnesses.
04:00These seats are stadium style, which means they sit a little bit higher than the front
04:04seats, which gives the rear passengers a clear view of the trail ahead.
04:07Really cuts down on motion sickness, and it's just a better time for the folks sitting in
04:11the back.
04:12There's also a lot of room back here.
04:14You can fit a full-size adult.
04:15There's plenty of room in the toe box for your shoes.
04:18Your knees aren't banging up against the front seats.
04:20It's great.
04:21Back up front, the passenger gets an adjustable grab bar, while the driver can clamp both
04:25hands on a tilt and telescoping steering wheel.
04:27One of the nice things about this trim, the steering wheel has controls for both the Dynamix
04:31DV system and the infotainment system.
04:33Handsome analog gauges convey vehicle speed and engine RPM, while toggles to the left
04:38of the steering wheel take care of lighting controls and four-wheel drive system controls.
04:43As with other Polaris vehicles, the Pro R4 Ultimate uses the excellent Ride Command system.
04:48It controls the Rockford Fosgate stereo with AM, FM, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity.
04:54That means you get music streaming and hands-free calling.
04:56The stereo has two tweeters, four speakers, and a 400-watt amp.
05:01And that seven-inch Ride Command screen handles navigation with more than one million miles
05:06of mapped trails.
05:07You can also use it with your gloves, which is super handy because, hey, we're always
05:11wearing gloves out here.
05:12You can also link Ride Command systems with other Polaris vehicles, so you can stay in
05:16touch with the other riding buddies.
05:17You can share routes.
05:18You can also communicate, even when you're far from cell service.
05:21There's also a pretty decent amount of interior storage here.
05:24You get two cup holders up front, two cup holders in the rear.
05:27You get a glove box and a center console.
05:30That one's nice and sealed for your cell phone.
05:32That's also where the USB connection is for the Ride Command.
05:35That's everything you need to know about the 2024 Polaris RZR Pro R4 Ultimate.
