00:00at the world championship finale that anyone can win this if they get hot. Let's give you
00:06the progressive keys to the race here, Ricky.
00:08Yeah, if you're Tom D. L., I think you continue that success that he had from the pro motocross
00:13championship coming off the last few rounds. He was riding exceptionally well. He won the
00:18last round and had a great first smx race here last year. Keep it going.
00:23Yeah, and if you're Hayden Deegan, you keep that bus rolling. You got the keys to the
00:27kingdom. Everybody's chasing you. Look, you're the driver. Keep them rolling. Let's see if
00:32we can start today. All right. Deegan did win the very first moto
00:36of this format last year in Charlotte. Let's see if he can do it again. The split start.
00:42Riders on the right side, they're going to turn right. Riders on the left will turn left.
00:45They will meet in the middle for the first time. There's been so much talk. What would
00:52happen when everyone returns to racing and understands this format for the second year?
00:58It's time to race smx. Jalik swole down off the start of the left side.
01:10On the inside, on the other side. Let's see how this plays out.
01:16Where they meet. I think that's Julian Bumera in the ktm, but he is second. That is Levi
01:21Kenseth. Hot starts continue in smx. Looks like RJ is in front of Hayden Deegan.
01:26Didn't get the best job. Great start by Levi. We have seen these starts from Kenseth throughout
01:34the year. When he gets out front, he's dangerous. We have a red flag. We did see swole down.
01:41This is going to be a restart. Not sure if it's due to swole or another incident we did not see.
01:47Yep. You saw Jalik swole goes down on the start. Not sure exactly what happened.
01:54If he locked bars. There's his motorcycle. Weird place to go down. Not impossible, but
02:02it is tight right there. And that is part of the racetrack. Comes very,
02:07very close to that. I'm not sure if that might have been the problem. There on the left side,
02:11you can see, I believe that's the alpine stars medical team out there.
02:16Yeah. These guys are fighting towards that inside. I'm assuming he probably did lock
02:20bars like you said. Talk break for Jalik, man. He's been riding great all year. Hopefully,
02:27he's not too beat up. Yeah. He had been rock solid, said yesterday in the press conference.
02:31The goal was to race every race all year. He had done that to get into these playoffs.
02:36And learning all the time with that new brand of triumph. Now we just hope for the best for Jalik.
02:42Young rider out of Florida. Got that brand's first podium a couple of weeks ago.
02:46I didn't see Hayden Deegan up there in the top five. He certainly wasn't in the top four.
02:51Yeah. He was around like tenth. He was not a good start there for Deegan.
02:57But he will get another shot at it. We will re-rack it and restart it.
03:01S&X playoff one from Concord, North Carolina. We will be right back.
03:31Absolutely amazing.
04:31So that's it. That's a quick recap of 28 races. But I thought that was impressive.
04:52And I got to be there for Supercross. You got to be there for Pro Motocross.
04:56We have five new champions for this season.
04:59J.Sexton, of course, we have to watch him take his 450 Pro Motocross championship.
05:05Absolutely. We saw Jeff just almost dominate that Supercross series.
05:11He came out of that great start. The 7% really excelled. Really shined.
05:15That's an excellent start for us in the year.
05:17And maybe he stepped up and answered the call and was there for J.Sexton.
05:20Child 250, Deegan. Right off, right? Solid run for a Pro Motocross season.
05:25The guy knew his number. He did everything he needed to do.
05:27He burned lots of gas. He put the laps in.
05:29He focused on results. That's what he focused on.
05:32He focused on the big picture.
05:33But along the way, we saw a lot of stuff.
05:36We saw Tommy Owens have a great season. Tommy Owens has a fantastic condition.
05:40The time after that, when he first went at high point this year, he won 1-1.
05:45And gave him 300 victories and just made a good start.
05:49Well, what a cool day for him.
05:50I'm going to try to get it right again.
05:51Tom, yeah, we mentioned him. He took home the East Championship.
06:15Monster Energy, proud partner of the SupermotoCross World Championship.
