03:54Libya's coastguard on Friday returned a boat carrying 64 migrants to Syrte, the town they
04:00had just set off from.
04:01On Wednesday, the Italian coastguard released this dramatic video of them rescuing nine
04:06migrants after their boat capsized off the island of Lampedusa.
04:10They also recovered a body of one of the migrants.
04:14The boat had set off from Libya with 32 people on board from Egypt and Syria.
04:19By the time of the rescue, 22 were already missing, presumed drowned when the boat capsized.
04:25According to the International Organization of Migration, nearly 67,000 migrants have
04:30gone missing in the Mediterranean in the past 10 years.
04:34They are presumed to have perished in the sea as they tried desperately to reach Europe.
04:39So far this year, 43,000 migrants have reached Italy, far fewer than the previous year when
04:45around 20,000 arrived in just one month alone in August.
