The European Commission is celebrating two major wins over tech giants. In separate rulings the European Court of Justice ordered Apple to pay $14 bn and Google $2.6 bn.

00:00Europe's top courts ordered Apple to pay Ireland 13 billion euros in back taxes.
00:07This settles a long-standing dispute back to 2016.
00:12And it's not a dispute that Ireland has sought either.
00:16Ireland has long tried to be a favourable destination for big tech companies through
00:21its tax incentives.
00:23However, the European Commission says that that relationship with Apple has been unfair.
00:29The European Court of Justice describes it as unlawful aid.
00:34Apple maintains it always pays its taxes.
00:38And off the back of this ruling by the ECJ, the European Commission calls it tax justice.