06:21At downtown Charlotte, we're about a half hour away.
06:27Concord, North Carolina, home of the Charlotte motor speedway complex.
06:30And Zmax dragway, the four-wide drag strip.
06:33Unfortunately, Jaleek Swole's day appears to be over.
06:36But fortunately, we do see he is awake and alert,
06:39taking a ride with the Alpine Stars medics after a crash off the start.
06:44And we can show you that now.
06:45What do you think here, Carmichael? Show us.
06:48He's on the inside. Gets a bad jump.
06:51And he just gets squeezed out right here.
06:54Super easy to do.
06:56Hits the ground extremely hard.
06:57Yeah, just gets squeezed out. Loses his balance.
07:00Here's a better shot at it from head on.
07:02See as Deegan goes. Oh, he goes off course.
07:05Loses grip with his front end.
07:09Yeah, they hit that concrete probably.
07:10Yeah, him and Hayden was going and just pushing.
07:12Like you said, there's a little edge right there.
07:14And he caught it and he goes down.
07:17Yeah, like on the edge of the dirt right there.
07:19That's not exactly where he was, obviously.
07:21But the dirt is very loose right there.
07:24And just lost traction.
07:27So now we restart.
07:29But he'd only put about four turns in the books.
07:31So everyone goes back to the gate for the full allotted race time.
07:33Let's send it back to Jason Thomas.
07:35Yeah, I was just going to add on that Swole crash.
07:36You can see he's trying to stay in it until the last second.
07:39A lot of times when that happens, instead of putting his hands down,
07:42like he kind of gives up and I'm going to crash,
07:44put his hands down to protect himself.
07:45When you try to stay in it that long, guess what's the first thing to hit?
07:48Your hands are still on the bars.
07:49You go ahead first.
07:50And that's kind of what we saw right there.
07:53Yeah, tough break for Swole there.
07:55Thanks to the report, JT.
07:57That's for Hayden.
07:57Deegan built it up last year.
08:00Great as a rookie in supercross and motocross.
08:02Then won the SMX World Championship a year ago.
08:05Missed the supercross title this year,
08:07but did take the pro motocross championship.
08:10And doing a lot of it with consistency as well.
08:14And now he doesn't have anyone to his left side, James.
08:17Yeah, I was just about to point that out.
08:18That's going to help him give a little bit more room to work with.
08:21So he's got to get a better jump than he did that first gate drop.
08:25Yeah, he was way far back there.
08:27Definitely don't want to be spotting these guys,
08:30that kind of track position on a track that is tough to get by riders on.
08:34Good to see Joe Shimoda back from a collarbone injury.
08:37Let's take a look at that.
08:38Let's do it again.
08:40SMX Moto 1.
08:52It was kitchen out front the first time.
08:54Not going to be the case this time.
08:56Julian Bumair and Roderick DeFrancisco battling it.
08:59Bumair to the lead.
09:02I love it.
09:02Two young guns out here getting the job done.
09:05And what a turn of events.
09:07Look at Joe on the outside.
09:08I like that line.
09:09Well, let's see if he can turn it into the lead, James.
09:11Yeah, it looks like RJ pretty much started where he was.
09:14And now it looks he gets up in third place.
09:17Nice move by Joe.
09:18Feeling froggy.
09:19And this is exactly a guy coming off an injury.
09:21This is exactly where he wants to be at.
09:23And with RJ, the way he's been rolling all day.
09:26Great start.
09:26I mean, think about these athletes and just how strong they are.
09:29Joe had a broken collarbone.
09:32He's four weeks out from that injury.
09:35And he's out here in the playoffs racing for the lead.
09:39That's incredible.
09:40Yeah, but he is under fire from Hampshire right now, RC.
09:43Shimoda the winner of this race last year.
09:45And Hampshire going wide.
09:47Kind of built that inside up to slow them down.
09:50Hampshire trying to make the outside work.
09:52Yeah, as the day goes on, that's going to play out well.
09:54It's just they worked on the track.
09:56So RJ was just spinning.
