00:00T. R. S. You said the Irish are done. They're not going to reach the college football playoff.
00:07I don't know if that's the case. The odds did get longer three to one. They were minus
00:12four 10 entering week two. Only Ohio state and Georgia had better prices to reach the
00:17college football playoff in the four team format for sure. Not a chance. Notre Dame
00:22is getting in. They have to run the table in my estimation or maybe lose one other time
00:29at most. But Northern Illinois was not a team we expected to beat Notre Dame. So the
00:33concern is there. I don't know if the door is completely closed, though, on Notre Dame
00:38with the expanded playoff. Well, here's the problem. Every single other team with one
00:43loss gets the nod over Notre Dame. They lose every single scenario with any other football
00:47team unless they lose. So I don't or I can't even pick up a team at this point that they
00:52like just a random Mac team, I guess, which, again, Northern Illinois, who is 2 and 0 and
00:57over the past what decade, decade and a half, probably maybe the best team in the back,
01:00but certainly a four touchdown underdog. You can't lose that game at home. This is a rolling
01:05of the helmet game, Ben, right? Hey, come out of the tunnel, roll your helmet out to
01:07the 50 yard line, blow out and I you this is a game that if Riley Leonard didn't even
01:11throw a pass in, they probably win the game convincingly by double digits.
01:14But they did and they lost. But the reason why this is so devastating is you're right.
01:18Like Notre Dame is independent nationally, which means they have that NBC spotlight here.
01:23And the thing I loved about the game is I was sure on quite frankly, they're even lucky
01:26in Torrio. Ontario Brown got injured. What? Midway through that third quarter. Oh, that's
01:30going to like there's no way he's the only guy that can move the football. And they still
01:33won that football game, which was incredible. But I wanted to watch the broadcast because
01:38it's very unique to college football where you have a national broadcast that is a rooting
01:43interest for Notre Dame and a homer broadcast. But I actually thought they did a very good
01:47job in that game of saying how well you played. They even interviewed the head coach at the
01:52end of the game on their own broadcast, saying how great that victory was, knowing that it's
01:56damaging to their own brand on NBC for Notre Dame getting embarrassed on that game. So
02:00I do want to shout out NBC for doing a very good job of not just sugarcoating this and
02:04ending it quickly. And due to time restrictions, we can't have any interviews on the field
02:08and onto your local programming coming up next. So I appreciate they did that. But for
02:12Marcus Freeman, I don't know how you survived, because as I talked about, Ben, for me, your
02:17season is done. You're going to play right up through the end of November. But you're
02:21not going to hate. Maybe they can win the ACC. They're not in a conference. So you can't
02:24even use that as maybe we can win it to get that at large bid. Now, also, what fans going
02:29up to the games like knowing that you're done for the season this early should not be the
02:34case on a team with that high of expectations. This doesn't fall kindly here on Marcus Freeman.
