Love Undercover is a 2002 Hong Kong comedy romance film directed by Joe Ma Wai-ho (馬偉豪). A prequel to 新紮師妹２美麗任務 Love Undercover 2: Love Mission (2003), also directed by Joe Ma, starring Daniel Wu Yin-cho (吳彥祖) as Au Hoi-man and Miriam Yeung Chin-wah (楊千嬅) as Fong Lai-kuen. A young policewoman is picked for an undercover job - getting close enough to a gangster's son so that she can plant a microphone at a table where the gangsters make their deals. Complications arise when she finds herself falling for him.
Fong Lai-kuen, a rookie cop who flunked every single important test as a police cadet. However, Hong Kong needs cops, so she graduates anyway. Assigned to the Lost Property Department, Fong can only gossip with her co-workers and lust after hunk cop Hung Chow (黃浩然 Raymond Wong Ho-yin).
However, Fong gets her chance pretty quickly. The Serious Crime Unit picks her for minor undercover work because she has no family, boyfriend or dog and wouldn't be missed if the target decides to off her. She's assigned to bug suspected triad guy Au Hoi-man, but thanks to nutty situation comedy circumstances she ends up catching his eye. Au decides to pursue Fong, and the Serious Crime Unit couldn't be happier. Led by Officer Chung (許紹雄 Benz Hui Siu-hung) and the previously-mentioned hunk cop Hung Chow, the cops go about setting up an elaborate cover for Fong. They plan to keep her close to Au in hopes of discovering his evil plans.