09:57Looks like is that Levi behind him that made a few passes?
10:00Or oh, that's McAdoo, Cameron.
10:02Wow, Cameron McAdoo out of the last chance qualifier.
10:05And a bad gate pick on the 63s there.
10:08Here's the fight, RC, for the lead.
10:09Shimoda still holding Hampshire.
10:11Yeah, Hampshire trying to make that split lane work.
10:14Look, going up the inside here.
10:15Now, he's going to have the preferred line.
10:17But not going to be close enough to make the move.
10:20This is one of these tracks where it's very difficult to pass on.
10:23So if you're going to make a pass, you have to be right on the rear end of the guy in front
10:27of you.
10:28And he slips just a little bit.
10:29Boom, you have to take the opportunity.
10:31Very slow.
10:32Oh, James, what happened there?
10:34He just spun up.
10:35And you can see it coming because he came up short on the first one.
10:38And he came up a little bit more.
10:39And then that just caught up.
10:40But he loses the position.
10:42But that's what RJ does.
10:43He ain't too worried about that.
10:45Good to see Cameron out there coming out of the L.C.Q.
10:48Up front in third place right now.
10:50And coming off of injury that knocked him out of the supercross championship.
10:54This battle raging for third.
10:57See if Hempshire can lock it down.
10:59He's got it.
11:00Send it down to Will Moore, the race leader.
11:03That's right out there in front.
11:05Jason Julian, the multitasker.
11:08We've documented throughout the year how this isn't his only sport.
11:11His history goes back to jet ski racing.
11:15And he, guys, has not given this up.
11:17About eight weeks ago, he got out in his jet ski once.
11:21Then last weekend, he took a red eye on Friday night.
11:26Did the jet ski world qualifiers on Saturday and Sunday.
11:30Red eye back on Sunday night.
11:32Road Tuesday.
11:33And here he is.
11:34Those worlds that he's qualifying for are going to happen mid-October.
11:38So if he ends up doing all three playoffs here, he will be competing in two world championships
11:43within the space of a month.
11:45And he's out here leading, guys.
11:46That's just incredible.
11:48It's an incredible story.
11:49And you think about the athleticism in Julian Bummeir and how hard it is to do one sport
11:56as a professional.
11:57And he's out there doing two.
11:59Impressive.
11:59Hayden Diggins learning how hard it is right now.
12:01James with a bad start.
12:02He's eighth.
12:03Well, we saw this happen at the end of the motocross.
12:05He was getting bad starts in just certain tracks.
12:07He was kind of sticking back there.
12:09So I'm interested to see, was that just a case of the racetracks?
12:13Was that because of the championship?
12:14Or will he be able to ride his way up?
12:16He's got Levi kitchen right in front of him.
12:18And then the L.C.Q.
12:19Winner and Carson Monfort right in front of them.
12:21So Hayden's got a lot of work to do.
12:25It's either options or mistakes.
12:27Also, Tom Vielle.
12:27This could be the three best riders out here fighting just inside the top ten on all different
12:33race lines.
12:33Did you see that?
12:35He came up on the back side of a berm from the other lane.
12:39That was pretty crafty by Hayden Diggins.
12:42But I will tell you, this is what I love about the SMX form of two motos style of racing.
12:49This is going to help these guys in a way.
12:51Because you can imagine if it was just one main event, this would be a really tough position
12:55to be in.
12:56They're going to have two motos trying to dig themselves out of the hole they put themselves
13:00in.
13:01Yeah, you guys are right.
13:02These are the guys we had for the win.
13:04Or picking to run up front for the win.
13:06Man, I don't know.
13:07But I agree with you.
13:08But I also just saw Hayden Diggins rail that berm around Levi kitchen.
13:13Yeah, you can tell he's moving up.
13:14That was a strong move.
13:16Yeah, this is the time you got to get them.
13:18In the beginning part of the race is why these guys are bunched up.
13:20Hayden's making the moves and just went past three riders in a quarter of a lap.
13:24This is unbelievable.
