00:00Stepping into the role of government, the CLP front bench sworn in and fronting the
00:07press for the first time as ministers.
00:10The first question about the exit of senior public servants from education and health.
00:15Going forward there will be people who leave roles, people who change roles and new people
00:20coming in.
00:21The CLP today announcing a new CEO for health, Chris Hosking, who had previously overseen
00:26the development of Royal Darwin Hospital's new patient records system.
00:30Chief Minister Finocchiaro ordering her heads of department to look for more homegrown talent.
00:35We will certainly be having a system where we go back to a specialised public service,
00:40build capacity in our own people and I've been very clear to CEOs that this is about
00:45growing our own.
00:47In her cabinet, stalwarts of the previous four years of opposition and two first time
00:51MLAs keen to get their feet under the desk.
00:54Well I've been sworn in 15 minutes ago so I think the first thing is that I really need
01:00to sit down with the people who are working on the ground now, hear from them what their
01:04concerns are, look at how they think that services need to be delivered.
01:09One of those on the ground, a so-called territory coordinator tasked with paying off the territory's
01:14ballooning public debt.
01:16With the implementation of a territory coordinator, that position, that new position that we're
01:21going to be bringing in with government that will sit with the Chief Minister will assist
01:24driving investment and attracting investment here to the territory and through that we'll
01:28start to develop some of our own source revenue.
01:30The CLP yet to say just who will fill that role.
01:34But the Labor opposition was quick to point out that now ex-CEO of Education, Karen Weston,
01:40had attracted millions in federal investment for the territory's schools and yet been stood
01:46down.
01:47She's been a very pivotal part of that movement and the priority and the reforms in education
01:52that are underway and underfoot at the moment, we would hope the CLP government will continue
01:57those reforms.
01:58A broom starting to sweep through the corridors of power.