13:25He is now caught.
13:27Mumford.
13:28Wait.
13:28Rider DeFrancisco coming back on Diggins.
13:31He can work the inside of the split lane.
13:33Yeah, this split lane.
13:34We're watching L.C.Q.
13:35Where it looked like the inside was a little bit quicker as Hayden was able to get back.
13:40Two for.
13:41Got Mumford as well, R.C.
13:43Yeah, right up that inside.
13:44No, Mumford fights back in the sand.
13:46Look at that.
13:47That was an incredible save.
13:49James, the front end was sliding out.
13:51Yeah.
13:51And that was because Carson didn't back out.
13:53He leaned on Hayden and Hayden had to back it out.
13:56Almost went down.
13:57So nice move by him.
13:59Not giving up.
14:01Mumford brand new to this firepower Honda and showing what he's capable of.
14:04But Diggins has a different line through the rhythm lane.
14:07See if he can use it.
14:08He wanted to scrub.
14:09He kind of kicked and he couldn't get the bike back down.
14:12And this was that line that he did a lap earlier.
14:15I didn't do it.
14:15Yeah, he couldn't do it.
14:16Carson was too close.
14:17But Hayden's moving his way forward.
14:19Yeah.
14:20You know, everyone asks what makes Hayden Diggins what he is.
14:25And you're watching it right now.
14:27He just finds ways to get by people.
14:29He rides that edge.
14:31And you have to do that, especially on a track like this.
14:34And, James, you talk about you got to be comfortable at being uncomfortable.
14:38And he is one of the best to ever do that.
14:41Well, a guy that's comfortable is your leader right now.
14:43And Julian got four seconds over the guys that were championship threats.
14:48Joe Shimoda and R.J.
14:49So he's got a great pace.
14:51And Hayden's starting to close in on these guys.
14:55But Julian's rolling, R.C.
14:56Julian was talking yesterday at the press conference about how he likes this style track
15:02and was excited for today here for the first SMX round.
15:06And what a way to get the momentum going for sure.
15:09And I think for the mental psyche, this is huge.
15:12And, you know, we talked about him a lot this year, this first season.
15:16And he's done well.
15:18J.T., you're down on the floor.
15:19And I think you got something for us on the number one.
15:22Send it back down to Jason Thomas.
15:25Yeah, that line that Hayden Deegan used was amazing, right?
15:28He's innovating, which is the point you guys are making, is finding ways to pass.
15:31But you're going to see him go up on the wall here.
15:33And that's going to change the entire angle that he's allowed to enter this corner.
15:37And he opens a corner up, which allows him to cut down, shortens that corner.
15:40You can see him literally closing the gap down to Levi Kitchen there.
15:45That's a super innovative line.
15:46That was used as a barrier.
15:47That wasn't really something that riders were planning on using to make that corner.
15:51That's the type of thing that Hayden Deegan sees on a racetrack that other riders simply
15:55don't.
15:55So if you're looking for things just in a nutshell of how Hayden Deegan is beating these
15:59guys, things like you guys said that no one else is thinking about, that's a perfect example.
16:04James, you were talking about just how well Julian Beaumar is riding.
16:07He was the fastest guy on the track last lap with a 1.43.2.
16:12Next closest guy was Hayden Deegan at a 1.43.8.
16:15The rest of the guys behind them are like one and a half to two seconds off pace.
16:20Yeah, he's showing them how to do it on the skis out there.
16:24I can tell your fastest lap is going to be this number one.
16:27As J.T. Was mentioning, we saw that line.
16:29Hayden Deegan, if you just watch him, he's doing little creative lines all over this
16:34racetrack and really separating himself on a track that everybody's been pretty close
16:39all day long.
16:39It's pretty impressive, Jason.
16:41Over jump and then a wheelie on the landing.
16:43Yeah, you name it, he's doing it.
16:45Kitchin and Vial, who were battling with Deegan, are still battling each other.
16:49Vial on the 16.
16:50They've caught Mumford.
16:52Deegan and McAdoo battling up ahead.
16:53Go ahead.
16:54You see the distance between Tom Vial and Levi Kitchin, how much time that Deegan has
17:01put on them.
17:02They were just behind him two laps ago on a track, again, that we're emphasizing, a track
17:07that everyone is so close in speed except the number one.
17:12Like James, you were saying, just finds ways to be faster in little areas, being more aggressive,
17:17being creative with the line choice, not following guys and just finding a way.
17:22Yeah, and it's got to somewhat be demoralizing for Tom Vial and Levi just getting past because
17:28Hayden went past both of those guys.
17:30He was behind him and he's gone.
17:32He's the only one that's in the 142.1.
17:36The dude's rolling and you're going to see him roll right past these guys.
17:40RJ wanted to be in the danger zone.
17:41Well, he's in the danger zone at this moment right in front of him.
17:45Oh, and what do you think, James?
17:47Deegan probably listened to some of those comments from RJ.
17:50Yeah.
17:51I always said Hayden Deegan rides like a guy who comes from nothing.
17:54Like everything, he's got an attitude.
17:57He wants it and he's showing it, Will.
17:59That's right.
18:00I was talking to RJ Hampshire about this today and he is definitely ready to take it to Hayden
18:04Deegan.
18:05He said, if I get beaten by him, then go ahead, I get beaten by him.
18:08He's like, well, somebody's at least got to give him a run.
18:11They can't let him get away with that.
18:13So he thought that everybody had pretty much just been letting Hayden get away with his
18:17talk this week.
18:17And he did tell me earlier on in qualifying, they were bouncing back and forth, following
18:22each other, knocking up fastest laps.
18:24And he said he shouted forward at Hayden.
18:26He's like, I just want to let him know that I'm there.
18:29Oh, he knows that Deegan's there right now.
18:31The other way around, they're battling right behind Shimoda, RC.
18:34That was an incredible line that Hayden Deegan had right there over that little spine corner.
18:39He took a wider entry, tried to tuck back underneath inside, irons the split lane.
18:43Oh, this could come into play.
18:45Who can grease it inside, outside?
18:47Deegan's got the big run.
18:48Meanwhile, they've got Shimoda in their sights as well.
18:52Yeah, Hayden Deegan.
18:54Shimoda almost went down, James.
18:55And now Hampshire almost down and is going to make the pass at the same time.
18:59Well, that's kind of what RJ, turn a mistake.
19:01That was a mistake on purpose.
19:03That's the way it is.
19:04And again, Hayden just has way better lines than these guys.
19:08And it's really cool to watch.
19:09And as we said, these guys have been in the same lap times as Hayden does that quad he
19:14was doing in practice.
19:15If he can get over this next one, let's see if he can get alongside of Joe.
19:19He's got the quad now over the ski jump.
19:21And that allows him to get alongside and across ahead of Shimoda.
19:27Got him.
19:29Hey, shout out again to Bo Mair of the leader.
19:32These guys aren't putting any.
19:34They're not.
19:34They're not closing the gap.
19:36He is keeping that lead to around the fourth second mark.
19:40Incredible ride by the rookie.
19:42Shimoda trying to come back on Deegan.
19:44Deegan attacking Hampshire.
19:45Great racing.
19:46Let's see where this line right here.
19:48Hayden goes on the inside.
19:49Let's see if he can get past RJ.
19:52See little lines like that.
19:53And what it does, it sets him up better to go down this next straightaway because he's
19:57basically turning that kink into a straight shoot.
20:01And he's making a lot of time on these guys.
20:03Just watch the creativity here.
20:05Remember I talked about he took a wider exit coming into the end of this corner.
20:09Then he tries to sneak back up the inside right there.
20:13Just like little spots.
20:14Like you're saying, James, that's where he makes up the time.
20:20Halfway through this.
20:22And a reminder that monster energy is on sales.
20:25We get this halfway mark.
20:28Just passed it in 20 minutes.
20:29Go ahead.
20:30I thought he was going to get him, which he does.
20:33But RJ got that last part.
20:34Hayden made a mistake.
20:35He's going to be up on the inside.
20:38And he's right there.
20:40Faithful ascent.
20:41Right up against the tough box looking for an opening.
20:44Yeah, that's impressive because he's on the inside of the inside standing up.
20:48Oh, and he runs it in on Hampshire.
20:50It's on now.
20:51It's on.
20:52And it's off cambered in that sand right there.
20:54Here's this quad that he was doing.
20:57Oh, Hampshire's in the top box and down.
21:01Yeah.
21:02All of that was set up because the pressure from Hayden Degan coming.
21:05I know that was tough on RJ.
21:07We saw guys crashing there all day long.
21:10Yeah, that rhythm lane has been claiming victims.
21:13Claimed his teammate.
21:14Yep.
21:14Kasey Cochran was not dealt.
21:16Cochran, yep, in practice today.
21:18His bike is demolished.
21:20That left side of the handle bar.
21:21It looks like his clutch lever is down.
21:23His front number plate has come off.
21:25Take a replay here of what happens.
21:28He gets in, and Hayden Degan jumps the quad.
21:31RJ, it looks like he kind of over jumps that a little bit and still goes for that triple.
21:35And he basically bottoms out.
21:37He gets a little wiggle and just jumps off the racetrack.
21:39And there was nothing he could do.
21:40He was on for the ride.
21:43Meanwhile, Julian Bumair, yet to win a race as a pro, seventh in the supercross standings,
21:5011th in the pro motocross standings and leading the way.
21:52Degan is cutting the gap down quickly.
21:54But what a ride.
21:55But the young rider from lake Havasu, Arizona.
21:58Yeah, absolutely.
21:59I mean, kind of wouldn't say coming out of nowhere.
22:01We talked about during the motocross, that 7th to 10th.
22:04These guys are riding really good.
22:06It just shows you what happens when a guy like him gets a start.
22:09And whether he wins this race or not, Ricky, this is going to be a huge momentum boost for
22:13him and his confidence moving forward.
22:15100%.
22:16If he wins it or not, this is like a win in my book for Julian Bumair talking about.
22:21And it's little moments like this, James, that I believe that guys like this can take
22:26it to take their career to the next level.
22:30Because now they know that they can and believe that they can run this pace.
22:35Set it down to Will.
22:36As the battle materializes.
22:38Hold on, Will.
22:39Degan's got the quad in the rhythm lane.
22:41And with it, he has the lead.
22:43As simple as that.
22:44Gone.
22:45Man, the dude's on it, Will.
22:49Yeah, that was an incredible plus.
22:50I wanted to circle back to Julian Bumair and Ricky and Stu, what you were saying about
22:54his comfort.
22:55I think a lot of that from what he was saying has come to getting back on a supercross setup.
23:01And for you guys, what I'm hearing this year compared to last year is pretty different.
23:06It was a mix last year.
23:07Some guys were on an outdoor setup, so they stiffened up.
23:10Others were on supercross setups.
23:11Across the 250 class, pretty much everybody is on their supercross suspension.
23:15They said maybe just softened up a little bit.
23:17This is a strong field of supercross suspension, including Julian Bumair.
23:21How do they handle it on those faster, outdoorsy areas of the track?
23:28They hold on for dear life.
23:31And they be selective with their lines.
23:33Searching for smooth lines.
23:34Moving around, Will, and trying to hit the less aggressive, bumpy lines because of that
23:40suspension.
23:41So Degan now in the lead and quickly pulling away from Bumair.
23:44Shimoda is third.
23:46And battling here.
23:48Teammates.
23:48Kenseth has caught McAdoo.
23:50McAdoo just getting back to racing in time for the playoffs.
23:53A long way off.
23:55And Kenseth trying to salvage some points here.
23:58He had the whole shot.
23:59The race is red flagged and restarted.
24:01Right now he's fighting for fifth.
24:03Yeah, I mean, it's going to be disappointing for Levi.
24:05I mean, being out front, who knows what would happen if we wouldn't have that red flag.
24:09But to see your main competition, the guy that you want to be, Hayden Degan just, I
24:15mean, literally just fly past you and is in a different atmosphere at this point.
24:20It's going to be tough on him no matter what position he finishes this race.
24:25It will break your spirit.
24:26It will definitely break your spirit for sure.
24:30Tough pill to swallow.
24:31But he's just that good.
24:33But at the same time, it's an opportunity for these guys to make some adjustments.
24:38Learn from that.
24:39And try to learn a new pace.
24:41And as we see, McAdoo and kitchen battler reminds you of what might have been for this
24:48mighty pro circuit Kawasaki team.
24:51These were riders both leading the respective coast in the supercross standings until they
24:55crashed into each other at the showdown in Nashville.
24:59So try to play nice this time.
25:02Yeah, and a good thing for these guys.
25:03I mean, there's another moto here.
25:05So, you know, Levi needs to concentrate on that.
25:08And as you said before, Ricky, if you're going to have an off weekend, you want to
25:11do it at the first one, single points.
25:12But it's definitely going to be tough.
25:14Because not only are you seeing this, you've got the guy who's winning just creating more
25:18confidence as Levi's trying to get up the inside of his teammate.
25:21Might need to do a little bit of teammate-on-teammate crime to get around him.
25:26Now, in Nashville, that was incidental.
25:27That was just at the start.
25:28But yeah, it might have to be aggressive action now.
25:33Jordan Smith right behind him.
25:36Now, here's the other thing you know about RJ Hampshire.
25:38He'll give you everything he has, even if he goes down.
25:41And he's still in this fight running 12th right now.
25:44Yeah, I love the resiliency in the fight that RJ Hampshire displays every time he's on that
25:51motorcycle.
25:52You watch him.
25:52You can just see the heart and the passion that he's riding at the level that he's riding
25:57at, J.T.
25:58It's a lot of fun to watch.
25:59Yeah, and I don't think we've seen the last of the RJ Hampshire-Hayden Deegan battles
26:03yet.
26:03And RJ's really the first one that's kind of fired back.
26:06Like, I think he's up for that fight.
26:08If they want to make contact, let's make contact.
26:11If you ever met someone, they're really angry, and you look in their eyes, you're like, oh,
26:15you got a little bit of crazy in you, don't you?
26:16That's how I feel when I talk to RJ.
26:18Like, he will go to whatever level you want to take the fight to.
26:22I don't think, again, I don't think we've seen the last of it.
26:24Unfortunately, a crash there.
26:25But Moto2 should be a great one.
26:27Yeah, I've seen some odds like that.
26:29And yeah, you're right, J.T.
26:30You leave them people alone on there.
26:32But RJ, for sure, makes another mistake.
26:35It's going to be tough for him.
26:36But he's still coming off an injury.
26:38So he'll get better.
26:39But you know, Hayden R.C.
26:40Is like, be careful what you wish for.
26:42You won it at the danger zone.
26:44But RJ is at least the one guy who doesn't care.
26:47He'll be keep fighting.
26:48That was a nice save by RJ, actually, how he did that.
26:51He was leaning the bike over a little too much.
26:53And that corner is kind of off camera.
26:55It's getting slippery.
26:56I was down there on the track walking it earlier today.
26:58And these guys were in qualifying practice.
27:01Although it might look like it's gripped up right there.
27:04It was very, very slippery.
27:06Battle is on right now.
27:08Kitchen trying to move forward against Vial.
27:11They have been close the majority of this moto.
27:15James, you know, not often am I watching a race like this.
27:18And I'm like, man, I want to be out there.
27:21But this track looks fun to me.
27:23I was thinking that same thing.
27:24Yeah, I mean, it does look somewhat safe.
27:28With 86, that rhythm section over there is definitely
27:31plus 40-year-olds out here.
27:32That's right.
27:33And no whoops.
27:34I like no whoops program.
27:36Works good for me, my short legs.
27:39I need the whoops, man.
27:40I need the whoops.
27:40But, yeah.
27:42Jason, we saw this happen at the motocross.
27:45Levi Kitchen.
27:46Seems like in the middle part of the race, he struggles.
27:49Like, almost like he's starting to go back.
27:50And then towards the end, he's fighting up.
27:53Just like he's doing in this moto.
27:55But you keep it, you know, keep in mind for everyone tuned in today.
27:59This two moto format.
28:01So although it seems like he might be out of it.
28:03A guy like vial or kitchen.
28:05That isn't necessarily true.
28:07Because they're going to have to line up again.
28:09Right?
28:10And have another crack at it.
28:11So a lot of racing left to be had.
28:14And anything can happen.
28:15Especially with the format.
28:17Well, I'll take it to another level with the format.
28:18It's single points today.
28:20We'll go to double points next week in Texas.
28:22And triple.
28:22And we saw that you can roll at the very first race of the year at Charlotte.
28:26That does not really mean all that much.
28:29In terms of the title.
28:30So a lot of racing yet to come.
28:33In this three weekend run.
28:37Look at Mumford here.
28:39New to the fire power Honda team.
28:40Had that great start.
28:41Was battling.
28:42Now back to 15th.
28:44Won the last chance qualifier just to get in.
28:46He was not in the top 20 in points.
28:50Coming into it.
28:52And he was penalized position for an illegal pass.
28:55I would assume that means he's probably off the racetrack when he made that move.
28:59Yeah, I'll have to get a sneak peek at that.
29:01But that is illegal passes.
29:07They're not legal.
29:07So why are we doing that?
29:09He's frowned upon.
29:12I mean, yeah, he must have gone off course.
29:14Yeah, no, the reason why we're like that is because that's not normal.
29:18That's not normal.
29:19Very rare.
29:20We've seen that.
29:20Yes.
29:21Yeah, a pass.
29:21He went off the track.
29:22Made a pass.
29:23But a legal one.
29:24Well, this is pretty normal.
29:25We saw it quite a bit this year.
29:27And it continues.
29:29Bad start for Deegan.
29:30No problem.
29:31Not only did he go through his competitors, but he did it with a bit of attitude.
29:36You know, as far as a win goes, look at this.
29:39One of the only riders on the race course right now being able to do that rhythm section
29:44in that particular combination.
29:46But I mean, what a way to win.
29:48I mean, not that this guy has any confidence problems, but to pass all the guys that you
29:53battled all year long and just drop them.
29:56And as you said, there's another moto.
29:58So guys like Levi have another chance.
30:00But the problem is, is who's winning?
30:02Who's winning?
30:02So the confidence that this number one guy is getting from this race and what he's able
30:07to do, you can just see it, Jason.
30:09Like, it is growing.
30:11It's growing.
30:11He's already had the confidence coming in.
30:13Now he's backing it up on the racetrack.
30:15Quite frankly, he made this look pretty easy.
30:17Yeah, and I talked to him yesterday in the press conference.
30:19I said, talk about that single, double, triple points.
30:22And he said, no, you got to set the tone early.
30:24The only moto that he actually won of the six last year was this one.
30:28The first moto.
30:29But he still ended up winning the S.M.X.
30:31World Championship through consistency.
30:33And of course, grit, which is a bit of his trademark.
30:36Yeah, set that tone.
30:37That tone looks pretty good at this moment.
30:40So, Hayden Deegan, number one, coming off that fresh championship.
30:44It's all about the tone.
30:46It's all about the tone.
30:49Sounds good right now.
30:50Hayden Deegan.
30:52A come from behind win in spectacular fashion.
30:56Yeah.
30:57And that's two years in a row that he's won the first moto here in Concord.
31:03They're going to take second.
31:05The two teenagers high-fiving.
31:07Shimoda will take third.
31:09The Allen kitchen top five.
31:14And you know, there's lots of Deegan fans here.
31:16They actually do have a house in North Carolina.
31:18They spend a lot of time here.
31:19Talk to him on the podium.
